Lecherous Eyes

The agent guided both of them into the building. Although the environment wasn't much luxurious, it had decent security. It was a little far from the commercial center.

Because of that, there wasn't much bustling around the place, bringing about a sensation of peace. Most of the people residing here were the elderly people from well-off family.

Only few youngsters stayed here.

While walking, the agent described the advantages of staying in this community, using colorful and attractive words.

Jamie moved closer to Lilah and whispered, "Are you sure you want to live here? It looks boring. And it would take longer to commute."

"My life had been too chaotic lately. I believe I need some peace, and the apartments here are relatively cheap compared to the quality," Lilah commented.

Jamie furrowed her eyebrows and stated, "Talking about money lately— is your family going bankrupt? Why are you worrying so much about this little amount?"

Lilah stared at her friend and sighed.

"You would know how valuable this amount of money is if you went through poverty. It's tough," Lilah expressed, "and I have a feeling I have to spend a lot in the future. It's better to prepare from the beginning."

Jamie looked at her friend suspiciously.

Why would Lilah ever understand poverty?

Jamie decided that she was only being dramatic.

"Spend a lot in the future? What? Are you planning to do drugs? I heard that they drain you out of money fast," Jamie thoughtfully spoke out. There was a hint of curiosity and interest in her eyes.

The corner of Lilah's lips hooked up in ridicule, as if calling her an idiot. The disdain made Jamie scrunch her nose.

"Then, are you planning to raise a male lover? I thought they cost a lot," Jamie vocalized.

Then, she mumbled, "That can't be it. You are engaged and in love with—"

"Something like that," Lilah cut her friend off.

"Eh!?"

Jamie's eyes widened, staring at her friend in disbelief. It took her couple of seconds to process that, and ignoring her friends stupefied expression, she walked forward.

Coming out of the daze, she rushed to catch up to Lilah, and accidentally her shoulder pushed against hers.

This made Lilah slip on her heels, and Jamie extended her hand, about to grab her friend to stabilize her when Lilah's shoulder was held by a pair of long fingers.

Lilah raised her head as the floral scents wafted into her nostrils. She paused at the sight of the handsome face before her.

A pair of black deep set eyes behind the glasses stared down at her, captivating her. The dark was neatly arranged, pushed back to reveal a smooth forehead.

Her eyes traced his face. He was an oriental beauty with mixed blood, shown off from his strong facial features.

He looked calm and reserved yet there was an imposing air around him, making it unable for others to ignore him. He was filled with charm of a mature man.

Lilah hardly got fascinated by people, but this man was on a whole new level.

No matter how much of a mess she was on the inside, the years of education and refining wouldn't let her lose her composure on the outside. She maintained her elegance.

She smiled slightly and expressed, "Thank you."

He nodded before walking off.

Unlike Lilah, Jamie didn't act restrained. She let her eyes follow after that man, ogling his figure. Lilah frowned at her friend.

"Damn! Now, that's a meal, one hot meal. Should I ask for his number?" Jamie was almost drooling.

Lilah stared at her friend in disdain.

Although the man was goodlooking, that didn't mean her friend should act foolishly over him.

"Get a grip over yourself. How mortifying!" Lilah commented.

A playful glint appeared in her eyes. Her lips curved to form a smirk, and Jamie stated, "Lilah, you are not as slick as you consider yourself to be. I saw you giving him those lecherous eyes. You wanted to tap that—"

Jamie immediately cut off her words when the agent turned back and asked, "Shall we take a look of the apartment?"

Only then did Jamie recall that the agent was with them the entire time, and she felt embarrassment arise inside her.

Lilah paid no more attention to her friend and nodded.
