The Red Eyed King

———————sneak peek——————- Just as I was about to turn to do another lap of the cabin something grabbed my hair and slammed my head into the kitchen bench. My body sank to the floor stars clouding my vision. My hand went to my head something wet staining them. Looking down at my fingers fear overcame me as I saw blood. Some one chuckled behind me making me turn my head too fast the world spinning with it. My eyes widened as the stranger from earlier slowly came into focus. I tried to stand up but my head pounded making me slump back to the ground. The stranger took one slow step at a time as he bent down to my level. "Wh....what....?" I tried to talk but the swirling in my head wouldn't stop. Reaching out he grabbed my hair lifting me to my feet. His grip on my hair was making my head hurt more forcing a small yelp out of my mouth. I tried to push him away but it was like trying to swat a fly. His eyes glowed as he stared down at me. His lips spread into a smile showing his canines. "I found you." I glared at him through my pain induced haze. This only seemed to make his lips spread wider. "Don't look at me like that cherry blossom. It's your own fault. you know how I get when your not with me." I tried to speak again confused by his words. "Wh...who....are...you?" He let go of my hair quickly wrapping his arms around me the movement jolting my already spinning head. My hands were trapped between us as he reached with his hand touching my face. His fingers tracing my jaw line. "You really don't know do you?" Terrified my voice shook as i cringed away from his touch. I could only manage one word but it was enough for him to know what I was asking. "Why?" He laughed grabbing my hair again pain making my body shake. His face twisted making his handsome face turn ugly. Leaning closer his lips pressed up against my ears like it was a secret. "Because your mine." A low growl escaped my throat that was cut off as he started to drag me to the door by my hair. What was he doing? Where was he taking me? Why did he want me? Was he someone from my past? Is this what I was running from when I ended up in the woods four years ago? I tried to grab whatever I could but everything just slipped through my fingers. I couldn't let him do this, I had to fight. I was stronger then this. I heard the door to the cabin swing open as he dragged me outside. Taking a deep breath I used the incline of the stairs to kick off as I grabbed his hand that was tangled in my hair I swung my leg around kicking him in the head. His grip on my hair loosened enough that I could get free. Forcing myself to my feet I ran, as I ran I shifted into wolf mid stride. in wolf form the pain in my head started easing the shift exhilarating the healing process. Now that I could think straight I dug my paws preparing to pick up the speed. I never got the chance however as I was hit from behind. The weight of his wolf pinning me to the ground as he dug his teeth into the scuff at my neck. I yelped at the pain as his teeth sank into the flesh beneath. He stopped biting down before he snapped my neck. Pulling back he bit down again this time on my side. Pain enveloped my whole body the ground turning red with my blood. I tried to get him off, snapping at him. Tried sinking my teeth into his black and white coat to the flesh beneath but my strength was weaning. He was too strong and I was loosing too much blood. There was nothing I could do as my body went still. I lay panting exhausted with no way out. Whoever this was had won and was going to take me. Every fibre in my being knew that once he did I'd never return again. Just as my eyes started to close my exhaustion starting to make me loose consciousness the pressure that was digging into my side was ripped away. With effort I forced my eyes open as the sounds of growling filled the woods. My eyes followed the sounds to see the biggest wolf. His pure black pelt the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

"Where the hell are you taking me!"

I ignored her my hand still holding her arm as I guided her easily up the stairs. She growled at my silence. Pausing only when Cora appeared down one of the halls on the second floor.

"Ver what's happening? Who is that?"

I scowled my lips rolling back.

"You can ask Sloane that."

Her eyes took in the female I held as I continued to drag her further up the stairs. The scent of Lilles disappeared, leaving orchards and cherry blossoms. My nose flared at the scent. What was it about this female? How was she doing this? Angry I pulled on her arm harder as I took her to the third floor. If she was staying here it would be away from the others where I can keep a close eye on her.

"You don't have to pull so hard you know."

Again I ignored her until we reached the room next to mine. She would have no chance of sneaking out at night now and with Ty watching her throughout the day we would be safe. Opening the door I shoved her in, entering the room behind her. The room in question was much like mine the reds and blacks matching. It was just a big with king size bed and seating complete with TV. It had its own walk-in wardrobe and bathroom with shower and bath. It was more then she deserved considering I still wasn't convince she was not the enemy.

"Sit."

She scowled at me but did as I'd ordered and sat down in one of the chairs in the seating area. Her eyes held defiance, she was spirited I'd give her that much. Even though I sensed she was scared she was trying hard not to show it.

"While you are here you will not leave the grounds. At night you will be in your room at eight o'clock no later. During the day you can leave the house but if you step one foot passed the tree line Ty has orders to drag you back and you will be locked up for the remainder of your stay. You will eat meals in the dinning hall with the rest of the pack. If you try to go off on your own at any point you will be locked up and your stay here will go much harder. Do you understand?"

She crossed her arms huffing in anger refusing to answer. I scowled down at her my wolf getting angry.

"You will answer when being spoken to."

Her lips pulling back her own wolf fighting my words. Snarling I grabbed her arm pulling her up til I was inches away from her.

"Make no mistake she wolf of you step one paw out of line I will assume you are the enemy and will treat you as one."

Something changed in her making my anger slip away as a lone tear escaped her eye making the blue shine like sapphires. She spoke through gritted teeth.

"What's the point you've already made up your mind. You might as well just lock me up now since it's what you want."

