Chapter 18: Communication Crystal

Vaelorian stared for a few more moments before entering the house. His half-sister Bloom was sleeping peacefully, snuggled to her brother. He observed them for a minute. His thoughts were a mess again, if this thing worked then he would have to keep killing people around his age and that's going to harbor a lot of attention. He also didn't have anything that could store the blood so he could drink it later. Maybe he could kidnap and imprison them somewhere?

A complicated expression appeared on Vaelorian's face as he stared at his half-siblings sleeping peacefully. Well, this is future Vaelorian's problem, he thought and started compressing the mana.

He carefully aimed his finger at Bloom's head and shot the bullet. The mana bullet easily penetrated her head and she died peacefully. Vaelorian carefully bent down and bit her throat, the blood started gushing down his mouth and he drank it all. After two minutes he could no longer suck any more blood and stopped.

His half-brother Nolan was sleeping peacefully, without a care of the world. Vaelorian's gaze moved towards Bloom's chest, he had an urge to rip out her heart. Vaelorian closed his eyes and controlled himself.

He looked at the hole in her head and frowned, people are going to investigate further if he left the hole as it is. Vaelorian formed several more mana bullets and shot near the previous one. The bits and pieces of brain scattered around the bed.

After making sure that there was no link between Bloom and his previous murders Vaelorian left the hut. It was late at night and there was no sign of any human. They all were sleeping peacefully. Vaelorian wandered around for some time before finally walking home.

The next day Vaelorian checked his appearance and was pleasantly surprised. He was young again! His theory was right. It all depended on what type of blood he consumed. Did that mean that he could live forever as long as he consumed the young blood? Will normal citizens live this long?

Vaelorian left his house and immediately saw Lan Liuyue talking with one of his neighbors. He turned and nodded towards Vaelorian and walked towards him.

"I am ready to help you and divert the attention."

Vaelorian observed him before nodding. They both started walking towards the south gate of the shanties.

"Do you know any defensive spells?" Vaelorian looked at Lan Liuyue.

"Yes I have one, what are you going to give me in return?"

"The information about the dark element."

Lan Liuyue's eyes slightly widened before he nodded. "The name of the spell is mana shield. It's a pretty basic spell, the mana is gathered and solidified enough to block an attack from one side."

Vaelorian nodded in understanding. He had a vague idea about how he could form the mana shield now. He never tried solidification but he had a feeling that he was going to need more blood and a larger amount of mana to form a shield.

"Well, you cannot manipulate dark elements. It corrupts the body as soon as it enters. I don't have experience in that aspect but what I said is true." Vaelorian spoke remembering his mom's words.

"I see," Lan Liuyue fell into deep thought and they walked silently.

Vaelorian observed that he was fine. He withheld the information because Lan Liuyue never questioned about more. This was another loophole. He inwardly sighed and they soon reached the river.

"Why are we here?" Lan Liuyue asked.

"I am going to attack you and I need you to block it with mana shield." Vaelorian casually spoke and distanced himself from Lan Liuyue.

Before Lan Liuyue could speak, ten blue streaks rushed and him. Lan Liuyue immediately formed the shield and blocked the bullets completely. Vaelorian observed the shield before nodding.

"Are you mad? The fuck?"

"Relax, I just wanted to see you use it and confirm the strength of the shield."

"What spell did you use on me?"

"Mana bullets,"

"Teach me,"

"Look closely," Vaelorian demonstrated the mana flow and compression. He slowly released the pressure and a blue streak hit the tree making a tiny but deep hole in its trunk.

"Can you show me two more times?"

A little suspicious but Vaelorian did what he asked of and soon after, Lan Liuyue copied his technique flawlessly. The intensity was much weaker but he has learned mana bullets!

'System is really dangerous,' Vaelorian was genuinely scared as he looked at Lan Liuyue shooting mana bullets.

"I am out of mana damn." He cursed before finally acknowledging Vaelorian.

"Can you tell me what is happening at the mansion? Do you guys have a problem with us or something?" Vaelorian asked changing the topic.

"You want the honest answer? Yes, you can say that more than 70% of us have ulterior motives and are selfish. We never would have thought that we would get reincarnated and get a system. The potential to get strong is boundless and everyone is making use of it."

"What is Li Han planning? How is he so close with the king?"

"I have no idea regarding that aspect. The last thing I heard is that he is going to teach us spells and basic techniques that he read from the journal written by your god Celestrios."

Vaelorian fell silent. Things were moving at a pace that was beyond his capabilities and soon he would be left behind to a point that it would be difficult to catch up.

"Do you know we found another ruined city? It's farther than the previous one but the buildings are more intact and the elders are delighted. It will take a day to travel there, and we are going to stay there for a minimum of three days."

"Are you going?"

"Yes, I want to see this myself."

"I am coming with you."

'Maybe I will find the clues related to the temple?' He thought.

"Take this," Lan Liuyue took out a crystal. "A communication crystal, we can talk with it.

Just feed it some mana and say my name. My crystal will start shining and vibrating, it's just like a mobile phone."

'Mobile phone?' Vaelorian did what he was asked of and saw a faint light emitting from Lan Liuyue's clothes. He took out his crystal and Vaelorian's shocked face was visible in the crystal.

"It can even carry voices," Lan Liuyue spoke as the crystal repeated the same thing.

"Why do you look so shocked? It's hard to believe that you are from Zephyrion." He laughed.

"Just who are you guys?" Vaelorian muttered and put the crystal in his pocket.

Lan Liuyue observed Vaelorian as they started walking back towards Aetherholm city. Vaelorian kept shocking him. He even knew about Li Han! Was that guy really that influential?

Lan Liuyue needed Vaelorian's help and it only proved right when he provided him with the information about the dark element. He could not have found it alone. The system was not giving him any hints despite his surety towards his goals.

How can he become the demon king when he can't even control the dark element? There must be some way. If he becomes a demon then will he be able to the element? But how can he become a demon?

The very thought of ruling the demons excited him, he observed Vaelorian who was in his own thoughts. What is his goal? Lan Liuyue thought as they both walked silently.
