Ian knew that they could not continue until the matter outside was taken care of. He could only kick himself because his earlier enjoyment of pissing Jake off might have caused this. 

Before Scarlet could get up to get dressed, Ian said, "Stay here."

Scarlet still tried to get up so she could see what damage was being done to her estate. How could there be a fire when there were so many guards around to make sure something like this never happened? Unless it had been an inside job. 

"It is my estate that is on fire," said Scarlet.

"And I shall make sure that it does not burn to the ground, so stay here. Do not move from this bed. Just stay as I have asked you to because we are far from over. When I return, I expect to see you as I instructed you to just now," Ian said as he got off the bed to get dressed.

Scarlet couldn't help but make the comment that came to mind. "You want me to remain in bed laying on my stomach until you return?"
