Chapter: 16

Jasmine:

We pull up at the ice cream shop called Pier's and the smell of rocky road fills my nostrils. Mmm.

A young lady wearing a blue apron walks up to me and Ben. "Welcome to Pier's, would you like a table?" She says with a smile

Oh no thank you, we'd like to sit  the fucking floor.

"Yes, we'd like a table for two please" Ben says and she chauffeurs us to a table by a huge glass window.

"And here are your menus" she says handing us the menus before scurrying away.

"Thanks for bringing me" I say smiling while staring at the menus

"Its fine b" he says

"So what happened at the party last night?" He asks

"Uhh nothing really, I was bored anyways" I lie

"So Brett didn't try anything stupid?. Like flirting with you or anything else?" He says curiously

"No, none of that happened" I lie again

" I trust you but I'd like to warn you about Brett. He's not what he seems to be, he's a player and all he cares about is his ego and getting every single girl in school in his bed so stay away from him okay. He's bad news"

"Okay" I say honestly.

Ben is actually right you know, Brett may be nice but I don't really know what he's up to. And for his own ex-bestfriend to say something like this, he must be a real monster.

So I'mma just stay away.

"So what flavor of ice cream do you want Mademoiselle?" The waitress asks when she comes back

"Ehh I think I'd go with rocky road" I say hungrily

"Excellent choice, and for you monsieur?" She asks Ben

"I'd like the sugar rush ice cream" he says with a smile

"I'll be back in a minute" she says as she collects the menus from us than walks away

She comes back with our ice cream and boy, it looks good. As soon as she drops the plate I dig in ruthlessly.

"Aren't you worried you're gonna have a brain freeze?" Ben asks with his mouth open

"Nah I'm an expert at this" I say and begin to shove more ice cream in my mouth

"You are one weird girl" he says laughing

"Why thank you" I say with my mouth full.

"Thanks for taking me out Ben" I say as we pull up to Holly's house

"I told you to stop thanking me" he says pissed

"Whateves, see you on Monday!" I chirp and open the door

"Umm Jas?" Ben says quietly

"Yea?" I ask with a small smile

"I.. I don't know how to say this but I think I like you" he says looking into my eyes

"Say what" I say shocked

Oh no why does he like me?! This is so weird. First of all he's my ex boyfriend, my bodyguard and now he tells me he likes me?!

Ah geez

"I said I like you Jas" he says again, more quietly this time

"Um Ben, I really don't know how to break this to.you but I don't have the same feelings for you" I say sadly.

Ugh I hate breaking people's hearts. Ha who am I kidding?!. This is my specialty

"Oh. I understand, it was just a joke anyways. See you on Monday" he says quickly and opens the door for me.

Sheesh

"Okay?" I say surprised and confused at the same time

I watch him zoom off until he turns into another street. Boy, it sure sucks to be him.

Sighing, I walk into the house and find Ariel and Holly on the couch watching a movie and squealing about something, the usual

"Whaddup peeps" I say sadly

"Hey gurl what's up?" Ariel says smiling

"Meh nothing" I say playing with the hem of my shirt

"Okay I'm no brainiac but it's pretty obvious you're hurt. Was it Ben because if he did something I swear I would."

"He didn't try anything stupid Holly" I said cutting her off

Sheesh she can be so dramatic

"Oh. Then what happened?" She asks sitting down

"Well we went to get ice cream and he told me he likes me. Like more than friends" I say

"Oh no" Holly says facepalming

"I know right?! Now things are going to be so awkward between us" I say plopping on the chair

"Tell me about it. He's your ex, your body guard AND he likes you?!" Holly says and I shoot her a glare

"Hol' up did you just say body guard?" Ariel asks

"What she meant my body guard is that it's just.. uh a nickname. You know Jasmine she loves nicknames and because Ben is always around her she decided to give him the name bodyguard" Holly says laughing awkwardly

"Ohh. And he's your ex?" Ariel asks again

"Yeah we used to date way back when we were twelve. But it's in the past now tho" I said

"Uh.. okay"  and I let out a sigh of relief

I actually kind of feel bad that I'm lying to Ariel since she's the only friend I've made here but it's supposed to be a secret and I can't risk it because number one dad would totally have my head and lock me up till I'm forty.

"Cheer up Jas, we've all had that awkward feeling when someone close to you has a crush on you so calm down okay. Just talk things through and it'll be fine I promise" Ariel says with a small smile

"But he's always around me and Im not very much that kind of person that knows how to deal with that crush kind of thing" I say honestly

"Say what?!" Ariel says surprised

"Yea she was practically homeschooled" Holly says trying not to laugh

"Ugh whatevs" I said rolling my eyes playfully

"Just calm down b, everything would be fine" Holly says hugging me

"Okay, so I think it's time for me to leave" Ariel says

"Okay see you on Monday?" I say

"Yea bye girls!" Ariel chirps before walking out the door

"I can't believe you almost blew my cover!" I shout

"I'm sorry it slipped" She says walking to the kitchen and she comes back with a bad of cheese balls

"Well next time don't let it 'slip' if not it would be serious trouble for us" I say seriously. And yes I put air quotes around the slip

"What evs mom!" She says laughing and I swat her with a pillow

"Oof" she says and I burst into laughter

"I'm going upstairs to change!"

"Hurry up tho, Teenwolf is starting" she says and I practically scream and run upstairs then change into my big hoodie and short short sweat shorts.

"I'm here!" I say jumping on the couch

"Let the wolfyness begin" she says smiling as she turns up the volume when the theme song starts
