The Original Heretic (1st of the series)

Reborn as the younger twin of Freya, he was by far the most dangerous original sibling out there. In his previous life he was an avid fan of the vampire diaries and the originals spin offs.

'Keep calm'. That was the only thought that passed through my mind as my body was failing me. Darren was my name, an average every day guy that had found myself shot by a home invader that was robbing me.

"What a disappointing life." As those words left my lips, a dying gasp followed. Darkness pervaded my sight and the last sound I heard was laughter. It permeated my senses. The sound was from my favorite tv series, The Originals. I'd been watching it when I was killed.

The darkness was followed by an odd painful squeezing sensation all over my being. Suddenly I heard someone yelling. "One more push, there's another one here."

After a final squeeze, I felt my dark world change. Light and sound overwhelmed my senses as I let out a yell from the disorientation. When everything calmed down I'd found myself staring at a face I'd only seen on tv. It was Sebastian Roché or better known as Mikael. I would come to know him as father from now on.

My tinny hands reaches for his face to feel if it was real or a hallucination brought on by blood loss. He smiled and brought his hand up to play with mine. When our hands touched, my eyes went wide and I went silent. I could feel his warm skin and I knew this was real. My new father chuckled. "He'll be a fine warrior and my greatest heir, his name shall be Alexander."

A woman came into view that I hadn't seen much of. Ayana was her name, I think. "He's the second born, your first born is this young girl here."

She held up a small baby just within my view. Mikael smiled. "She will be Freya, a goddess in her own right."

Ayana smiled and I heard a weak voice speak up. "Let me hold them."

Mikael and Ayana looked towards it and suddenly I felt myself being moved and handed off. The face of one I'd come to both hate and like in the series was now above me. Esther or mother to be more precise, I let out a cry and felt an odd pulling sensation when she touched me.

Power, or more specifically magic was being funneled into me where she touched me. Esther went pale and Ayana shouted. "Quickly take the child away from her, it's consuming her magic and life force."

Everything went dark for me, my went blank as I passed out and my body must've been moved because when I woke up again, I was on a wool blanket in a hut. For the next few months I was carefully cared for by my new parents. Ayana would visit daily and Esther would have Mikael take care of me when I was to be moved.

On eleventh month after my birth, I heard noises and screaming. When it all settled down, father came in with a new baby. "Your going to be an older brother now, you need to grow up strong to protect your siblings."

I nodded and slowly stood up on my small shaky legs and slowly walked over to him. "Da."

He smiled. "Your strength is already showing, meet your brother Finn. Your mother named him."

I looked at the babe and wondered how long it would take till he became the moma's boy that would believe her every word. Mikael smiled one last time before frowning and saying. "From now on, you'll be seeing less of me. I've battles to wage and you need to learn control. Ayana has volunteered to teach and raise you since your mother will not touch you. Remember, no matter what happens, you are still my son."

He set took Finn away and Ayana came in not long after. "Come child, from now on you'll be raised by me."

I walked the best my legs could carry me and followed her to her hut. It smelled like dirt and flowers with something else mixed in. Four years passed without incident, at first she'd had her husband change me and teach to change myself. Every now and then I'd get to see my old family and my twin, Freya and I were inseparable when we found each other.

I felt this link that let me know where she was when she was near or in pain. Two years ago she fell down while walking and scraped her knee, I had ended up feeling her pain. After that, Ayana made a bracelet blocked the link.

We still found each other and played together, but from then on we couldn't feel each other's pain. On our fifth birthday, father had left to go to battle. Our aunt Dahlia showed up to take Freya away.

"Please sister, don't do this." Esther begged. Dahlia refused to even listen, when she grabbed Freya, I lunged and grabbed her as well, my siphoning power in full force. Unfortunately for me, my body was used to it as I'd been avoiding using it for fear of Ayana never wanting to teach me again.

Dahlia shoved me aside. "What an evil creature you are, to consume the magic of others. Unfortunately your not the first born or I'd take you as well, be glad I have no use for a defect like you."

