Six: Cute

Third Point of View POV:

Akalea tries to do it again, lunging for Shawn's mid section. Shawn thought that she would try to lift him up again so he stood his ground putting weight on his legs to make himself heavier. What took Shawn in a surprise is that instead of feeling Akalea trying to lift him up, he felt himself being pushed back from the impact, falling to the ground with a 'plop'.

He didnt expect that Akalea was going to push him instead of lifting him up. This made Shawn feel dumb and laughs at himself as he didn't expect that. Akalea succeeded in pushing him down and landed on the floor. Akalea didn't give any time for Shawn to recover as she quickly crawls to where Shawn's head is and puts her right arm around his neck. Her left hand holding her right hand in place as Shawn didnt expect that yet again and began to hardly breath as the pressure on his neck was not too hard nor loose but perfectly enough to make him hardly breath.

Shawn turned a bit purple and everyone seeing this were flabbergast and could not believe their eyes. "Maybe she's just lucky cause she didn't win against Dawn." "Is this chick strong or is it just unexpected? Damn, she good. She caught him off guard." These thoughts running through everyone's heads as they continue to watch the fight in front of them.

Shawn was about to tap out meaning he admits defeat but Akalea beats him to it. She lets go seeing that Shawn was going to tap out. She let Shawn lay on her shoulder as she rubs his back to help his breathing. "You okay? I'm sorry I got carried away." Akalea apologized which made Shawn laugh. "Oh, no worries. I didn't expect you to do that at all."

Shawn gave Akalea a smile and got up, looking at Josh. "I admit defeat." Shawn laughs it out and Josh laughs as well nudging the two to go back to the group. "Well, that was unexpected. Oof.... That should be a lesson. Always expect the unexpected even when you least expected it." Josh says to the others as they look and listen to him.

Everyone nodded their heads and at the same time the bell rang. "Well that's it for Combat Training. If you guys need anything regarding Combat Training, come see me. Good luck with the next class." After Josh says that, Newt came walking towards Josh and high fived him. "Hey, Newt." Josh greets Newt with a smile after they high fived. Newt faced the the group of students and let out a 'huff'. While this was happening, Akalea took the chance to put her hair up in a ponytail and wiped her sweat away.

"Welcome to Power Training. I am Newt, your instructor." Newt looked handsome as he stood in front of everyone. The girls fawning over him while Akalea scoffed at the girls' actions. "With that being said, one by one, everyone will show what their power or powers are and will tell me and everyone their category/categories. I will decipher whether or not you guys are worth shit." Newt spoke out with no care at what they'll think. Everyone gasped and looked at Newt like he grew two heads.

"Who do you think you are to say that?! Do you know who I am? I will make you regre-" A guy said in rage as he approached Newt with the intent to show him who's boss. But it didn't go well when Newt built a forcefield and made a bow and arrow with his power of the wind. The arrow took off towards the guy and hit him before he finished saying his threat. The bow and arrow didn't look very refined but the aura and power within it was enormous. Akalea thought to herself.

The guy was pushed back which everyone gave way as the guy flew passed them, a good meters away from the group of students. Everyone was shocked and was rigid except of the Rankers and Akalea. Akalea just looked at Newt with awe thinking that he was cool. Awesome! Akalea snickered and faced towards the two teachers in front.

"Now, do you think you are strong? If you can beat me will I, then, decide that you are strong. If you don't want to be just like that guy over there, I'd advice you guys to start moving before I fail you all." Newt says sternly and void of any emotions. Everyone started to push each other to see who'll go show their power or powers first.

"Aha! I'm first! Move!" Steffan, the girl who tried to bully Akalea, walked forward after she pushed her way. Swaying her hips at the same time making Akalea fake a vomit. Steffan winked at Newt but Newt was not fazed by it which made Steffan irritated as she turns to look at the other students.

"Steffan Brikna, a Knight and my power is strength." Steffan pushed her chest up, proud of herself. Her girls cheered for her as well as the guys. "Hurry it up or I'll deem you trash." Newt says sternly which made Steffan panic and Akalea along with the Rankers snicker trying to hold in their laugh.

