Morning Talk

"I still wonder, did Aiyden get involved because of bad luck, or was he targeted on purpose? And that ritual…"

At that time, Aiyden's uncle also made his way to the scene. But he arrived too late.

Aiyden's father was already dead, and everything else was already over.

Some of the evidence had already been taken and cleaned up. But he caught a glimpse by accident of something that looked like a pagan ritual.

Knock… knock… the door pushed open.

"Sir Tom, the interrogation has finished."

"Alright, I will go there soon," Tom replied as he put the file back into the cabinet.

His expression quickly changed to a stern look, preparing to meet with the gang.

Another day passed by, and this time, he would spend most of the day at school.

He knew he would not be able to avoid conflict with Jeff now.

'Should I wait to see what he does? Or start first…'

Rafael wondered while looking at the passing road from the bus window. Despite having just experienced a hijacking incident, he didn't feel any fear.

It didn't take long for Rafael to reach his stop. He was still undecided at this moment. Taking the initiative would allow him to avoid many annoyances, but this would make him feel like the bully.

But waiting for Jeff to make the first move worried Rafael.

'Forget it. I will see what they're gonna do first. What's the worst they can do? Hit me? I'll just dodge.'

With this thought, Rafael decided he would just see what they would do.

He then greeted Ben and some of the security before going to his class.

As he reached the school hallway, a familiar, soothing voice reached his ears.

"Morning, Rafael."

Looking back, he saw Suiyin smiling at him. "Morning, Suiyin. You are quite early."

"Look who's talking. You say that while you came first," she said with a chuckle.

They then walked toward their class together while exchanging some small talk.

"By the way, did you watch the news? A bus was hijacked, and it's rumored that a student from our school was involved."

Cough…

"Really? I haven't heard of it," Rafael replied.

He didn't really care even if the news came out, but based on the situation, he judged it would be better if no one knew he and Aiyden were there.

After some more research, he found out Aiyden was a professional boxer who had just made his debut.

Getting involved in a street brawl could impact his life and might even get him suspended from school.

"Well, it's just a rumor. I overheard my mom talking on the phone.

I do wonder who is unlucky enough to get involved in that kind of incident on their first day."

"First day? How could you be sure? Maybe it's a second-year student or a third-year."

"No, I'm sure my mom talked about it."

"I see," Rafael said while thinking, 'She seems happy talking about her mother. Was I really just overthinking things yesterday?'

"What do you think about our homeroom teacher?"

"Mr. Draven? I feel it's better not to get on his bad side."

Suiyin let out another laugh, "That is already clear as day. I still remember how he berated one of the students in our class. Is it Jess? Jeff? I forgot."

"It's Jeff, and he is a bully. You should put some distance between you and him."

"Nice talk from someone who almost broke his leg on the first day."

"You are more talkative than I thought," Rafael said with a chuckle.

"Do you mind?" Suiyin asked, tilting her upper body forward to look at Rafael's expression.

"It's fine, I just never thought you were the type."

"We only met yesterday, of course, you don't know. I just don't like to be disturbed when I am reading a book."

"I realize you are the other full scholarship student besides me. What brought you to this school, Suiyin?"

Suiyin's face quickly turned sullen from the question, her gaze becoming complicated, "I have my reasons. I never knew you were the other student. How did you know?"

"It's not that hard. I know the other student would be in the A class."

"I see. I should spend more time observing other students then."

Rafael tilted his head in confusion. "You do know what kind of school we are attending, right?"

"Of course, it is the most elite school in this city and one of the best in the country. Why are you asking?"

"It's not just that. It's also a school for the elite. Aren't you afraid of getting bullied?"

"Bully? Nope. Maybe because I never experienced it, but I usually just kept to myself and spent time in the library.

Just blend in with the background, and you will be safe."

"Maybe that worked at your past school. But it won't work here. Both of us are the only full scholarship students. Not to mention, we are also part of the A class with a few students."

Suiyin put her finger over her chin, ruminating on what Rafael said, her lips then curled into a smile, "Thanks for the warning, but I am sure I won't have any problem. Well, worst comes to worst, you will help me, right?"

Rafael's lips twitched. "That depends on the case."

"Interesting, I am sure I am quite beautiful; usually, they will quickly reply they will protect me," Suiyin said with a chuckle.

Rafael frowned, realizing Suiyin was not as naive as he thought.

Feeling his gaze, Suiyin just smirked. They exchanged some more small talk until they reached the class.

Inside, the class was still empty. They went to their own seats. Rafael wanted to talk further, but Suiyin quickly got absorbed into her own world.

She took out another book related to Demon mythology.

Knowing she wouldn't talk further, Rafael took out his phone, wanting to check the news about the bus hijacking.

After reading many articles, he couldn't find any mention that students were involved in the incident.
