Chapter 9

IT WAS eight in the morning when Lea and Chloe pick her up. They invite her over breakfast in Lea’s restaurant. Her friends keep on interrogating her. But she doesn’t know what to answer and where to start. She just tells them that she will answer it after breakfast so they will stop. Besides, after it, they will be hanging out in her condo.

Her father called her too over the phone and said that she had a trip abroad for business matters. She declined it but he blackmailed her and said that she will not inherit any single pound on their company. She just scoffed and laughed. As if he could do it. Knowing her mother? She won’t agree with it. Her mother loves her so much that she won’t let it happen.

So, if Trinity said no, then it’s a no. her father does the business thing on that trip.

Yes. She’s hardheaded. But no one can blame her, she hates business. When she was young, she always wanted to be a doctor, but it turns out she became a businesswoman.

There’s nothing wrong with being a businesswoman either. Her parents were both business tycoons. But it hurts to feel that she can’t have what she wants to become because her parents don’t want it for her. They always said they want the best for her—yes, their best, not hers. She was the one who holds her fate, not them. But what else she can do; it does not like she can undo everything that had happened already. She just let it pass, besides, she’s the only heir of their company.

To fulfill one-fourth of her dreams, what she did is, invest in different hospitals, especially for cancer patients and for those kids who needed medications and lack on finances.

Nevertheless, if she wants to achieve her dreams, she can do it. But it will be just a hassle of her time. She’s already twenty-five, and at her age, she must be looking for a man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. She should be starting to build her own family. She laughed at the thought.

“What are you laughing at?” asked, Lea, brows raised. She sits in front of me while Chloe sat beside her. They’re waiting for their orders.

“Nothing.”

“Really? Hey witch, you didn’t answer our questions yet.”

Trinity raised her left eyebrow. “And that would be?” she asked, pretending to be innocent.

“Oh, C’mon. Cut the act,” Lea grumbled and crossed her arms.

“What’s your question again?”

Lea rolled her eyes that makes Chloe laugh. “What’s our question? What’s going on between you and the famous Zachary Mon Beaumont Ferron?”

Trinity drinks on her glass of water. “Nothing,” she simply replied.

“Nothing?” Lea repeated.

“Yes. Nothing. Do we look like we have a thing?” she asked, acting astound.

Lea laughed. “Wow, nothing, huh?” she faced Chloe. “She answered nothing, Chloe,” she said, sarcastically.

“And please, can’t we talk about that? Why did the two of you leave me there all by myself?”

She feels relief when their orders came.

“We leave you because Zach told us. We don’t want to go home, because we’re still having fun, but Zach charm was so—”

“I didn’t know that you know Zachary,” she cut in whilst she’s slicing her beef steak.

“Duh, who wouldn’t know him? That handsome face? Of course, every girl in town knows him. He’s the talk of the town when it comes to women. And we were surprised when he came in our direction that time,” said Chloe.

“Even if he did that, you shouldn’t leave me there,” she said and placed the sliced steak inside her mouth.

“Of course, we’re not supposed to leave you, but he offers us that he will increase his investments in our company, and who wouldn’t like that offer, huh?” it was Lea.

Trinity shook her head. Among the three, she’s the only one who isn’t fond of business—but she’s trying though.

“And we conclude that he is good for you. So that you can forget Duke,” said Lea.

Trinity’s forehead wrinkled. “Duke? I already moved on to that dimwit. And you’re entrusting me to a womanizer?”

Chloe laughed. “That night, Zachary pleaded. Duh, that was as the first time in Zach’s history. Knowing his reputation as a cold-hearted-womanizer-beast, that’s why we both agreed that you will be safe with him.”

“You’re shipping me out to that Zach?”

“Bitch, he even told us that you two were dating,” said Lea.

Her eyes widened. “What? He said that?”

Lea rolled her eyes. “Are you deaf?”

Damn. “Dad is trying to ship us out, okay. He was the one who told Zach to invite me over lunch and dinner. That was the start. Zach is the new member of our board.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” asked, Lea,

Trinity sipped on her drink. “He’s not serious, anyway.”

“What do you think?” asked Chloe.

She pretended to think. But now, she’s murdering Zach inside her mind. That man must pay for this. He can’t control his mouth, huh? And he even bribed her friends with his money, and her friends fall on his tactics.

“It was nothing. It was just a friendly date, perhaps. Besides, you knew Zach hates commitments, right. And I’m not applying to be just her flings. You know me.”

“You have a point,” Lea and Chloe said in unison.

“And one more thing, I’m just giving favor to Dad. And that happened once,” she said, and they seemed convinced with it.

When they finished eating their meals, Trinity walks first through the exit. When she was in front of the car, Lea talked. “Trin, wait.” She then shifted her gaze to them.

She raised her brow. “What?” she asked, crossed arms.

“Turn around,” said Lea.

Her forehead wrinkled but she still did what Lea said.

“Stay still.”

“Why?” she asked, seems irritated.