Esther cried and begged while I picked myself up off the ground. Finn stood behind her crying. I got angry and lashed out at Dahlia with the magic I was able to siphon off from her. Just as the wave of power was to hit her I passed out and she teleported away.

When I woke up again, I was in my bed with Ayana by my side. "Child, it's time I taught you to control your gifts before you hurt yourself or someone else."

I couldn't stop the smile on my face from appearing. As I smiled, Mikael was across the village crying. Years passed by in a blur as I was taught herbal remedy's and healing spells. Eventually, we moved to the new world and settled down, hoping for a new life away from Dahlia and her darkness.

As the seasons changed, I grew older and stronger, my abilities making themselves known. In my twentieth year my final brother, Henrik was born. My ties to my family were strained but there, I was trained by father from my tenth season on to be a warrior and a survivor.

He was colder than before, his lessons were brutal and unforgiving. My body filled out at a fast pace while my mind was filled with battle strategy and magic lessons. Everything from a simple flame to healing and killing spells were taught to me in secession.

Where Ayana left off because of her morals, Esther picked up because of her need to prepare and protect us. Out of all my siblings, Kol was the one I was closest to. I taught him what I could, and in return, he kept me up to date on our siblings and their personalities.

I was mostly an outsider because of my abilities, but that didn't stop the sibling rivalry's from reaching my doorstep. I moved out of Ayana's hut long ago for a hut of my own next to my old family. Ayana had decided she'd taught me all she could and gave me a copy of her grimoire as a graduation present.

My life had become simple after that, I trained and fought in battles with Mikael at my side, and came home to a lovely woman I'd been courting behind my little brothers backs. Tatia, my current lover and companion. She refused to marry even when I proposed to her for fear of my reputation for being unnatural effecting her.

I could understand that a little, I mean, I do have a reputation for being a male witch that even my mother fears to touch. The up side was Tatia never slept around on me. My brothers still tried to court her, even after she went away for awhile. I knew she'd become pregnant with my child when she left.

She was already showing signs of it. I put a powerful enchantment that blocked all magic from reaching the babe with my blood as foundation on her. When she gave birth, the enchantment would pass to the babe and so on, stopping Dahlia from retrieving her prize. The magic it was born to was absorbed into the doppelgänger bloodline and prevented any gifts from passing on.

From then on, I through myself into battle after battle. Swords and spears covered my future so much so that I'd gained a reputation for being a berserker and battle lover. Mikael had even shown a few rare smiles, he'd distanced himself from the battlefield when Henrik was born to raise him in peace.

When Tatia returned without the baby, I knew she'd given it away to be raised elsewhere. Even though I'd known it was for the best, I felt like I was hollow inside. Like a piece of what made me, me was missing. I covered it with a fake smile and tried to move on.

We became estranged from then on. Our nights were spent more apart than together. One day in my twenty five season, I found her and Elijah together. I hid myself and left quietly. They were none the wiser. After that, I built her a hut away on the opposite side of the village and left her to her dalliances.

I couldn't bring myself to touch her and she couldn't look me in the eye, understanding that I knew of her time in his arms. I spent the next five summers teaching Kol about magic and herbalism while sparing with Niklaus and Elijah.

I intervened a few times when Mikael had gotten drunk and tried to beat Nik. But I couldn't always be there so they still ended up angry at each other. On my twenty ninth summer, Nik had finally done it, he left with Henrik to watch the wolves shift. I'd spent the day with Rebekah. "I know I don't visit you often sister, but I do care for you."

She smiled. "Then why do you stay away?"

I looked down. "You know I had a twin sister, and the last time I saw her, she was taken from me. I've spent my entire life growing stronger to make sure it never happens again."

Rebekah sighed. "We all die eventually, but it's up to the gods to let us know when. No matter how powerful you are, you can't stop a god."

I shook my head. "Perhaps, perhaps not a god, but maybe a goddess if I'm determined enough."

I gave her a hug and left her a hand carved necklace that I'd made of white oak and vervain. The next eve Nik came screaming into camp with Henrik's dead body in his arms. "Father! Father, the wolves killed him, we went to watch the shift from a distance and they chased us down and killed him."

