Chapter 55

Nathaniel didn't say much during our ride to Aqua Chrysalis. He simply kept that satisfied look on his face. He probably got the information he needed.

"Goodnight, Miss Beatrice. Oh, please keep this a secret from Momo and Cyrus, ok?" He winked before rolling the car windows shut.

I quietly snuck upstairs and into the living room. Gene's door was half-open. He was already in bed sleeping soundly.

I hope he didn't notice that I was away.

The next day was the start of the weekend, so I spent most of the morning in bed. When I finally got out of bed, I found Gene in front of a laptop on the dining table. He looked rather stressed, like something was deeply bothering him.

"Morning! Woah. You don't look so good. Are you ok?" I began to get worried.

"I just had a bad nightmare." Gene rubbed his eye. "Don't worry about it."

From the corner of my eye, I noticed the pictures on the computer screen. They were from the game where we first met.
