The Rooh of Greed

Cultivation is a path of rebellion — rebellion against the world, rebellion against Heaven and Earth. Rebellion against oneself! The journey to the apex is fraught with bloodshed. It's a path of no return that only the bravest of men can tread. However, courage alone is not enough to reach the end of this arduous road. Only those who can embrace the loneliness of this journey, all while enduring the unimaginable pain and suffering constantly hurled at them along this infinitely long path of cultivation, stand a chance to reach the peak. Yet, even then, it remains a one-in-a-billion chance. Does this mean there have never been individuals at the top? No, there have been those who reached the pinnacle, but they are a mere handful compared to the countless beings who have aspired to ascend since the beginning of time. So, what sets these supreme beings apart from the multitude of people who have walked the path of cultivation? Is it luck? Perhaps. Wisdom? Well, one cannot afford to be a fool and still be a king right. Wealth? Certainly, but it is not everything. Perseverance? Well, that goes without saying. But something is still missing, something important... What about fate and destiny? It could very well be a factor! However, isn't cultivation all about defying one's fate and forging their destiny? Then what is that one quality which separates the masses from being a supreme individual?? *** Wei Wushang slowly closed the book he was reading, leaning back in his chair. Closing his eyes which were filled with fatigue, he muttered softly. "It's the willingness to sacrifice. To achieve something great one must be ruthless towards both the world and oneself, treating everything equally. Only then can one achieve true greatness. Something that can be gained easily is not worthy of greatness, and that which seems impossible to achieve is the truth of the soul." "And the truth of my soul is Eternal Freedom!" ••••••• This is a novel about a true villain, unapologetic and unrepentant. He was reborn as Wei Wushang in the cruel and marvelous world of Rooh. Bang!

The door behind him shut firmly as Wei Wushang entered the room with a saber in hand.

His calm gaze swept across the room, and his eyes suddenly flashed with a sharp light.

Huddled together on top of a bed, a mother and her son clung to each other as if their lives depended on it.

Due to the racket outside, they had long since woken up, but they didn't dare to come out.

"Stay away!" The mother screamed loudly, her face ferocious like a lioness protecting her cub. However, with his astute gaze, Wei Wushang could see her hands trembling like leaves in a storm, while tightly holding the little boy against her chest.

The dread and helplessness in her shivering heart were clear as day.

Wei Wushang slowly stepped forward, his footsteps echoing within the wooden house

"I'm warning you, if anything happens to us, my husband won't forgive you!!"

"I told you not to come near! Stay away!"

"No... don't take another step..."

"Please..."

The woman screamed in horror as tears flowed down her soft face. With every step Wei Wushang took, the fear in her heart grew stronger.

And soon, the facade of a courageous mother crumbled from her face, revealing her true self: nothing more than a weak and pitiful woman consumed by an overwhelming fear of death.

Her fearful eyes traced from Wei Wushang to the door he had come from, praying with all her heart and soul that her husband would arrive any moment now with a heroic flair to rescue her. By bringing an end to this evildoer once and for all.

In her heart, she believed in him.

No.. she wanted to believe in him...

She was trying to believe in him!

However, when the sheen of the saber met her eyes, the hope that had built up within her deflated like a popped balloon. The harsh reality set in instantly, sending a chilling wave through her heart.

She started to cry loudly, "Why...? Why are you doing this to us? What have we ever done to deserve this!? Why can't you just let us live in peace?! You damned demon!!"

Her cries kept getting louder and louder, "I hate this, I hate this, I hate this!! Husband, where are you?? I am so scared..."

"Hmph! Scream all you want, no one's gonna save you." Wei Wushang smiled coldly as he moved to stand in front of the mother and son duo, his eyes that were dark like the abyss suddenly turned sharp, flashing with a murderously dreadful light.

Then, death descended with a single swipe of a saber.

"Save me!!!" The woman screamed tragically, her cry echoing far and wide.

But before long, the cold blade entered the side of her neck. With a swift, merciless motion, it slid out from the other side of her neck, effortlessly severing her head from her shoulders.

The next moment, she felt her world spin. She saw her own trembling feet, the little boy hugging her chest... and that severed neck.

A world of eternal darkness welcomed her, Death!

Her head, beheaded by the cold saber, fell from her shoulders and landed on her lap momentarily before the momentum fall caused it to roll down the bed, finally coming to a stop at Wei Wushang's feet.

Her lifeless eyes stared out in shock, the horror of her final moments frozen forever.

Blood surged forth like a gushing fountain from her severed neck, drenching the white bed sheets and bathing her young son in a sea of warm blood.

