Chapter Seventy Nine: The Undecided Confession

Word has finally reached the cottage that marriage between Aurora and The Vampire Prince had finally taken place. The Reaction if the Kingdom seemed mixed but most were hopeful that this would set up for Aurora to take charge someday. Many believed that she would make a far better fit to rule the Kingdom based on her beliefs with how the Kingdom should be ran.

And though they had their reservations with any treaty with the Vampires, if Aurora was willing to go along with it, then they would trust in her judgement.

The news came as no surprise to the trio, and this meant that they were getting ever closer to the birth of Kara. And that means that they would need to observe from afar because by this point Gabriel would be close to being born as well. And he would then be tasked with watching over Kara after an attack.

" The attack.." Raven said to the group. " There may be many lives lost..should we not intervene?

" We can't, because this prompts Kara to be sent back to Earth. And this would make things a little easier for us because I have allies back home who could assist in looking after her" Penny assured.

" Well then we still need to split up and to ensure that both Gabriel and Kara are fine" Ember points out.

" So does that mean we should split up...? " Raven did not like the sound of this idea. They would be far stronger together than apart.

" If we have to do that, then we have to do that. At the end of the day, this is what we came to do and we cannot stop her even if it's going to take something I'm not sure any of us approve of.." Penny answered much to the shock of Ember and Raven.

" I don't like this idea.." Raven made her distaste for the idea well known though they had very options.

" Well what else can we do? They both need to make it for right now. The Underworld needs them" Penny added.

" And on top of that, it won't be long before they are sent to Earth, and then we can reunite and await their return. It should only be a little while" Penny tried to assure her mother even though she knew the distance would be putting them at risk. " I vote that we split for the time being" Penny crossed her arms, making her stance known.

Ember seconded the vote and despite being out voted, Raven voted against the idea. She knew all too well how important this was but at the risk of being away from her daughter, and something happening to Penny, she couldn't risk that.

" I will agree to it but only if me and Penny go together..that way I can make sure she stays safe" Ravens demmand was unexpected but also reasonable at the same time.

" I think that would be best. And I would recommend that you both take the Lycan Kingdom considering you'd have to constantly avoid being discovered by Aurora. I will take the Witch Kingdom and moniter Kara, and I assure you both that I will be inconspicuous" Embers eyes were certain and both Raven and Penny agreed to this under that assurance.

" Well when should we depart? " Penny questioned.

" As soon as possible. We dont know for sure when they will be conceived so we will have to be as prepared as possible and set in our places so that we don't have to do so later" Ember brought up a good point and so the three began making plans to depart to the respective Kingdoms.

The three had decided to stay in contact as much as possible through secret meetings every few weeks so that they could update one another on the progress.

" News should travel between the Kingdoms pretty fast though their may be things that don't travel and that is part of the reason we are there. We need to be as informed as possible and we need to get as close as we possibly can so that we can learn what we need to" Raven ran through the list of tasks for the mission, taking complete charge of the mission.

" And no matter what, we have to make sure that we protect the children. They have to make it" Raven adds.

" They will make it, no matter what stands in the way " Ember answers in the usual firm tone.

" And we know that the attack is going to happen soon Ember..which means that you can't get involved unless absolutely nessacary. People may get hurt, but this is a part of history that has to happen and I know that you are aware of this. But, we also have to make sure that the danger is present, enough for them to send Kara off.." Raven explains.

" I assure you that I am aware. And I will not do anything unless it is directly threatening the events that have to take place"

Ember pauses and turns to Penny " May I have a moment of your time" She smiles slightly, something Penny had also not seen in quite some time and Penny agrees to request with a gentle nod.

After stepping into another room of the cottage, Ember looks deep into the eyes of Penny, without saying a single word. It was as though she was trying to peer into the soul of Penny and yet trying to say a thousand words at once.

" What.." Penny questioned, not quite being sure what to make of Embers strange silence.

" I need to know if something is real.." Ember breaks no eye contact with Penny, and continues gazing into her eyes.

" And what would that be? " Penny asked.

" I want to know, if what you feel for me is real.." Embers questioned completely shattered Penny's disposition. She had not expected it nor for it to be so blatant.

"I..dont..I" She was caught completely off guard, and was trying her best to recover.

" I want to know. If the love that you have for me..is real? " Ember rephrased, awaiting the response.

" I..I am not going to answer that question" Penny finally managed to say.

" I am not going to answer, because if I am going to lose you..then I am not going to lose you over emotion. I promised that I would never speak on it again, and I am keeping that promise to you" Penny tried to stand firm but she was crumbling from the inside out.

" Then you are willing to hide what you feel for the sake of me? " Ember asked.

" What do you want from me. Because one minute, my feelings are acid upon your skin and now..you want to know something you already know the answer too.." Penny glances down at her feet, no longer being able to manage the intense gaze from Ember.

" I want to know because deep down, I care for you too. And that can be a weakness. We both know that. And I am telling you this because no matter what happens, I want you to know that I care too..I really do. And I always will" Embers words again, were like a complete shattering the foundation that Penny had rebuilt upon the wreckage of her own confession.

" Are you saying what I think you are saying..." Penny asked, now timid and yet containing eagerness with the possibility of more pain.

" I am saying that I don't want to lose you. And I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn't happen..even if that means I have to walk away Someday.." Ember closed her eyes for a moment and then turned away from Penny.

" Because we can't become them.." Penny whispered under her breath.