Mikael punched Niklaus and took Henrik, crying all the while. I sighed and brought out a white blanket. As I wrapped him in it, I told father. " Watch after mother, I'll build the pyre. After we send him off, we'll deal with the wolf situation."

He looked as hollow as I felt. Nodding he carried Henrik in his arms to our mothers tent. I stood up, looking at my siblings. "Gather the wood and kindle we must send him off properly or he'll never sit among the gods."

As if my words were a lightning strike, everyone got to work. I gathered several felled tree logs and built a base for the funeral, Nik, Finn, and Elijah collected more logs and Bekah grabbed all the kindling she could find. Two hours later the pyre was made and our mother and father carried my youngest brother out. I watched on as the set him a lite.

As he burned I began. "Rest little brother, let your soul pass over unto Valhalla, drink and sup at the table of the gods and war beside our ancestors. Take heart in knowing you shall be avenged."

Mikael didn't have the heart to speak so I led the sermon as the eldest and strongest of our family. My mother as a women, wasn't allowed to lead it, so it was my duty.

By the end, I turned to my now stoic father. "It's time."

He looked to our mother then told me. "Set the table, we'll feast to his memory and in the morn we'll bring the dogs to heel."

I looked as cold as ice, realizing what tonight would bring. Nodding I sighed. "As you wish father."

I got to work preparing a feast with Bekah's help. After we supped our fill, I turned to father and asked. "Is mother going to join us?"

I was unclear how he planned to go about it, so when his answer was to stab me in the heart with his already drawn sword, I was a bit shocked. I grabbed the blade and ripped it out, I fell down, choking on my own blood. "Yours had to be instantaneous because of your unique gifts, I'm sorry I couldn't risk you fighting back, we both know I'd have lost. Take heart, you won't be alone."

I blacked out and woke up with a pounding headache. My senses were in overdrive, it was like being reborn all over again. When I was coherent enough to stand up, my mother appeared beside me, shoving a bowl in my hands. "Drink this quickly, don't use your abilities."

I drank and choked, this time I can only assume it was Tatia's blood I was choking on. When I regained my sense of self, I asked. "What have you done to us?"

Mikael answered. "I asked your mother to delve deeply into the black arts to make us strong enough to never again fear the beasts that are our neighbors."

This is when I acted, if for no other reason than to avoid the stupid vow of always and forever. I slugged Mikael. "You stupid fool, even if she could do such a thing, you should've asked us first. Family or not, you've cursed us."

I used my new abilities to run, it came in small bursts at first. I ran to Ayana's hut. When she answered, I went inside and told her what they'd done. For the rest of the night, we put our heads together and came up with the daylight rings. After I jotted the spell down in my grimoire, I said my goodbyes and promised to look after her family line.

I left towards my mothers tent. While she and father were away dealing with my family, I copied all her spells into my book. Leaving in the night, I set off. I left a note for my siblings telling them to run and not to look for me.

I spent the next five hundred years dodging them and learning spells from all cultures. I helped shamans and witches with their individual problems and taught a few tricks here and there. Eventually, when I could no longer find new spells or original ones I couldn't already make myself, I turned to the battlefields.

I fought in war after war. Killing for this king or that. Building my own coffers in a secret cavern by our old settlement. I forged a vault of iron and silver deep underground. When I got word that Niklaus and Elijah were looking for the moonstone, I left to Europe. Hiding my figure in a black cloak.

Every now and then, I had checked in on Ayana's descendants and my own. As the original heretic, I was an abomination of nature and was forced to use talisman's and runic wards to fuel my power. That meant I was in constant contact with other witches and shamans. What would eventually be known as the Bennett family line was a close ally of mine, so it paid to keep contact every now and then.

I ended up saving quite a few of their family members from Saxon raids and christian persecution. I had a couple trists now and then with the more appealing ones. They used the chance to strengthen their magic by drawing from my special constitution.

As of now, I loaded up on magical items to drain if there's an emergency. Even after all this time my features were that of a young Chris Hemsworth. Though I tried to cover my looks with the cloak and a mask. So I looked more like Dr. Doom.