Devoid of strength, her headless body slumped onto the bed. The little boy cried even more profusely. Overwhelmed by fear, he clung to his mother's corpse even more tightly.

"Noisy brat." Wei Wushang had a ruthless expression, the little boy's crying was making him annoyed.

His right palm moved quickly and with precision, cutting forward and hitting the left side of the boy's neck.

"Mother..." The unfortunate boy suddenly received a heavy blow. His two eyes instantly rolled up, and he directly fainted on his mother's headless corpse.

"Much better," Wei Wushang scoffed, before settling on the edge of the bloodied bed. His dark and eerie gaze shifted to the wooden door as he thought, 'Any second now.'

A few more seconds passed, and then the sound of hurried footsteps arrived.

Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud...

And before long, the door was abruptly slammed open with a resounding "Bam!"

Huff! Huff! Huff!

Feng Tian's breathing was ragged, his bloodshot eyes frantically scanned the enclosure. He was practically begging and crying in his heart for the safety of his beloved family.

The moment his gaze landed on the nightmarish scene, his heart shattered into a million pieces. His expression went from bad to worse, and his entire body shook violently.

Plop.

He kneeled on the ground weakly, at once Feng Tian's face was like an overflowing river. An impact like this was too sudden and great to him.

"Heh, I told you that you would regret it," Wei Wushang said, lightly shaking his head before kicking the woman's head toward Feng Tian.

The lifeless head landed close to Feng Tian. The vacant look on his wife's face hit him like a bolt of lightning, sending another shiver through his body. It felt as if the slightest touch could make him crumble.

Tears rushed down his face as he cried, "Oh, Cui'er, why did this happen to you? How can I go on without you? Without you, what will become of our son..?"

Suddenly, his eyes widened in realization.

Raising his head, he looked at Wei Wushang, his face now filled with coldness. Uncontrollable anger surged through his veins as he slowly stood, a callous killing intent brewing in his eyes like a raging blizzard.

"Release him, and I may let you live," Feng Tian uttered darkly.

"Let me live, hehe.." Wei Wushang smiled lightly, slowly bringing the saber close to the little boy's neck.

"You dare!!!" Feng Tian roared malevolently, he was beyond furious. This cold-hearted youngster had already killed his beloved wife, and now he dared to threaten his son's life!

How could he not be angry? His blood was literally boiling from rage!!

And in his overflowing rage, he unknowingly took a step forward.

Instantly, the saber in Wei Wushang's hand grazed the boy's soft skin, and red blood trickled out immediately.

Feng Tian instantly froze in horror, but Wei Wushang, on the other hand, smiled mockingly, saying "Why wouldn't I dare? Hehe, I dared to kill your wife. I certainly dare to kill your son. Not only that, I even dare to kill you!"

Feng Tian's expression was grim. A thousand thoughts churned in his mind as he immediately kneeled down, placing his forehead on the floor and prostrating deeply before Wei Wushang. His voice trembled as he said, "Lord, please show mercy. My wife dying at your hands is her greatest honor. But Lord, my foolish son is not worthy of such honor, not worthy at all. I beg of you, My Lord, tell me what I can do to make it up to you!"

Wei Wushang's expression turned milder. He arrogantly looked down at the growling Feng Tian and said, "Rest assured. Hand over all your spirit stones, and I'll spare both of you. But even for a second don't think of anything foolish, or you'd be simply throwing away your lives."

Feng Tian was silent for a moment before he began kowtowing non-stop, expressing, "I understand, this lowly slave understands."

"Good, but make it quick." Wei Wushang commented emotionlessly as he slowly took back the saber from the boy's neck.

"Yes, yes, just give me a minute, Lord Immortal!" Feng Tian sighed in relief before he frantically got up and began searching through his entire house, overturning wardrobes and breaking pots.

Wei Wushang observed Feng Tian while considering, 'For a normal mortal household of three, a single spirit stone a month would suffice to live on. Zhang Wei had only a wage of a single spirit stone, so he shouldn't have good savings. However, Feng Tian has been occupying the chief guard position for a long time, so he should have accumulated some quantity of spirit stones.'

'Right now, I have one spirit stone from Zhang Wei. Adding in this Feng Tian's monthly salary, I'll have another one and a half spirit stones in my hand. That's two and a half spirit stones right there, nearly five days' worth of cultivation that has been plundered. Now, it just depends on how frugal of a person this Feng Tian is. Hmm, looking at the house, I can see he has spent quite a bit to live comfortably.'

Wei Wushang held some expectations, though they weren't very high.

After precisely one minute had passed, Feng Tian returned with a handful of spirit stones. Wei Wushang's eyes lit up as he gazed at the small pile of spirit stones and mentally counted.