"Hmph!" Steffan stomps the floor irritated again and went to a very large boulder. Everyone watches her as she lifts it up with both her arms and walk her way back towards them. Smiling proudly but what she's really thinking is that she can't carry the boulder for too long. Newt and Josh could see that along with Akalea and the Rankers but the students watching were amazed by what Steffan did not even noticing that she is struggling minute after minute.

When Steffan came back to her spot in front, she got ready to throw the boulder back to it's place or she'll lose her grip from not having enough strength to carry it anymore. Steffan felt that she needs to throw it now so she did and the boulder went flying towards it's spot earlier and landed, shaking the ground. Steffan looks back at her peers and smiled proudly. Her peers cheered for her but the others were not amazed.

"You, stand on the left." Newt says pointing at an area and Steffan smiles and looks at her peers. "I guess I'm not trash." Steffan smirks at Akalea and went to the area. One by one, everyone showed their powers and categories. Different kinds of powers were shown and it was cool for Akalea to look at different powers of her classmates. There were a lot on the left area while a few on the right. Now the Rankers and Akalea were left. Josh then whispered into Newt's ear, "Call Akalea to come up."

Newt looks at Josh with an eyebrow raised but Josh just nods at him back with a knowing smile. Let's see if this stern-faced big guy friend of mine, Newt, can have a change of expression for once. The thought of Josh made himself smile knowing that ever since he saw Akalea, there was no one who could compare to her. "Ms. Akalea please come forward." Newt says looking for this Akalea person and saw a girl coming forward.

The second Newt saw Akalea, became a slow motion moment for him as he watches her walk. He was fascinated by her beauty which his stern expression became relaxed and his eyes slightly widened as he continues to look at her while Akalea was oblivious of this since she was trying to think of ways on what she's going to do.

Oh shit, what am I going to do?! Should I show one of my powers? I mean it's just one. I hope Father won't get mad at me for this. Is what Akalea was thinking in her mind. Looking in front of her with her eyebrows furrowed as she stepped forward. "Uhm, sir Newt, I haven't gotten my category yet, is that okay?" Akalea asks. Newt heard her voice and for him it was a soothing voice to listen to. Just then, Newt snapped back to reality and not a second later he looked confused.

Josh snicker beside Newt which he gave Josh a cold stare, finally sinking in that it was Josh's plan to catch him off guard by Akalea's beauty and voice. Newt looks back at Akalea and saw that she was looking at him waiting for an answer. Newt cleared his throat and Josh snickers again. Newt elbowed Josh as Josh grunts in pain but was chuckling while doing so. "But you're going to get yours later right?" Newt asks and looks at Akalea again which Akalea nodded. "Alright." Newt replied and cleared his throat and his stern face came back instantly.

Still oblivious to what's happening with Newt and Josh, Newt's reply made Akalea less worried as she is facing a lot of people who'll see her power. Which one should I show though? Akalea was thinking for so long that the students on the left area started to talk. "Hurry it up will you?!" "Do you even have powers?!" Everyone laughed at the last one thinking that Akalea doesn't have a power.

"Come on, Akalea! You can do this!" Zachary, one of the Rankers, cheered on as the other Rankers gave her a thumbs up and smiling. Akalea looked at Shawn, who gave her a nod, then at Dawn who gave her a little smile. Guess I'll have to show this one, then. She unmasked one power to use.

Akalea then pulls out her hand. Her palm facing upwards. Akalea closes her eyes and thought of a sword made out of wind just like the one she used during some of the trainings with her father. She felt the ripples through her body that went towards her palm. The sword of wind began to materialize with piercing sharp air rippling around the blade, forming a sword. Akalea opens her eyes and she smiled at the beautifully detailed sword made of wind.

She grabs the grip of the sword, the piercing wind not hurting her hand. She did a bit of swinging with the sword to get used to it. She then faced the direction of the boulder which Steffan carried and threw. She was meters away from the boulder, so she used both arms to grab the grip of the sword, so as to not look suspicious if she only used one, and did a slash motion. The sword pushes out a slash-like figure of wind and hurled towards the boulder, slashing it in half.

She then made the sword disappear and masked the power. "Holy shit!" Marcus let out with excitement. "I don't know what type of power that is but it sure looks cool!" Marcus lets out yet again. "What type of power is that? I've never seen anything like that." Newt says shocked as he looked at the slashed in half boulder.