When I made it to Eastern Europe, I'd arrived just in time to hear of a hunt for Katerina Petrova. I used up a talisman to scry for her and ran as fast as I could. I'd arrived at the Forest of Dean where Elijah was leading the search. I cloaked myself and scryied for her again.

When I found her, I ran faster than she could see and knocked her out. I took her to a far off village near Bulgaria and ordered a room at the local in. After depositing her on the bed, I searched her and found the moonstone. As she roused herself, I chuckled. "Your certainly resourceful for a descendent of mine."

She baked up into the corner. "Who are you? What do you want with me? Why did you kidnap me? Do you work for those monsters?"

I sighed. "One question at a time."

I take off my mask and continue." My name is Eric and no I don't work for them."

She seemed to calm down. "Then why did you wish me away?"

I sighed. "Like I said, you're a descendant of mine. As a matter of fact, you look exactly like your many times great-grandmother. She to had a trist with those fools and lived to regret it up till they killed her."

Katerina frowned. "Why didn't you save her as well?"

I sighed. "Child, I'm the older brother of those two idiots. I'm the eldest original vampire. The only vampire older than me is our father. So when she decided to lay in their arms, I decided she was no longer worthy of my love."

Her frown deepened so I continued. "Not for the reasons you think, you see, our family had magic in our blood, and I turned out a little to gifted. My sight saw more than just the here and now. I get glimpses of the future for lack of a better understanding. Not laid in stone mind you, only the possibilities of what could happen if I take certain actions. So when she gave away our child behind my back and decided to lay with my brothers instead of me, I saw what was to come."

She sat up now. "And what's that?"

I rubbed my beard. "You and our many descendants. I saw your daughter being taken from you and every generation the same. I saw no end in sight until many years from now, when the cycle breaks. Your daughter will grow up to look for you, and like Tatia, your ancestor, she'll give away her child. Though she does become a vampire to look for you. Her names Nadia by the way."

There was a knocking sound downstairs and Katerina tensed. I smiled. "Relax, even if they found you here, they could do nothing to you. I'm here remember? I'll look after you as much as you want. They wouldna cross me to kill you, especially since now you're a vampire yourself."

I sighed. "Get some rest, I'll compel a maid to feed you in the morn."

I sat down on the opposite bed and meditated. Something I'd picked up in China a couple centuries ago. I listened to her breathing calm down and resumed my meditation. In the early hours I stood up and stretched, before walked towards her and giving her a tap. "Wake child, I have much to teach you and we might as well start with the basics."

I tossed her a daylight ring saying. "Wear it on your toe or get something pierced. Never wear it where it can be seen."

She slid it on her middle toe and put her shoe back on. "So, what's first?"

I smiled. "Breakfast."

I called up a maid into the room. "Stay still. Don't make a sound."

As the made did her impression of a statue I turned to Katerina. "Your first lesson, snatch, eat erase. So long as you feed and erase their memory, no one will know anything happened. Now, to use compulsion all you need is eye contact and an instruction they can understand. You try it."

She stood up and looked the maid in the eye. "Raise your wrist for me."

The maid raised her hands up in the air. I snorted. "Try to be specific and avoid general terms or you get this."

Katerina tried several more instructions before she bit the maids neck. I smiled. "Now, when you feed, only take enough to stave off the hunger. Any more and they die any less and it was pointless. You can always find more people, avoid pointless slaughter and save it for your enemies."

She looked at me and I nodded. As soon as she stopped feeding I instructed her further. "Give her a drop of your blood to heal the wound and leave no evidence behind."

She did so and we left the in after erasing a few minds. On the road in a stage coach, we made our way to her families manner. When we arrived, it was in smoldering ruins. I sighed as she cried for her dead family. When she was done, I carried her to the stage coach and we left towards an estate I'd bought in England. It took us several days to reach in which I taught her everything I knew about being a vampire.

When we arrived near the palace, she gasped and I chuckled. "This is just the start, because of our unique family history, I've spent hundreds of years acquiring wealth and have had no one to spend it on or inherit it. Though I expect you to continue to do the same, I don't expect you to have a hard time about it."

