Chapter Twenty Four: The Way Home

The training had went on for the rest of the day with Ember and Penny who had now gained a little more control over her new power. The training would have continued, but it had grown far too dark and they finally relented, heading inside to find some food.

"Where is Lysette? " Penny asked, searching around the room with eyes but not finding her. " Perhaps she already went to bed? " Ember suggested as she Penny began making her way up stairs. " I should probably check, just to make sure that she is okay" Penny had a suspicion that something could be wrong and needed to, for her own nerves, make sure that everything was okay. Penny walked down the hall to Lysette's room, placing her ear against the door and listening for any signs of life. After a few moments of silence, Penny decided to open the door just barely to barely peak through the crack and check around the room.

A dark silhouette laying on the bed was identified as Lysette and Penny's nerves immediately dissipated. And as she was about to close the door, she noticed something green and shiny, shining brightly on the bed which peaked Penny's curiosity.

Opening the door enough for her to slip through, Penny creeped her way carefully into the room and reached down to grab the green glowing object and silently made her way out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Once the door was closed and she was safe enough to check her hand, Penny looked down and saw her necklace! The same necklace that had disappeared and she had put she an immense amount of looking for. The same necklace that Lysette had not seemed all that interested in funding or upset with Penny for losing.

Confusing began consuming the young witches mind as she made her way downstairs, glancing back to Lysette's room.

" Is everything okay? " Ember asked, noticing very quickly the expression of shock across Penny's face.

" Its nothing" Penny disregarded the concern raised by Ember. At that moment, Penny knew she couldn't say anything to Ember. She wouldn't even know what to say. Especially to Lysette who at the moment, Penny felt like her guardian betrayed her. " Well something is obviously wrong but if you don't want to talk about it, then I will respect it" Ember had felt it best to not pressure Penny currently. When she ready, Penny would open up to her though it would just take time.

" Is Lysette okay at least? " Ember asked, worried that the shock was due to something with her. " She is fine.." Penny answered, as turned around and began walking back up the stairs. " Goodnight" Penny said as she slowly made her way up to her room. " Goodnight.." Ember sighed as she turned her attention back to the food she had prepared.

" Ya know, as much as I understand these two, there is so much that I just don't get" Ember sighed as she began stuffing food into her mouth, savoring the sweet taste of what appeared to be, strips of meat, with a thick coat of sugar, crusted on it.

Penny had stumbled into her room and closed the door, not bothering to turn on the light and walked to her bed before falling down on it, face first into her pillows. The questions swirling around in her head were causing her anxiety to sky rocket. There was no real reason that Penny could see as to why Lysette, her guardian, her mentor, her closest friend in this world, would betray her and steal from her.

After pulling her head away from the pillows, Penny pulled the necklace up to her face and stared at it, almost wishing she could communicate with it to hear the secrets that had been hidden from her by Lysette. She continued to gaze into the light, green void contained within an orb made of some form of glass. It had never quite glowed like this before, but Penny could not be bothered to conclude a reason as to the reason for this. Instead, she continued trying to understand the reasoning. Had she done something wrong to justify having it stolen? " No..no there is a reason for this" Penny answered her own question, noticing that the necklace began glowing even brighter after the answer.

" Maybe, you can communicate with me..." Penny closed her hand around the necklace and began picturing a way for her to see within the glow, trying to infuse her energy deep within it so that she could learn the truth.

It was at this moment, that a bright green light, flashed within the room and Penny was no longer in her bed. Instead, Penny found herself on the hard ground of a land she had never been too before. The sky was green and pink, and shifted beneath her feet.

" Oh my god.." Penny exclaimed as she took in the beautiful view before her very eyes. " I'm home"