Newt looked impressed from the beautifully designed sword which was way above his bow and arrow but now he is just appalled from the sword's stability and power. Newt still couldn't believe that such refined power could come out of Akalea. His heart flutters which is a first for him. "Oh, it's just wind. Just like what you did with your bow and arrow." Akalea bluntly says while scratching the back of her neck, nervously laughing.

"Just wind?!" Everyone and I mean e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. shouted in unison which made Akalea jump, surprised by the sudden outburst. "Yeah." Akalea replied while calming her heart from the unexpecting shouting of theirs. "How the hell is that just wind?!" Steffan screamed which were hurtful to the ears of many. "I had help from my master. He taught me how to refine my power." Is what Akalea said. "I don't believe that." One of Steffan's friends remarked. "Believe it or not, I don't care. I don't need to prove it to you." Akalea bit back which made the others go 'ooooohhh'. Steffan and her friends shrunk in embarrassment.

So much for not attracting attention, huh Akalea? Akalea mentally face palmed herself totally forgetting that she needs to not attract too much attention. Oh well. Akalea sighs. "Ms. Akalea, please go to the right side." Newt says as he is still watching the boulder that was slashed in half, amazed. "I guess it wasn't that amazing?" Another one of Steffan's friends let out and laughed along with the others, trying to get out of the embarrassment.

Akalea just shook her head, ignoring them. Akalea watched the remaining people, the Rankers, showing their powers and telling their category/categories. What made Akalea's eye go wide was that each of them were placed on the right side where Akalea and a few students are at. The faces of the people on the left side fallen into a grim aura as they saw that the Rankers were placed on the right side instead of the left. "It seems one Ranker isn't here..... Let us continue." Newt says and stood firmly in front of everyone. Gone was the amazed expression of Newt and the stern faced Newt is back.

"The ones on the left side..." Newt faced the people on the left and looked at them one by one. Each of their expression were not looking good as they didn't expect what came next. "T.R.A.S.H. Trash." Newt says with eyes that could kill. "What?!" "This cant be?!" The people on the left started to scream not believing what Newt says.

"The people on the right. Congrats." Is all what Newt says, glanced a bit at Akalea seeing her surprised look but still looks pretty then turned away as he went back to his place next to Josh. Josh sees this and gave Newt a look with his eyebrows wiggling. Newt smacks him in the head and faced towards the students while Josh was laughing and rubbing the pain. "Easy, man." Josh lets out with a smile. Newt ignored him.

The people on the right high fived each other while the other side were in despair. "The people on the left, if you want to be like the people on the right, work harder. You don't have much control over your powers and you don't last for long when using your powers. I don't care whether you are from the Royal, noble, rich, big, powerful families or from either of them who claim to be geniuses. In my eyes, everyone is equal. If you think you are a genius, there is always someone stronger and better than you. Never lose your path and never let arrogance corrode you. Look at the right side, not all of them are from Royalty or from rich, big, powerful families but they are better than you 'geniuses'. There are multiple reasons why they are much better than you 'geniuses', they didn't stray away from their path. They want to continue in improving themselves and they aren't arrogant. These are the only reasons I'll say for now. Don't be discouraged but use this as a fuel to let the fire within you grow." Newt says with no care at all well I mean he cares he just doesn't want to show it. Yet, Akalea, the Rankers, and the few other people admire his personality and his way of teaching.

Newt took a quick glance at Akalea and found that she was looking at him, her eyes were filled with admiration then he turned away as quickly trying to fight the redness of blushing from coming with a cough. Josh smacks Newt hard on the back which Newt was caught off guard and that made the feeling to blush go away. "Continue the class, man." Josh gave Newt a knowing smile and faced the students, letting Newt compose himself back. While doing this though, Josh felt a pull on his heart which is a little painful but still felt by Josh. What is this? Josh wondered.

"Next up is to hold your power out, and use only one, until you can't no more. We will be doing this for the whole two hours that we have. Those who manage to hold on for 30 minutes will get two points. Each 30 minutes till it finishes the two hours, have two points each. Those who cannot accomplish even 30 minutes will not be given points. Those who hold out till the end will receive the points and 20 gold from me. This is only for today since it is the first day of class. I need to see whether you can hold on." Newt says holding out a little bag like what Josh did earlier.

