Murderous Intent

Cool liquid splashed on her, making Lilah take a step back in response. She furrowed her eyebrows and raised her head, finding Alicia standing in front of her.

The girl's lips were parted, appearing shocked and alarmed. She was dressed in an uniform and held a tray. The drink spilled somewhat from the glass.

"Lilah? Oh gosh. I am so sorry. Are you alright?" Alicia sounded worried.

"You really can't go around without creating trouble." Lilah didn't hide the disdain in her voice.

Not wishing to interact with her any longer, Lilah walked towards the washroom. Alicia's eyes lingered on her back for few seconds before she shifted her line of sight.

°°°

While cleaning the dress in the washroom, she felt uncomfortable due to the wet sensation. She called her secretary and asked her to send a change of clothing with her driver.

Feeling slightly dizzy due to the alcohol intake, she pressed on her forehead while stepping out of the washroom. When she was about to let go of the door, a 'thump' resonated through the place.

Her alarmed eyes fell on the place the sound came from.

She first noticed the disheveled Alicia. Heavy breaths left the girl's mouth while she raised her hand on wipe away the sweat gathered on her forehead.

Holding her knees, she tried to gather her strength. She raised her head, and when her eyes met the emerald green ones, they widened.

"Lilah," she enunciated.

Lilah wanted to do nothing with her. Turning her back, she took a step forward to leave when Alicia's voice made her halt in her steps.

"Can you help me?"

About to question Alicia about it, she looked back when her expression froze. Her green eyes landed on that face.

She easily recognized the vicious man that ruined her life.

A sinister glint flashed through her eyes. Murderous intent started to brew within her as she only saw red.

Mason leaned against the wall, lying down weakly. He looked pale, and his lips were bloodless. He had his eyes closed, and his breathing was faint.

Even when he was at a vulnerable position, his strong and deep features gave off an intimidating image. It made Lilah feel sick.

Her heels clicked against the tiled floor as she walked towards him. Her rationality began to dissipate, and she wanted to end his life.

Everything she suffered due to him was vivid in her mind. The last strand of reason made her stop herself from acting recklessly.

It would be unfair to herself if she let him die so easily. He owed her a huge debt along with interest.

She clenched her hand into a tight fist, trying to suppress in the turbulent emotions.

Lilah was sensitive to how tense the atmosphere became. Nervousness showed on her expression. She wondered whether it was wrong of her to call Lilah.

At this point, she could only bite the bullet and said, "Some men are after him, and they want to harm. Can you help me take him out of here and hide him for now?"

This is how it went down in the novel although Lilah wasn't present in the scene. She didn't plan to intervene in the early storyline of the male lead and female lead. That would disrupt her plans greatly.

Because of a miscalculation, she ended up being here.

In the novel, Alicia rescued Mason on her own. He was injured but didn't want to be taken to the hospital. Therefore, Alicia brought him to a rundown hotel and took care of him.

Lilah wasn't exactly surprised since she knew it beforehand.

But even so, she was still curious.

Was Alicia honestly so foolish?

According to the novel, her living environments made Alicia mature faster than her peers, and she was a smart person.

She didn't grow up sheltered. Therefore, it didn't make sense for her to bear this naivety.

Normally, a person would call the security guards or at most police station. No one would generally go so far for a stranger.

After all, generosity aside, there are many more potential dangers involved. No one trusts a stranger these days.

Lilah, for a second, wanted to question Alicia but brushed off the idea.

Knowing Alicia, she could guess the boring answer she would be giving regarding humanity and all that nonsense.
