Train Ride Home

We took a long train ride to the city where Gene's family lived. Around an hour into the ride, Gene was looking very serious, probably thinking about them.

"Everything is going to be alright," I assured him.

He snapped out of his thoughts.

"Thanks, Beatrice. I hope the society hasn't done anything to them yet. I don't want to be too late."

"I hope so too."

My memories of Gene's family was a bit vague. I only ever saw them once when we had to drop by his house to pick up a book he accidentally left at home. They seemed like a normal family.

"Will things be alright with that wolf mask guy running around having mind control powers?" I asked.

"I don't know, but I think I can trust him despite his past."

"His past?"