The students started to cheer. ---If you're wondering why they cheered or wanting the money, it's because the students need to earn money by doing tasks, missions or accomplishing the tests in classes and is stripped off of money they came with when they enrolled in the academy.---- Newt hid the little bag in his pocket as he watched the students piling themselves in front of Newt while giving each other a good distance away from each other.

"The points however are very important. We will have a points system. You'll need to get at least 200 points by the end of this school year. If you don't, you'll fail this class. If you earn ten points, you get one gold. If you get twenty points you get two gold. Thirty points for three gold and so on so forth. Now, start." Newt says waving his hand motioning them to start as the information was settling in the minds of the students especially Akalea since she came without anything with her, let alone money which was stolen by the demon-thief person two days ago. She now has twenty gold with her since she got it from the classes before.

Everyone started to let their powers out. It's easy to let the power out but it is difficult for one to hold it for so long if not trained or experienced enough. Those who chose or has strength ran to find big and heavy things to carry and came back to their spots to hold it. Those with speed, ran from one place to another without stopping. Those with teleportation, did the same with the ones with speed which is teleporting to one place to another. Those with elemental power lets their chosen element out by their palms or bodies to be seen. Those with telekinesis would make an object levitate. Those with healing would just emanate the color of their healing power that they like when they heal someone which can be green, blue, red and such.

Those who can clone would clone themselves. Those who can stealth would stay in stealth mode. So on so forth with the other powers. Akalea though chose the wind power again as she unmasked it. Akalea breathed in and then out calming herself as she pushes her hands out, her palms facing upward as she starts to feel the wind picking up.

She closes her eyes and imagined a dagger with beautiful designs. She felt her body feeling the same ripples from earlier and when she opens her eyes, the beautifully designed dagger she imagined was right in front of her. The wind surround the dagger was piercingly sharp that if someone comes close would get cut just by being near it. Akalea felt the weapons she uses to create and make were dangerous to everyone but her. Akalea smiles at her creation.

Newt and Josh were inspecting everyone with their powers as the time ticked on. Josh stopped in front of Akalea, enthralled by the dagger in front of her. "Don't come closer, sir Josh. If you get near it, you get cut." Akalea warns Josh which made Josh chuckle when he heard her warning. "Don't worry, ms. Akalea. I can manage with thi-" Josh says and went closer but at the same time, "No, stop!" Akalea sternly says but Josh didn't get it in time. He felt something cut him. He looks down and saw his shirt was cut open, revealing his toned upper body.

"Okay... I should've listened to you." Josh says and stepped back. Josh didn't bother to cover up. Akalea could only blush and look away trying not to lose her concentration on her dagger as she saw the toned upper body of Josh which Josh found it amusing. Newt was already alarmed when Akalea called out the word 'stop' and saw the incident in front of him. Newt saw Akalea blushing with the shirt of Josh that was cut revealing his upper body. Newt quickly walk towards Josh and pulls his shirt up to cover Josh's upper body.

"Josh, you should change." Newt says giving Josh a look and Josh puts up his hands. "Okay, okay." Josh told Newt and before he could go, he winks at Akalea and left. As Josh was walking towards the academy he felt liquid dripping down his stomach. The place where his shirt was cut was on the chest area down to his stomach, has literally a cut on his chest with blood slowly dripping down. It just became evident now that he was walking away. Damn, I didn't even noticed that my shirt wasn't the only one that was cut but my chest to my stomach as well. Good thing it wasn't deep of a cut... Interesting indeed. He went to the infirmary to get healed and went to his room to change then came back.

While Josh walked away, Newt faced Akalea. He didn't know what to say as he kept on looking at her, loss for words. He then notices the dagger above her palms. Oh, shit. It looks so cool. Newt started move closer to look at it better but Akalea stopped him from doing so. She used her right hand to stop him from coming closer leaving her left hand with the dagger. Newt didn't see her hand fast enough which made him feel her hand in between his chest and stomach. He stops immediately when he felt her hand, intending to stop him. Newt looked at Akalea who was blushing from the touch but didn't lose her concentration from her dagger.