We arrived at a large court yard and I told her. "All of this is now yours, I've already informed the staff and servants that you're the new owner and your money and wealth are tucked away in a vault under the villa. Now, what I expect from you is simple, there's a library with copies of every supernatural book of significance I could find that is real. Study and commit it to memory, there's also several expensive items you may find useful in there. All I ask is that you survive our chaotic family. While they will still hunt you, for now anyway, your safe. Use this time to study them and keep yourself alive."

She smiled a little then looked worried. "Why don't you stop them from hunting me?"

I sighed. "I prefer to stay in the shadows, now isn't the time for them to know of my whereabouts. That's why I'm sorry for this next part."

She tended up and I looked in her eyes saying. "Forget you've ever met me, forget everything about me. Only remember you were taught these lessons by a kind stranger before you killed them. Use these resources to survive and thrive. Now sleep."

She passed out and I carried her inside. I sighed one last time as she slept in her bed. "I'm sorry Katerina, now isn't the time for me to come into the light."

I left at great speeds towards my ship on the coast. It was time to head home. I'd left the moonstone with her, knowing I'd see it again eventually and boarded my ship with a heavy heart.

I hummed a tune to pass the time. A month later I was back on solid ground and home at last. I passed the Indian village that had moved into the area last winter and waved at the chief before disappearing into my land.

Deep within the bowels of the earth I found myself continuing to work on a ritual spell that would help me funnel the energy from an outer source into talismans after purifying the energy and getting rid of all outside influences.

My once small grimoire had been altered beyond anything currently made, the closest it could possibly resemble now is the book of shadows from charmed, though with less pages. It was compressed and self updating to be linked to several witches and shamans books across the world. It only had as many pages as needed per spell at one time now.

All other information it contained was locked in the gems on its cover. All you had to do was think of the spell you needed or a reference to what you wanted done and it would grow or shrink in pages to accommodate your needs. I had it blood locked to me to avoid left as well. If anyone tried to steal it or look inside it would curse them with a acid blood spell that could kill almost anything. The longer you had it or had taken it, the worse the spell got until you became a puddle of goo and it teleported back to me.

I spent the next few centuries making spells and honing my body and mind to the limit. When the colonists came, I sent the natives that had grown on my land a warning to leave west to avoid the sickness and plagued that came with their disrupted environment. The current chief was descended from my old acquaintance the previous chief and knew I was to be trusted.

He took my words to heart and left with his people as fast as he could, warning all those who would listen that the foreigners brought diseases.

Very few listened and I knew it wouldn't make a difference in the end. The settlers came in and claimed the area as theirs in their arrogance. That night, I had a feast of my own.

By morning the settlement was cleared out. It would become another Roanoke. The bodies were buried in a deep while I'd used for a water well. When the next group of settlers came, I disappeared into my own cavern and covered it with a few boulders. Over the next century, I fed on the local population and made sure never to kill when unnecessary.

I even bought the land my cavern was on and built a manor. I became apart of society again. My nearest neighbor was the Salvatore family. They owned a plantation and a few slaves for themselves. I shook my head and bought a few for myself before freeing them and giving them the option to stay on as payed staff.

Basically, they took care of the house and I paid them in gold and gems to keep quiet about my activities. When the war came I joined the colonists to fight the British invaders and gorged myself on the fools.

I sacked ships and killed to my hearts content but I never turned anyone. I avoided siring any vampires in my very long life not because I cared about a balance or crap like that but because I'd never ran into anyone I wanted to join my line. Sure there were a few friends over the years but I was never close to anyone enough to offer them eternity.

After the war, I set to helping slaves escape their masters in the south. After eighty years of helping slave escape, the revolutionary war was about to begin.

I returned home to find the manor in working order and the staff old or replaced. After introducing myself as my own grandson, I went to greet my neighbors, the Salvatores. When I arrived, Katerina was in the parlor with Pearl and Anna. I smiled. "Good morning neighbors, my names Eric Thorson. May I have the name of your enchanting selves?"

