Keep An Eye On

"Sure," Lilah answered.

The smile on Sylvia's face brightened at that. The sense of alienation she felt from Lilah faded away, and she started to be comfortable.

That must have been a misunderstanding.

Lilah went to work today, and maybe she was a little annoyed due to that.

"Then, that's settled. Thank you, Lilah. You are best! I love you the most!"

Although before she would have leaped forward and pulled Lilah into a tight hug, intuition told her that she wouldn't be appreciating it now.

"If that's all, I will be taking my leave. Don't create ruckus in hallway. It is quite unbecoming. Keep it quiet."

After that, Lilah head to her room.

°°°

Lilah opened the door of her car. She wore a pair of ripped jeans matched with a white turtleneck sweater. Because of the chilly weather, she wore a trench coat over it.

Seeing how Lilah had already gotten into the car made Sylvia rush, holding her bag clumsily. She grabbed the handle of the door and pulled it. She hurriedly entered the car.

Watching her wear the seatbelt, Lilah frowned, not appreciative of her being late. However, she concealed that, setting her face to indifference.

Next, she started to drive the car while Sylvia sat on the shotgun seat, texting her friends while wearing a smile on her face.

Sylvia was in the university band. She joined it because of finding it cool rather than having any talent for it.

Although she could hardly sing and not play any instruments, she brought in a lot of funds. Because of that, everyone welcomed her in with open arms.

And it's not as though she was entirely lacking. With the extensive practice, even though she wasn't up to the mark entirely, at least she didn't prove to be as embarrassing as before.

The reason why Sylvia preferred to ask Lilah to drive her around despite having drivers and other cars had to do with Lilah's fancy car. It was a limited edition, expensive, and one of a car.

Most wished to own one of these, and it took Lilah a lot of effort to secure her car. That's why, Sylvia enjoyed showing the car off, enjoying the envious looks of others.

The band was hired to play at a venue today, and Lilah parked her car out of the park. Then, removing her hands from the steering wheel, she leaned against the seat in a leisurely manner.

"Thank you, Lilah! Do you want to meet my friends?"

She looked eager.

But Lilah shook her head.

"No need for that."

Sylvia nodded understandingly. It would be unlike Lilah if she agreed to meet her friends.

With that, she was about to get down from the car when Lilah's calm yet imposing voice fell.

"Since you received help from me, wouldn't it be only reasonable if you did something for me in return?"

Sylvia pause and stared at Lilah in slight shock. Her eyebrows were furrowed.

Rather talking to her younger sister, it sounded as though Lilah was handling a business transaction.

Even though Lilah didn't have an affectionate nature, Sylvia rarely heard her use such a icy tone.

"Uh, I have to do something in return?"

Sylvia appeared to be at a loss.

Lilah was used to spoiling Sylvia occasionally, entertaining her at times because she found the younger girl to be cute.

But the betrayal she received from Sylvia in her last life was deeply imprinted in her mind.

Many of her emotions have washed off due to passage of times, and she wasn't sad about it anymore. But now, only anger was remaining inside her, finding it to be unfair.

Of course, she did quite a lot for Sylvia. Now, whether Sylvia liked it or not, she had to pay back for everything.

Lilah hated the idea of being a pathetic victim.

That was Alicia's role to play as the female lead.

As for her, she had to be the vicious villainess or else how would it be fun?

"Why? Were you planning to not pay me back? Are you naive or self-opinionated?"

A glint flashed through Lilah's eyes.

That made Sylvia flustered.

Her lips parted, not knowing how to reply, and seeing the growing displeasure in Lilah's eyes with each passing second made her hurriedly say.

"No, no, it's nothing like that. What do you need my help with? I will gladly do it."

Lilah gave her a satisfied smile.

"Keep an eye on Alicia for me, and give me a report of each of her actions."

"Uh, Alicia? Why? Did she do anything to offend you? Do you want me to take care of her?" Sylvia showed astonishment.

"Don't do anything I didn't ask from you."