"Please don't come closer. I don't want you to get hurt like sir Josh." Akalea says still blushing which looked cute for Newt. Akalea pulls her hand back and placed it under the dagger. "Josh wasn't hurt though, it was just his shirt that was cut." Newt says as he didn't see a wound of some sort on Josh. Akalea shook her head. "It may seem like that but he really was hurt. It may not show directly but it'll show moments later." Akalea says as she stares at the dagger. Newt stares at her as she spoke. Pretty. Newt couldn't figure out why he was so attracted to her.

Meanwhile Dawn and Shawn didn't speak out as they were beside Akalea concentrating on holding their power and trying to not get distracted by what was happening with Akalea. They felt a hit of anger and jealousy as they heard and saw with their peripheral vision with what happened. They calmed down when Newt walked away to watch the others.

"How you holding up?" Shawn asks to both Akalea and Dawn. "Good." Dawns answers. "Fine. You?" Akalea answers and asks back. "Fine as well." After the conversation between them, there was silence as they concentrate on their power. Josh came back and reassured Akalea he was fine when Akalea asked him if he was okay. Akalea relaxed as she didn't want to hurt anyone unintentionally and accidentally. Josh continues to monitor the others with Newt.

Before thirty minutes could come, many stopped and were on the floor breathing heavily. By the time thirty minutes came, the others decided to stop, too. Thinking it was better to have points than none at all so they hold it out till thirty minutes. The ones left were the people who were on the right area. An hour came by and the Rankers along with Akalea were left. An hour and thirty minutes rolled by eight of the ten Rankers present, stopped and drop on the floor not having the strength to hold it anymore.

"Ah, I can't go on." Dean says as he sat on the floor catching his breath as the other Rankers who stopped agreed with him. Now, only Dawn, Akalea and Shawn were left. Shawn starts to weaken as his powers began to malfunction. Dawn was struggling as well. They were both sweaty by now as it is an hour and fifty minutes on the dot. "Hold out both of you. Ten minutes more and we're done. We're almost there." Akalea encourages them when she saw that they were struggling while she wasn't. She was steady and calm while her powers for now was flowing steadily.

Newt and Josh saw what Akalea did and they were impressed. Just by what Akalea said, the two brothers held it in for another ten minutes and when the bell rang, they were finally done. The two brothers dropped on the ground breathing heavily and Akalea was left standing so she followed suit, dropping down and feigned to breath heavily. Newt and Josh saw Akalea do that and wanted to chuckle which Josh did chuckle while Newt held it in. She's cute.

When the bell rang, it was already night time which the students didn't notice till now. There were lights illuminating the field outside which Akalea admired the place at night time. "Okay, class is dismissed. Akalea, Dawn and Shawn please stay for a bit." Newt clapped his hand as he says the first part and everyone cheers that the class is finally done. They went towards the academy while the trio were left. "Uhm, I didn't expect someone to actually hold out for two hours let alone three people at once. Because of that, I only have twenty gold with me." Newt says as he proudly stares at the three of them. "Akalea should have it. If it weren't for her encouragement , we would've dropped at that moment." Shawn says as he slid his arm around her shoulder giving her a little hug. The other three guys saw what Shawn did and were a little jealous.

"Yeah, she should have it." Dawn says as he grabs Akalea's waist pulling her towards him. The arm of Shawn came off of Akalea's shoulder. Shawn was shocked by Dawn's actions to which he shakes his head and chuckles. The two men in front of them saw the exchange wanting to do it as well. Akalea just stood there blushing in front of four super hot guys. "Hey, stop itt." Akalea pushes Dawn and Shawn away while still blushing. "By the way, thanks. I really needed it so thank you very much." Akalea gave her thanks and pushes her hands out to receive the little bag. She looked up while doing so looking at Newt. The four men witness what she did, looking like a child holding up her hands asking for candies. She looked like a kid in front of them since they are taller than her.

It looked very cute for them. Newt placed the little bag in her hands and pat her head. Akalea gave him a smile and said "Thank you.". Newt's heart skipped a beat when she smiled. She's going to be the death of me. Newt thought to himself. "Why do you need it so much, though? I mean you came with your master, right?" Josh asks curiously. "Not actually came together, but technically the same happening just with different ways. Me and master came together, master being escorted while I was in a cell. To which me and master were taken from home without our belongings or money. Now I have no money nor clothes but I got clothes from the academy so it's only the money." Akalea flails her arms up as she said it. The four guys tensed up as they heard her reason. "That's just awful." The four of them exclaim in unison which scared Akalea.

