Chapter 9

Years ago when Mikka Mendez (Aleido's grandfather ) was still alive, he instructed his son, Caesar Mendez (Aleido's father) to keep the girls closer in his absence, to tighten their bond. So, Caesar would always sneak Surina into his son's house because he knew that if Aleido came to know about him mingling with Greg or had anything to do with Greg and his family at all, Aleido will not contain it. He will send him to an old age home. With this, the girls became best friends somehow.

Greg Shikongo died a few years back leaving behind his son Rain Shikongo who changed his identity to Brain Bacardi to continue the war between his father and the Mendez family. After Greg died, Rain moved to South Africa with his mother, Rosa, (Greg's wife) leaving Surina with K. Surina was only three years old by then. Rain waited until the girls were big enough to make his move, by coming back into the country and begin by taking away the only source of reunion they had, which was the two books. He wanted to get the books before they could unveil Surina's identity.

Greg sent Aleido away to DRC because he knew that he would never come back until his daughter was found. Rain was however trying to get hold of the books with the secret. If the secret didn't reach Aleido, then he wouldn't come back to Namibia. This gives them more time to exact vengeance against the Mendez family.

Then there's Thug, a loner who chose to live a simple life, far from his siblings, especially Greg. When Mikka gave Thug the book, Greg tried to seize it from him creating a rift between them. Thug always had a soft spot for Surina, 'cause he thought she was treated unfairly. O'Neal Ramsey was somehow different from Thug. He's a young good looking, chubby, but very lazy man, who left home because of the tension in the house. He wanted to prove to his sister and Aleido that he was indeed useful. Sonia was just a baby when he left.
