Chapter 68

"I agree, it came from the creative and Planning department, but the question here is, which company's department?" Alex was getting to where he wanted

Fredrick wasn't a patient man, and the same could be said for his level of intelligence. He stood up, with the intent to confront Alex where he was seated, but Arnold blocked him.

Arnold wasn't your everyday assistant or secretary, he was a well-trained fighter, and he could pass as Alex's bodyguard too.

"I would advise that you take your seat and mind your manners," Arnold told Fredrick, who was getting in his face. He wanted to punch him after watching the way he had been speaking to Mr. Ford all along.

"What will you do? For a secretary, your sure have the balls, to open your mouth in my company?

The cursing word didn't go unnoticed by the chairman, which made him look down in shame. He might have gone wrong along the way while raising his son.

"Fredrick, this is my last warning to you before I throw you out of this room" The chairman had had enough

Fredrick pulled his suit jacket that had risen from his earlier confrontation back in position before returning to his seat.

"I am sorry, Mr. Ford. Please, continue," said the chairman. He was embarrassed for his son and how he was acting.

"As I was saying, three years ago, a proposal that was written by the Ford group's employees turned up at the government office under a different company, and that is why I am here today"

"Are you accusing us of theft, Mr. Ford?" asked Mr. Johson

"You accused yourself, Sir" Alex had not paid attention to the man earlier, but now that he decided to himself known, he realized that he was the man.

The newfound information put a tiny smile on his face, making Mr. Johnson cough guiltily. He surely knew the elephant that was in the room.

"Mr. Ford, mind your language," warned Fredrick. He wasn't one to sit and listen. More like, if he didn't speak, he would be forgotten.

"Chairman Almond, did you review the proposal before it was handed in at the government office?" asked Alex

Alex trusted Chairman Almond to be truthful with him because he was a man of integrity.

"Yes, I did. I reviewed it the day before it was handed in at the government office" chairman Almond answered truthfully.

"Alex nodded in and understanding "Ok, so...."

"I am sorry Mr. Ford," interrupted the chairman. Alex nodded in understanding and gave him a go-ahead to speak. Now that you mention it, my employees had handed in a different proposal earlier and I had rejected it severally but turned out with a perfect one the next day. I understand where you are coming from now,"

The chairman turned to his son and asked "Fredrick, you brought that proposal to me, where did it come from?" Things were beginning to make sense to the chairman, and he was getting scared. His only prayer deep inside was for his son not to be part of the mess.

Yes, Fredrick was a hot head, but he was still his son, and no parent wanted his child to be in trouble.

The question puzzled Fredrick, especially since his father had asked it "It proposal was handed to me by someone from the planning department."

Fredrick knew who it was that had brought that proposal to him, but he didn't want to mention names till he was sure.

Turning to look at Alex, and how calmly he was observing the whole situation, everything began to register in Fredrick's mind.

Despite his dislike for Alex as a person, Fredrick could agree that he did not act on impulse, and his coming here today could be something serious.

"After listening to everything that had been said, I can conclude that the proposal that was handed in belonged to the Ford group, but the issue at hand is, how did it end up at the Almond group?" asked one of the executives. He was one of the Chairman's trusted men and he was a righteous one too.

"Mr. Johson would be the best person to answer that question" Alex answered calmly

He stood up and bowed to the chairman in respect and was about to turn to leave, but the chairman stopped him.

"Please, follow me to my office, I would like to have a word with you" He also asked his trusted man to follow.

Alex was glad for the meeting with the chairman. He decided to go all naked with everything before the older man. The sooner they dealt with the issue, the earlier it would be put behind them.

Alex returned to the Ford group after he met with chairman Almond. Thanks to chairman Almond who said that he would handle the issue, Alex decided to return to the company. Along the way, he received a call from Cross who waiting for him at the company.

After his third in command had betrayed him, Alex appointed Cross to the position and so far so good. The man was doing exceedingly well. It can also be said that he hasn't changed much, matter of fact, Cross just added the duties to what he was doing earlier. And just like before, he was doing it excellently.

Exiting his elevator, he saw Cross who was patiently waiting.

"Come in, Cross" He spoke as he headed to his office.

Arnold sat down to compile everything that was discussed with the chairman of the Almond group, and also made a call to the lawyer as per Mr. Ford.

During the meeting with chairman Almond, Alex had agreed to share fifty-fifty of the business with the Ford group, and the lawyer was to make an agreement that both sides would sign so that the partnership would commence.

"That would be two days from now, Sir. Yes, Mr. Ford would be expecting your call, but he is currently with someone in his office. Yes, thank you"

Arnold hang up the phone and turned to his assistant Martha. With her help, they started to compile everything along with writing down the documents to send to the law firm.

Inside Alex's office, Cross handed Alex was watching something that the IT team had put together.

The video gave an insight into the lab, but nothing about the reasons why the wolf was held. Alex also got to listen to the chat between the so-called boss and Lambert.

The only thing that he deduced from the conversation was that the boss hated him to the core. Whatever he had done to him, he wasn't sure but one thing stood out, this man was coming for his crown and everything that he had worked for.

"Let him enjoy the few remaining days of peace, but it wouldn't last long" Those were the last words that the boss had spoken before he hand up.

The words and the tone of voice sent a chill down Alex's spine. He wasn't one to get scared easily, but he had so much more to lose at this moment.