Lea gasped. “Oh, My, Goodness!” she screamed.

Trinity faced them. Her friends seem surprised.

“What’s your problem?” she asked. Her friend acting weird.

“Tell us something we don’t know! Who got your virginity?” Lea blurted. Trinity traveled their distance and covers Lea’s mouth.

“You’re too loud,” she said as she sees people looking in their direction.

Lea then took her hand down. “You’re not a virgin anymore,” she said, firmly.

Trinity met Chloe’s eyes, trying to start a conversation, and then they both carried Lea inside the car. Knowing Lea, she’s scandalous and can attract attention to others. Before she can give embarrassment, they already put her inside the car.

Can’t she say those in private?

When they successfully put her inside, Trinity sits beside Lea and Chloe sat on the driver’s seat.

“Oh, God, Trinity Louie Santiago Rojas, you’re not a virgin anymore!” she blurted.

“Can you please stop for a moment?” trinity faced her. “Yes, I’m not. You’re happy, now,” she replied for her to stop. But she’s wrong. Lea threw successive questions.

“I told you, Chloe, when we have overnight in the club, there’s something different happened to her already. And she was the only girl who blooms and glows after having a steamy session with someone and after a heartbreak.”

Trinity just rolled her eyes.

“Who’s the guy?” asked Chloe as she looked at her in the rearview mirror.

“Zach,” she answered.

Chloe smiled and nodded while Lea’s eyes widened, surprised.

“That. Man whore. Got you?” Lea asked.

Whilst ago she’s praising the man and now disgust was visible on her face. For real? She’s impossible.

Trinity just nodded.

“I bet, it does not happen ponce, right?” she asked in a serious tone.

“Accidentally, just once,” Trinity lied. This isn’t the right time that she will tell them about the FUBU thing.

“Do you think I buy that?” Lea asked as if she sensed that Trinity is lying. “Okay, fine. I let this pass because you’re just being through a heartbreak lately. But when I will ask you soon, better tell us everything. And please, be careful. I know Zach dated many girls, bed every girl he likes. That night, when he said please to us, I know that he’s being serious that he will send you home. It’s fast for us to trust him, don’t we?”

She nodded.

“It’s just because, we know that Zach can help you to move on from Duke. And you know what?”

Trinity arched her left brow. “What? And I already moved on.”

Lea and Chloe’s eyes met through the rearview mirror and faced her again.

“You can use Zach to get even with Duke and Brenda.”

“Huh? What for? We’re over already. I don’t want him to think that I’m desperate and can’t move on him. No way,” she hesitated.

Lea hit her.

“Ouch! What?”

“Stupid, I didn’t say that you will use Zach and catch Duke’s attention. I just want you to show or prove to Duke that he can easily be replaced. Something just like that.”

“Ah, you pretend to be okay with Zach, but the truth is, you want to use him through your hidden agenda. Hey, that’s bad,” Trinity said.

“Wait… you had a crush on him?” Lea mocked.

“Duh, no. you know me if I had a crush on someone.”

“Trinity’s right, Lea,” Chloe agreed. “If Trinity had a crush on Zach, she will not stop blabbering about that guy, just like Duke—when she met him.”

“Okay. Here’s the plan,” Lea started.

“Plan?” she asked.

“Yes, a plan—we have a plan. We’re gonna—you’re gonna hit two birds in one stone.”

Trinity raised her brow as her forehead wrinkled because of confusion.

“Trin, use Zach to prove that Duke was just nothing—”

“Of course, he was just nothing,” Trinity meddled.

“Fine. Let me finish. As I was saying, use him. Besides, your dad is in favor of Zach, and we don’t have a problem with that. But… here’s the twist, Zach hates commitment, right?”

“Yeah, and then?” she asked. Can’t predict what’s on Lea’s mind.

“Let’s make Zachary Ferron be committed to you,” she said, having shudders.

Trinity slightly hit her in the head. “Bitch, that’s not going to happened,” she said and shook her head. Chloe then parked the car.

“That’s why you are going to try it. There’s no harm in trying and you will not lose a thing, you know,” Lea said.

Trinity smirked. “And what will I gain in return?”

“Ah okay, so we have bets here?” asked Lea.

“Why, isn’t it supposed to be that way?” Trinity asked, sarcastically.

“Bitch!” Lea hit her. “Okay, if you succeed, half of our inheritance will be yours,” she said, conceitedly.

“Hey, I disagree,” said Chloe. “Don’t be too conceited, Ley,” she added.

Lea glared at her. “Shut up, Chloe. Stop complaining.” And Chloe didn’t even utter a word.

Oh, Lea and her devil side.

“Are you sure about that?” Trinity asked.

“Of course. We’re hundred percent sure,” Lea answered.

The offer was great, and Trinity like it. The bet was challenging too. “Deal,” she answered. “And what if I fail?”

“Oh, then it is the end of the bet. At least you tried,” Lea replied and laughed as she went off the car.

Trinity just shook her head and can’t believe how crazy her friends were.
