Athena was woken up by Damien before she could witness any further, she was annoyed because she felt was about, she was about to see next was important, but she couldn't blame Damien.
"Get up, we gotta go train, Evans is leaving the safe house to scout around and gather more supplies, while Raven is watching the news in the study" Damien gave Athena a run through of everybody's routine while they both walked to the gym.
This went on for two more days until they heard news of the military opening a base, Evans and Damien wanted to check it out, but Raven opted out and said it was better for them to wait till this week is up, they felt that it was a better plan, so they all went about back to their normal routine.
Come Friday, Evans strolled into the mansion, but what was strange was that there was a little kid trailing behind him, looking all bloodied and tattered. He called up to Raven at the stairs and went to sit on the couch.
Raven walked down the stairs, pausing slightly when he saw the child, then walked and sat opposite Evans, Damien and Athena both heard Evans voice so they came out check, seeing the child they both went to sit next to Raven, then looked at Evans with a look that said "Explain".
Evans sighed loudly before he spoke "I found him in the middle of a dozen zombies, I couldn't not rescue him, besides he was able to hold out on his own before I could assist, and I know what you're thinking, and no I only helped because my instincts said so" Raven who was about to say something closed his mouth back.
"So, are we keeping him? what about his mom or dad, any indications as to whether alive or dead?" Asked Damien.
"No, didn't see any indications of human live, he said to drop him off at the base though"
"Can the child speak?" Raven asked.
"Yes, I don't know why he's mum now though"
Athena walked up to the child and knelt before him, asking him questions to which he answered quietly, turns out his name is Marcus and he and his parents were on their way to the base when as soon as they heard of the evacuation to the military base, but they were ambushed by some people and their car was stolen, they waited for a while till they saw help but the person helping them said they wasn't enough space in his van to take one more person so they left him there ruthlessly.
"He's coming with us then, we won't be leaving him at the base, lest his family start using him as collateral" Raven said with finality.
Since there were to leave the safe house tomorrow, Evans called all of them up to the study including the child, there was a map on the table.
"So umm guys, we're currently in city F, and the base is at Zone B which is one fifty kilometers away, we said we'd be checking the base out before we move on to find Micah" Evans stated then he dropped the paper and wrote down a code and drew a symbol he saw in Micah's cabin.
The little guy with them saw the code and was about to say something but decided against it, meanwhile Athena saw the symbol and felt she's seen it before, but she couldn't be sure, so she didn't say anything, she picked up the paper on written on it was
"Double A base at the southside of nowhere"
"Okay so we have an idea of where he might be, but where is the southside of nowhere?" Athena questioned'
"We'll find it, let's go to the base first, I might have an idea of where it might be" Raven said
"Come down for dinner, we'll leave at the crack of dawn" he continued, and they all dispersed.
Meanwhile, in the newly established military base, one of the soldiers responsible for inspecting admitted civilians to the base kept glancing around so frequently that his subordinates noticed his behavior.
"Are you alright, you keep glancing around, are you looking for someone or expecting your family?"
"No just.... never mind"
He was about to speak again but he had to perform his job as someone was at his stand.
"Name?"
"Lilliana Rilan"
"Powers or regular?"
"Regular"
"Okay, you go to the left building and the secretary in there would get you settled in, before you leave, do have any family that you think would be in the base or are you looking for anyone?"
"Yes, can you check for a priest Evans? And also, a Sir Lucas de Rilan"?
"We have a Sir Lucas, we don't have any Evans that is stated to be a priest, sorry"
"Family?" he questioned to which Lilliana responded yes to.
"If you would like to meet up with Sir Lucas, please wait by the tent, he will be notified shortly"
Lilliana bit her lips and sighed softly, she was grateful her father was here but then again, she wondered if she was ever going to see Evans and then the issue with the young girl she had seen at the church, she was jealous but still she felt pity for the little girl, firstly Evans might not even give her a glance and secondly, she heard the girl's parent were assassinated.
When she was on her way to the base she met other survivors and then they talked, when she heard about a couple getting murdered, she was intrigued and asked about the children, the lady who was running her mouth off said the police haven't found the child, she also showed her a picture of the girl so that's how she was able to piece information together, but she still didn't know why she was at the church, she also didn't mention to the lady that she met the girl at the church, while she was in deep thought, her father was standing before her with a man at the back.
"Lilliana is that you, oh darling I thought I'd lost you" Lucas ran up to his daughter as he hugged her, but she wasn't focused on her dad at the moment, she was more interested in the man behind her father.
Lilliana was shocked when she glanced at his face, because she felt that he was the finest man she's ever seen, her cheeks got colored, and she averted her eyes to speak to her father. If Athena had been there, she'd recognize him as the king who got executed or rather both he and the king bore a striking resemblance.
The man behind Lilliana's dad had a look of boredom at first glance but taking a closer look, it was like he was gazing at a dead man or rather an insignificant bug, and whenever he looked at the soldier admitting civilians by the stand, he had a look of mirth mixed with disgust and....pity.