Katerina chuckled and Pearl smiled. Just as they were about to answer, Damon and Steffon came out. Damon replied. "They're none of your business friend.-"

Katerina interrupted him. "Be nice Damon, he's only greeting us."

She turned back to me. "This here is the lords of this manor, Damon and Steffon Salvatore, on my left is Pearl and her daughter Anna. As for the friend here.-"

A maid came out and brushed passed me. I noticed her expression change into a smile after a second and I smiled as well. Katerina continued. "This is Emily, my hand maid. And closest friend. As for me, I'm Katherine Pierce."

I took her hand and kissed it with a smile. "A pleasure to meet you all. I just stopped by before I shipped out for the war. I just got in town and now I have to leave, forgive my absence."

Damon's eyes narrowed as he asked. "What side of the war are you going to be on?"

I chuckled. "The north I'm afraid, in the end, I'm against slavery. Though it's not the only point of the war, it is still a point. In the end it's all about your views I guess. If you decide to join the north, look me up and I'll keep an eye out for you. If nothing else, I'll make sure you're able to come back home to your women."

He smirked a little bit. "What makes you so confident you could watch out for anyone else in this war?"

I chuckled. "It's not my first fight, I've been shot and stabbed plenty of times and I'm still here, where as all my enemies are in the ground."

Damon frowned and Stefan laughed. "We'll let you know if we join the Yankees."

I smiled and nodded. "Before I go, would you all be willing to dine at my manor this eve, I'll throw a ball and we can party my last night away."

Katherine nodded. "Where ever is your manor? We'll be there."

I chuckled. " Just west of here down old forks road. Where the Salvatore property ends mine begins for miles. My ancestor like the land so much he bought five thousand acres of it stretching from their borders towards the next county."

All of their eyes shot up at that. Pearl asked. "Surely the taxes on your lands must be immense?"

I shook my head. "Pocket change really, my family was here long before the town was founded and most of the town itself was built on it. So instead of renting our land the town took the rent off our taxes. As a matter of fact, the paper it's written and amended on is older than the Declaration of Independence."

I chuckled at their shocked looks. "If you want to know a small fact, the Salvatore family actually bought the land they owned from my family. My grandfather gave it up for a friend really."

Damon snorted, but before he could say anything, his father walked out saying. "It was the best damn deal our family ever made."

He walked up to me and shook my hand. "Giuseppe Salvatore, it's good to meet an old family friend."

I smiled. "It is indeed. Eric Thorson and I almost thought your family had forgotten about mine."

He shook his head. "We remember our friends. Damon, Stefon, his grandfather is the only reason you boys and I are alive today. He saved my grandfather from a battalion of redcoats with a pistol and a trench knife. He invaded enemy territory and slaughtered them before releasing their captives. My grandfather was among them. After they came back from the war he gave us this land for a song and a promise to never betray our neighbors. With that promise, my grandfather moved the family over from Italy to an already built manor becoming a founding family of this town."

I rubbed the back of my head and asked. "I've got to be going, I have a ball to prepare for and I have to get ready to head out tomorrow for war."

Giuseppe nodded. "We'll be there, I'll send word to the town council to invite them for you."

I nodded. "Much appreciated."

I left soon after, though on my way out I heard the Salvatore father say. "Strange though, he's the spitting image of his grandfather."

After giving word to the staff to prepare the ballroom and banquet hall, I set to my task of preparing myself for war once again. An hour before the party I was getting changed into my dress suit when Emily Bennet came in. "So it's true, the protector of my family is here in Mystic Falls."

I chuckled. "Yes, I kept my promise to Ayana and protected her family. It's good to see your family still remembers me."

She sashed over as I was pulling on my pants. "We remember very well, just one touch and I felt all the passion from my ancestors and their complete trust in you."

Her hands stopped mine and brushed them away. I chuckled. "You know Ayana raised me as her own and I'd protect your family with all I have. Even though I was born an abomination, she still cared for me and that means more to me than all the passion I shared with those few ancestors of yours that I shared it with."

She nodded and smiled." True, but that passion is why I'm here."

