46- Reliving the Past

As Calvin fell unconscious, Dix fell to his knees suddenly feeling that his body was too heavy for him.

"*Cough!* Damm it! Gran! come get me up!" He exclaimed coughing blood.

Gran got out of his confused state and thanked Dix on his mind, after all, he had witnessed what his ability could do to people.

He got closer to Dix and helped him up, putting Dix's arm over his shoulder.

"Great, now… get me closer to this bastard" Dix said.

Walking over to the unconscious Calvin, Dix suddenly kicked him in the face.

"Motherfucker!" he shouted in anger.

As he was about to kick him again, he saw the Red-edged Gram.

'That Barca! you were so useless that you didn't even do your work right!' Dix thought grabbing the sword.

Suddenly images of the Knossos started appearing on his head and something whispered to him.

'Finish it'

'Continue the work'

'Shut up' he told the voices as a red "D" formed in his right eye.

"Let's go back to the base" Dix said walking to the forest.

"Should we kill him?" Gran asked pointing at Calvin.

"No… chain him, I'll make him worth the trouble" Dix denied as a sadistic smile appeared on his face.

As the members of the Ikelos Familia left the place a tiny Almiraj Xenos came out of its hiding spot holding a small yellow stone in its hand.

"They took him…" The bunny Xenos said to the stone.

"Try to follow them we need to know his exact location; I will tell the others" Fels said making the stone light up in every word.

"Got it!" The Almiraj answered and followed the Ikelos Familia into the forest.

Calvin suddenly opened his eyes not feeling his body.

He tried to move but suddenly his vision darted through the dark space, swimming through solid matter as if it was nothing.

'Oh…I remember this' Calvin thought knowing exactly where he was, he already wanted to close his eyes and cover his ears for what's to come.

'Trapping me in a nightmare? What an interesting spell' he wondered as the scene in front of him reached the worst part.

The creature came out of the stone walls and went straight to an unaware Kala that was walking through the extremely dark caves.

"Huh?" That is all she could say before a mouth full of teeth engulfed her killing her in an instant.

'Here it comes…' he thought trying everything he could to close his eyes.

Suddenly his vision was filled with different scenes of Kala being killed by the Brain eater, every time in a different way.

Some were painless while others seemed almost torturous, he could hear bones cracking, muscles tearing, tendons snapping, and the screams… to hear the usually calm Kala scream like that was… horrifying to say the least.

But the worst part of all was the taste, consuming Kala tasted so good… it was like the best food he ever had.

And the immense hunger of the beast only augmented this flavor.

'Ah… so good…' he thought, feeling the same as the Brain eater.

'No! stop messing with me!'

'But it tastes so good…' a voice in his head spoke.

'Stop! you are already dead… I killed you, this is just a nightmare, that'll wake from in just a second' he said to the beast.

'Are you sure…?' as more alternate futures filled Calvin's vision.

'I'm sure.' he firmly answered as everything became darker and darker.

The whole scene then dissolved into the ground leaving only Calvin in a black void, but the feeling of endless hunger still invaded him.

'What is this?' he questioned hugging his stomach.

Suddenly, far in the distance, something shone grabbing his attention.

He started walking towards it as the pain got stronger, and the floor dissolved into a black liquid.

On every step, the hunger and the pain just got stronger as eyes and monstrous mouths started appearing on the black liquid looking at him as walked past them.

Calvin could not care about the trippy things happening around him, the pain was just too much to concentrate on anything else other than the light in front of him.

Suddenly Calvin fell to the ground as he felt his throat and stomach burning inside.

"Blegh… *Splash*"blood tainted the black liquid.

"F-fuck" He cursed wiping his mouth and slowly getting up.

When he got up a tentacle shot out of the black liquid grabbing his ankle.

"Motherfucker, let me go!" he exclaimed forcing his leg to move.

As he got closer to the light more tentacles, and claw-like hands grabbed him trying to weigh him down.

"Ah… just… a little bit… more…" He panted using all his strength to take a step forward.

Finally being able to see what was producing the light, it was some sort of doorframe that led into a white space.

He kept going until he was barely a meter away from the frame when suddenly the hands and tentacles started pulling back.

"No you won't!" he shouted trying to get a grip on the floor but the black liquid made him slide.

"Let go!" he exclaimed getting his arms free and grabbing the frame pulling himself through it making the hands and tentacles get stuck in the other side as if they couldn't pass through the frame.

"Haaaa…~" he sighed looking back at the frame, but it was different, from this side it seemed like a mirror leading to a black space.

'huh? This place…' he knew this place but he could only reach it after days of continuous meditation.

The mirror then changed into an image of a younger Calvin, he was on his knees and clutching his head while various futures of Kala's death were around him.

"What is this? my bad memory now?" he asked the mirror, after all, every time it activated it only showed sad or bad memories that weren't his.

As a response, the image disappeared and it turned into the black space from before that showed a dim reflection.

Seeing himself on the reflection Calvin could see that it wasn't him at all.

The refection had black hair with blue tips and dark blue eyes that seemed almost black.

"…" at a loss of words, he could only see 'his' reflection, trying to figure out the meaning behind it.

"It's trying to tell you to stay in control" A voice said from behind him.

"Who?!" he turned around quickly looking for the emitter of the voice, after all, there should be no one in this place.

'no one except…' he thought as Kala appeared before him.

"Me?" she said gracefully making him smile.

"Kala!" he happily exclaimed hugging her strongly.

Seeing him hugging her so hard, she felt a bit bad for him, having to live those horrible memories once again.

"There, there, I'm alright" She comforted Calvin hugging him to her chest and caressing his head.

Suddenly Calvin lost his grip on her as if she disappeared from his arms.

"Kala?" he asked with a hint of fear in his voice, seeing the now translucent Kala.

"Don't worry, I'm just really tired…" She replied as her body became almost invisible.

"Sorry, I've been learning how the system works and that takes a lot of me" she explained making her body turn back.

"Anyway, I don't have much time, as I was saying the mirror is telling you to stay in control" She continued.

"Why though? As far as I know, I'm in full control" He asked not seeing the true meaning behind Kala's statement.

"that's not completely true" She corrected.

"What do you mean?" he inquired.

"Do you remember when the brain eater broke your system and you couldn't use it for a while?" She asked getting a nod from Calvin.

"It somehow infected your system and stayed hidden there until your race changed" she continued "And it's now trying to take over you" she said pointing at the other 'Calvin' in the mirror making 'it' smile devilishly showing its needle-like teeth.

"I see…" He acknowledged not minding the warning.

Kala looked at him with worry but said nothing.

'Coming back to torment me even in another world, I knew something wasn't right when I "killed" you back then' he cursed thinking that maybe the thing in front of him will follow him till the end of time.

His body then started to disappear, making him look at Kala with a questioning gaze.

"You are about to wake up" she explained.

As he was about to disappear completely, he suddenly spoke.

"Are we going to meet soon?" he asked as his eyes glowed pink.

"Yes, yes, very soon, when you reach level 4 or so" she said waving her hand and rolling her eyes, knowing the true intention of his words.

"But first snap out of it! You are going to get a beating when you wake up! so, you better be ready" She scolded him snapping her fingers on his face and making the pink glow on his eyes vanish.

"Oh yeah… I kind of forgot about that, this is going to hurt, isn't it?" he mumbled before disappearing.