Her voice shook with emotion making my wolf whimper to see her hurting. Letting go of her arm I reached up wiping the tear from her cheek my hand lingering despite myself. Her eyes softened as she leaned into my hand. The movement was like I slap in the face. I snapped my hand back remembering who she was a growl escaping my lips. This female was good, however what I saw in her eyes was not scheming but confusion. Almost like she hadn't even realised what she'd done. I stepped back turning to head for the door but something made me stop. Looking back I saw hate in her eyes. There was so much sadness in her it made my heart ache. I opened my mouth to say something. To say what I had no idea, in the end I just turned and closed the door behind me.

"Third floor?"

Sighing I pushed passed Ty who was stationed at her door. I scowled at him.

"Who better to help watch her at night then me and this way I'll be able to make sure you keep it in your pants."

Ty grimace at my words turning his head slightly. That's when I noticed the bruise starting to form near his eye. He noticed me looking his hand scratching his head as he shrugged.

"Let's just say I get the picture Sloane saw to that."

I chuckled. I'd never known Sloane to ever punch anyone unless provoked. Knowing Ty he made a snide comment about the girl.

"Just watch her Ty and I mean what I said in there she even steps one foot or paw out of line lock her up downstairs."

His lips curved in a smile desire in his eyes quickly I punched him in the arm knowing exactly what he was thinking.

"Stop thinking with your dick!"

He acted like he didn't know what I was talking about but I had seen the handcuffs in his room. Finally he chuckled.

"Sorry Ver I can't help it you know how I get with fresh meat."

I growled making him flinch. Shaking my head sighing I looked back at her door. I could hear her getting in the shower a sudden desire to join her. I could feel Ty's eyes on me as lust overtook me.

"Guess I'm not the only one."

Snapping my head back I pushed passed him.

"I need a drink."

I could still hear Ty laughing as I descended the stairs. Going into my office I sat behind my desk opening one of the side draws. Just as I pulled out a glass and a bottle of scotch the door opened.

"You going to pure me one of those?"

I chuckled grabbing a second glass for Owen as he sat down across from me. Like me he wore the events of today of his face. Leaning forwards he took the glass and sighed after downing the whole lot. I copied him then pored another for both of us.

Staring at the glass in my hand we sat in silence both lost in our own thoughts. I wasn't sure what he was thinking but if it was anything like what was plaguing me we both needed this drink. Owens voice finally broke the silence.

"Is it wise to have her so close?"

My eyes finally met his. I couldn't read what was in those blue iris's but if I had to guess he was worried.

"It's better then locking her up."

Owens ran a hand through his hair taking another sip.

"To be honest I thought that's what you had in mind."

I growled at him.

"I'm not a monster Owen."

He shook his head leaning forward to rest his arms on his knees.

"That's not what I'm saying Ver."

"Then what?"

I watched him as he struggled to find the right words knowing the wrong ones would set off my wolf. Giving up he sat back waving his hands in defeat.

"Forget it."

Silence set in between us again my thoughts curious. Why would he think I'd want to lock her up? I mean sure I didn't trust her but that didn't mean I would lock her up.

"I'm sorry Ver I didn't mean it like you think it's just I see the way your wolf reacts around her. It's almost like-"

A low growl had my lips pulled back cutting him off.

"We've talked about this Owen we wolves only get one. That fact that I'm king means that even more. Only Rix had the power to stop the dark inside me no one else can do it....."

My eyes went back to my glass almost as an after thought I added.

"No matter how much she looks like her."

I could feel Owens eyes on me, the weight of that stare had me standing up as I downed the rest of my drink.

"I'm going to bed have Sloane double the security detail on the mansion. If they do come for her we can't leave any gaps."

Owen nodded. Just before I got to the door his voice made me pause.

"What will you do if she is innocent in all this?"

My hand gripped the door handle making it protest with the force of it. Turning slightly I answered his question.

"If she's innocent....she's free to go."

I took one last look at him before I closed the door. Once back on the third floor I glanced towards her door where Ty stood guard. He saluted me a goofy grin on his face. I ignored him and went into my room. Taking my shirt off I headed for the shower I needed cold water if I was going to get through the night with her just in the next room. Just thinking about her had me straining my ears to listen to what she was doing. Her footsteps were going back and forth like she was pacing. I could sense her unease from here. Sighing I pushed her from my thoughts and got in the shower.

Half hour later I was in bed wearing just my boxers. I listened to her footprints as she continued to pace. Her footsteps were laboured like she was still in pain but it didn't seem to stop her. For hours she walked backwards and forwards til finally she stopped. I heard her climb into bed and not long after I could hear her steady heart beat as she fell asleep.

I knew her transition here would not be easy, how could it after what she went through. Her wounds would still take a few days to fully heal when they should have healed already. It made me think of the alpha I fought. It was true that I hadn't seen the alpha that killed my parents since that night. He kept himself hidden well. Every time I thought I was close to finding him the trail would go cold. So who was this other alpha? Was he even a part of the lunar eclipse pack or was he a part of some other pack. Owen had said it was the lunar alpha that bit the she wolf but there are others with that particular venom. None of them would dare come into my territory unannounced of course.

I growled into the darkness frustration getting to me. There was just too many variables, too many things we didn't know. I thought back to her blonde hair almost white so much like hers and the blue eyes they were the same. Both were traits you would see a lot in the silver moon pack at the very least there had to be some kind of connection. There was only one way to find out. Tomorrow I'll get Owen to do a DNA test. We can match it to Owens if there's a family relationship the test will be able to determine it. Of course it wouldn't prove her innocence far from it but at least we'd have a better idea of what we're dealing with.

Of course if Sloane had of told me about her four years ago I could have done the test then. In keeping her secret he probably wasted four years of her life. He really was still a kid in so many ways.

Now that I had a plan of action sleep came to me at last.