I grinned." Very well Emily, but remember, I'm leaving tomorrow for war so we only have so long."

She laughed. "I'll keep that in mind."

I was an hour late to my own party. Luckily, the staff entertained the guests in my absence. I went around and greeted everyone before dancing with a few unclaimed women. I saw Katherine on the side whispering to a flushed Emily and Pearl. Chuckling to myself I danced with each of them before retiring or the night.

The next morning I cloaked my secret vault and left for the war. The battles raged for several years and finally ended with a win for the north. Slavery was abolished and I came home to see a battle ragged town. The fell church was burnt down and the Salvatore family was almost destroyed. Several of the founding families were nearly killed off and people were raging about vampires.

I shook my head and went to sleep for a couple decades, my corpse desiccated until the twentieth century. When my oldest staff member entered my chamber and fed me her blood. When I awoke and found her almost gone, I fed her my blood and healed her as best I could. Waking up after desiccation is a pain in the ass!

My body felt weak and my clothes were in tatters. I fed off a few more staff members before changing clothes and heading to town. I bought some new clothes and headed home. I communed with the spirits to talk with Emily. "Why didn't you come to me when you were in trouble, I had plans set to make you disappear into the country side."

Her spirit smiled. "If I'd ran my daughter would be on the run as well, this way my family continues close to you and your protection."

I shed a bloody tear and raged to her amusement. When I finally calmed down I sat down and sighed. "I'd have turned you if you'd asked."

She chuckled. "And that's why I didn't ask, you have your destiny and I have mine. I know you'll continue as you've always done and in the end you'll be the last one standing."

I shook my head and sighed. "My name is Alexander Mikelson."

She nodded. "And it was my greatest pleasure to meet you Alexander."

I shed a few more tears as she faded away. I left the chamber in a somber mood knowing what was just around the corner. I walked throughout history. Everything from the World War One and two all the way to the Reagan administration. I invested stock in all the good companies.

Life was a little boring. I took a trip to the capital towards the end of World War Two and arranged for a certain island 200m off the coast of Nova Scotia to receive a nuclear accident. The poor island disappeared beneath the sea and my mind was much more at ease.

From the seventies to the nineties I spent my time hanging out with a nice vampire I met at a certain Bon Jovi concert. " Where to next?"

I snorted. "I have a gift for you Lexi, and your boy toy. Then I have to head out."

Lexi pouted. "Come on don't leave yet, we just got started."

I shook my head and handed her two small boxes. "We've been partying for thirty years, it's time I head home."

She opened them and snorted. "I'm already spoken for."

Chuckling I shook my head. "There daylight rings smart ass, my parting gift for you and Lee."

She squealed and lunged at me giving me a hug. "Thank you. This means a lot to me."

I smiled and released her. " I know, but hey, if you're ever in my knock of the woods, look me up. I'll throw you a party and we'll hang for a decade or two."

Lexi gave me a trade mark smile and slugged my arm. "Next time I'll introduce you to my friend Stefan, he's a bit of a downer but you'd get along great."

I nodded. "Sure, now I'm off, tell Lee to put that ring on your finger properly or I'll kick his ass."

I started my car to her laughter and drove home. Over the years I'd hired my staff through family recommendations and stuck to the shadows, earning myself a reclusive billionaire type reputation. My once quint manor was now a mansion that had over fifty bedrooms and baths. The ball room was upgraded to the size of a school gym and all the materials were replaced and reinforced to nothing short of bomb shelter level.

My vas front yard and forested backyard had its own appeal to it. And once again I arrived in town with a freshly shaved face and a slight glamour to look a little younger for the aging appearance. I slept till early September of 2009 and was woken up by my new head butler offering his wrist.

After I was well fed, I turned my sites of recent events. The series was just about to begin.

Yeah, so I’m not the best author out there. I’m still learning to adjust to the nuances of ordinary dialogue as I’m an introvert myself. I don’t speak to people unless necessary and even then I try to avoid long conversations. If you find my characters lacking in depth or they seem off to you, I can only apologize. Though if you can do better, I’d love to read your works.
