Nightmares?

"What is he doing up so late?"

"Why is he always weird?"

" On second thought, I'm up too! so, it's not a big deal I guess. I think I'm imagining things a lot lately. ", Dawn thought.

A message notification brought her back from the chain of thoughts.

"Oh right! After a long time I have received lots of messages but I didn't even bother reading them!", thinking that, Dawn gave life to her phone.

She opened the inbox. The recent text was a "hey" from the same unknown number. Under that she saw that someone had added her in a new group chat. There was some other older messages from Luke and Anna(they had exchanged numbers earlier!)

Luke's message read, "hey! About our date, you mi8 not know any places here yet! So lemme just pick u up at 5 on Saturday! ;)"

"So it is a date!", Dawn chuckled.

Then she moved on to Anna's message. "Hey Dawn! Can I add u to a group chat???!?"

"Why aren't you replying???! I'm adding u anyways ^_________^"

"Oh so it was her!"

Dawn opened the group chat and there were lots of messages. A very long conversation of random stuff! The whole chat was by Anna and Noah. Most of it seemed like arguments over silly things which made Dawn laugh out loud! There was another participant in that chat too. But there wasn't a single message from that number. "This must definitely be Skyler!!", She giggled.

"But , why does this number look familiar?", Dawn started thinking and a message popped up on the notification panel.

"The unknown number was Skyler's? lol!",the thought of Skyler texting her, excited her subconsciously!

She opened the new message which said ,"sorry. I called by mistake."

"What a blunt text!" And why did he send the text after a long time! Was he preparing what to reply?, Dawn couldn't control her laughter.

"But whom were you trying to call this late?ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ ", Dawn sent the text fastly and glanced at his window.

She kept looking at the window and her mobile screen eagerly.

He saw her text but there was no reply. She waited few minutes but only thing that happened was that his room's light went off.

"Is he for real?"

"Dawn!!",Sarah shouted from downstairs.

"..."

"Dawn??"

..... still there was no response.

Sarah went up to Dawn's room and knocked on the door.

"Is she still asleep?", she thought while she went inside.

"Dawn?", She called her again.

"Dawn? Honey wake up. You're gonna be late to school!", She said as she shook Dawn's shoulders to make her wake up.

Suddenly Dawn sat up on the bed and started gasping. Sarah, who wasn't expecting this was startled and stood there with hands on her chest.

It took her few seconds to calm down. "Honey are you okay?" , Sarah asked as she sat down next to her.

"Mom I'm having these weird nightmares.. it feels so real..", Dawn was shaking.

"It's alright Dawn.. it was just a nightmare.."Sarah held both her hands and consoled her.

"Mom it's creepy.. and I.. I didn't like it", tears welled up in her eyes.

"It's okay sweetheart. I got you.", Sarah hugged her as she said that.

"Love you Mom.. "

"I Love you too sweetheart ", Sarah said as she tightened her hug.

"Mom.. it's getting harder to breathe.."

"It's okay honey.."

"Mom this is not funny.. I can't breathe!"

"Didn't I tell that I'll come for you?"

The hug became tighter and it didn't feel right.

"Mom what are you talking about? Let me go!"

Dawn slowly started to feel like a skeleton was hugging her, a really hard one! It didn't feel like her mom anymore.

The clothes were suddenly turning into some old rags.

An awful smell came from it.

"Who are you?"

"What the hell is happening?"

"Let me go now!"

"Mom!!! Somebody help me!!"

"Ha ha ha ha ha scream as much as you want! Nobody's going to hear you or help you"

"Somebody...", Dawn fainted before finishing her sentence as she couldn't breathe at all.

She felt like she was in a dark space. She ran everywhere but she couldn't find anything at all. She ran for a long time and then just roamed here and there.

There was neither entrance nor exit.

Neither beginning point not an ending point.

She felt tired and gave up her search. All of a sudden there was a noise of a glass breaking. Dawn woke up.

Sarah rushed up to Dawn's room and asked, "What was that?!"

She looked around and saw broken pieces of window's glass, a small rock near them and a panicked Dawn.

"Mom!", Dawn ran towards her and hesitated a little and then hugged her.

"What is it honey?"

"Did you get scared of that noise?"

"Were you having a nightmare?"

Dawn looked up at her mom's face.

Her smile made her calm down.

"It's nothing mom.", She smiled.

"I'm not sure about anything anymore mom..",she thought to herself.