"You can come to me if you have any problems." Newt says sternly which surprised Akalea. "Same here. You can come to me as well." Josh says giving Akalea a smile and walking towards her with his arms out to hug her. Newt saw this and went in between them. "Newt, what the hell man!" Josh yells out and Newt just ignored him. "I just wanted to hug her, is that so bad? Dawn and Shawn did it, why cant I?" Josh pouts and crossed his arms.

Akalea just laughed at what's happening in front of her. The only thing that can make Akalea blush is of unexpected happenings that can make her heart flutter and if she is expecting it, she wont blush but becomes bold and does the first move. "You're a grown ass man, Josh." Newt rebuts and Josh gasps in feigned shock. "Hey! I know you want to hug her, too! Or is it you've fallen in love with me?" Josh says as he motions to hug Newt. Newt avoids the terrifying action of Josh but Josh chases him. The three who were watching the scene in front of them were laughing, even Dawn was laughing.

Akalea saw Dawn laughing for the first time because he looked carefree and relaxed which surprised her as she points at Dawn. "You're laughing! Oh my!" Akalea exclaims which caught everyone's attention. They had never seen Dawn laugh in years. Dawn stopped laughing and was void of emotion. Akalea didn't like it that he stopped. Everyone was now in front of Dawn. Akalea was in front of him nudging his chest with her finger. Dawn looks down watching her do it. "You laughed didn't you? If you don't answer honestly, I'll do something and you won't like it." Akalea says as she thoughts of a plan. If she expects and plans to do it then she is confident and bold to do it. "Try me." Dawn says challenging her.

Without a moment later, Akalea grabs Dawn's neck pulling his face towards hers and just a few inches before their lips would touch, she swerved and walked backwards. Leaving a wide-eyed Dawn. Dawn didn't expect that at all as his heart was doing leaps. The three guys watched the whole thing and were jealous. "Aka, you can't do that!" Shawn says as he walks towards Akalea and Akalea swiftly turns around and grabs Shawn's neck pulling him to her doing the same thing she did to Dawn, swerving at the last second. Shawn was flabbergasted and couldn't move. Shawn was now blushing.

Newt and Josh looked at each other confirming to themselves that what happened did happen. "Ms. Akalea stop doi-" Newt says but couldn't finish when Akalea yet again swiftly turns towards Newt grabbing his neck and doing the same thing again. Newt is now the same like Dawn and Shawn. Akalea laughed at them which the three of them snap out of it. "Why you little." The three victims said at the same time as they slowly walk towards her.

"Told ya'll I'll do something you wouldn't like." Akalea says with her arms up. Yet, the heartbeats of these three guys in front of her were beating otherwise. "What about me??" Josh points at himself feeling left out. "Oh." Was all Akalea said and went to hug Josh. Josh opens his arms willingly and the three guys were about to stop Akalea, she beat them to it. She swerved the hug at the last moment. "Aha!" She points at Josh while laughing. The three guys laughed with her as they see Josh shocked as hell. "Why don't we teach you a lesson for teasing us, aye?" Josh says which the other three agreed. The four hunks were now slowly walking towards Akalea with the eyes of a predator.

"You guys going to kill me? Or-" Akalea ran away cutting herself halfway to run. The four guys looked at each other and laughed. While Akalea was running for her life, she returned to the Academy and ran to her room. Locking her door and leaned on it while catching her breath. Akalea, what did you just do?!?! Akalea touched the area where her heart is at. Her heart beating so fast. She didn't know if it was because of the running or that she did tease those four guys. She shakes her head and held her reddened face, trying to calm down.

Meanwhile, the four guys just let her run away as they laugh. "That girl is cute and pretty and.... mysterious." Josh says and the other three agreed. "If you guys don't like her like that, can I ha-" Josh didnt finish when the three yelled, "NO!" "Damn. Chill!" Josh puts his arms up while laughing.

"Wait, you guys like her like that, too?" Josh says and the three guys went silent, which meant yes in silence. "Damn, we all like the same girl." Josh says as all of them looked at her retreating figure. The four guys remembered the past of them growing up together not knowing the them now would like the same girl.
