Chapter 36: Pneumonia

Terron’s POV

Perhaps undressing my mate in an uninsulated, outdoor shed wasn’t the best idea. She fell into our bed the moment we made it home and has been there for a few days so far.

I can hear her sniffling from the living room, tossing and turning in her uncomfortably, sickly state. I hold my breath to keep from rushing to her side every five minutes.

She needs space to heal to get over the events of the last week or two, and I don’t want to suffocate her with my presence.

Lucas meanders through the kitchen, fixing a pot of soup that will help Kinsley but will also warm us up. The nights have grown colder and as I reflect on my mate’s past, I can’t help but ache at her memories of being left in the harsh autumn elements that brings blistering cold breezes.

Ace left her outside in the rain, in the snow, and I hate that she’s gotten so sick because of our naked capades in the tool shed outside. Her system is so frail, I should have known better.
