<Jace's Point of View>
It was the first time I walked through the school hallways like an idiot, just for the sake of following Joseph's plan. Willing to move from my old school here, brought a bit of annoyance for not being able to take Joseph's decision for granted, but I did it on behalf of my grandfather.
It's only been a day since I came here, and I already received all the amazed looks of various students when I walked past them. Some—mostly male students showered me with disapproving looks. Fuck them. I paid no heed to their response. What I do now is not because I genuinely want to study at this school.
Elisabeth and Cleopatra. From various sources I know, Elisabeth is a wild girl, a troublemaker, often gets punished, and will not turn her head if someone calls her 'Elisabeth'. She prefers to be called Elsie. Unlike her twin sister, Cleo. A girl who is graceful, smart, obedient, and has a feeling as soft as cotton. Until now, I have not met them in any class. Maybe next time, I can see and meet the youngest daughter of Thomas Cavern, the one who killed my grandfather.
A while ago, I saw someone who caught my eye in the hallway. She stood still with her friends, giving off a strange look that shone like a stage lamp. The corners of my lips trembled slightly, recognizing the girl with long, messy dark brown hair and blue eyes. Elsie.
Up close, she didn't pull the slightest bit. Her appearance was too delinquent, untidy, and skinny. Her gaze was as piercing as the tip of a dagger when I stepped my foot past her. Two sharp eyes, just like her father. The blood of petty people, murderers, and hypocrites.
I didn't spend much time at this school other than finding out who Thomas Cavern's youngest daughter was. The Caverns are a family of superpowers who were hailed from England, moving to America and getting rid of their toughest competitors in the business world. What disgusts me the most, Thomas Cavern, the heir to his family's big company, eliminated one of his big competitors in a dirty way. A murder. And my grandfather was one of the victims. He is crueler and more dehumanized than a mafia kingpin. His family acquaintances can reach all over the world, from the mafia and gangsters to the yakuza.
The slight difference between the Cavern family and mine is very thin. More similarities. Like, my family is businessmen with extensive access around the world. And the more dominating difference is only in the way we get rid of competitors in the business world. The Caverns were more cunning, slicker, smarter, and worked so neatly that no one else could smell them. This infuriated Joseph, as one of the heirs to my grandfather's large company, and the eldest of his cousins. So that made him take the same path, as Thomas Cavern did to our grandfather.
Before entering the school parking lot, I saw a girl struggling to carry books in her hands until they fell on the asphalt. Wait, I think I know this girl. Ah yes, she's Elsie's twin sister, Cleo. While licking my lips, I slowly walked over to her, then helped pick up the books she had dropped earlier. Cleo's head lifted to notice my hand holding one of her books. Her irises were blue, the same color as Elsie's. Truly, this girl was very different from her twin sister. She is more feminine, has a sweet smile, neat hair, and shady eyes.
"Thank you," she said.
I replied with a small smile. Holding her books again, Cleo walked gracefully away from me. Too bad, such a sweet and beautiful girl had to be destined to be Thomas Cavern's youngest daughter. If only she wasn't related to Thomas, I would ask her out.
