Chapter 23: Vixen

Let's go back one week before Klay/Christ and Neerial arrived in Conheart City.

In a castle inside the Outerd Kone, we can see a figure of a man sitting on a throne. The room is filled with darkness, with a silent atmosphere covering it.

The man sitting on the throne is none other than the man called Nicholas Jackson. There's also a dark figure slowly touching him with her hand.

Sliding her hand to his shoulder, slowly making it to his face, she spoke her intentions. "That girl named Seraphina, when will she get here?" asked the woman.

"They will be here in around a week," Nicholas replied with visible fear in his voice.

The woman let go of her hand and appeared in front of Nicholas. Nicholas trembled in fear at the figure in his sights.

"That's too sloooooow; make it two daysssss. If you want to liveeeee," says the woman, intentionally making her voice sound like a snake.

The woman is riding a big white snake and wearing a black dress. She has a wicked appearance and is holding out her tongue. She's acting like a snake herself while having the figure of a beautiful woman. But her appearance is just an illusion; her real self is evil and naturally comes from a demon. Her name is Vixen Serpertine.

"My master will be pleassssssed at my gift for him. This will be the ssssstart of my loyalty for him. You'll do anything to make that happenssss do you understand?" said Vixen.

"B- but ma'am, th- the shadow pledge works at their own pace. I- if I give them an order, they will f- for sure kill me," said Nicholas.

"Ssssso what? Would you like me to killsssss you right now?" asked Vixen.

"N- no ma'am! But as you can see, your request can't be approved. The shadow pledge moves at their own pace, and ordering them to move will result in death," explained Nicholas.

"Isssss that so? Then killing them will make thissss faster, right?" asked Serpertine.

"I- I'm afraid, even if your level is high, it's not enough to beat them," said Nicholas.

This remark triggered the anger of Vixen Serpertine. Showing her sparkling wings in the air, as white as the cloud. Showing her red, angered eyes. Showing the terror of her fangs.

Nicholas quickly jumped from his throne and crawled backward. Reaching the wall, Nicholas has nowhere to go. A small tear came out of his eyes from the frightening scene in front of him.

Vixen violently grabbed Nicholas's shoulders and glared into his eyes. Nicholas struggled, but to no avail. The grab on Vixen is ridiculously tough, to the point that Nicholas couldn't even twitch.

"MY LEVEL IS ABOVE THE SEVEN HUNDREDS, AND YOU'RE TELLING ME I'LL LOSE TO A MERE HUMAN?! ARE YOU INSULTING ME?!" Growled Vixen.

"N- not at all, ma'am. But y- you see, the Shadow Pledge has a lot of legendary adventurers, and legendary-level adventurers are the highest there are!" Said Nicholas.

Vixen didn't speak any further but was still gritting her fang with her teeth. She couldn't accept the reality in front of her, but she conceded. She transformed back to her usual appearance and smiled like nothing happened.

"Is that so? If thatsss the case, there's nothing I can do then," said Vixen.

Nicholas was shocked at her instant change of mood. He just gulped and gave her a silent nod.

"If that's the case, then the gift I'll be able to give to my master is this," said Vixen while holding out a crystal ball in her hands.

"I- is that?!" Muttered Nicholas.

Vixen gave Nicholas an evil grin on her face. Giving approval that Nicholas has a correct idea.

"That's right, it's the king," said Vixen.

The crystal ball shows the face of a male wearing a crown and golden hair. It's the king of Conheart City. Trapped in a crystal ball that Vixen created.

"This crystal ball didn't take much effort to make. It can store only one person and will be destroyed once we release the person inside. This will be my offerings to my master. Hehe..." Vixen smiled evilly while spouting her thoughts.

That's right, the cause of the downfall of Conheart City is none other than Vixen Serpertine. Who'll soon be a comrade of Klay Panthor.

Demon's Side; Klay Demonic's POV

Klay Demonic and Chloe Vampir continued to fight monsters every day without stopping. They were trying their best to level up as fast as they could. However, Klay Demonic is still stuck at his level.

"Sorry, Chloe, it seems like no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to level up," said Klay.

The setting is a desert with red ground that can be compared to blood, giving off an atmosphere that looks like it's hell. The bodies of the monsters covered with their own blood are all over the place. Full of cuts, and their guts are spilling out. It's a nauseous scenario that will make a sane person puke within seconds.

"That's no problem at all, Klay; I'm just lucky that my human rival is doing his best to level up," said Chloe with a clear smile on her face.

While Klay Demonic is stuck with his level of 350, Chloe is already in her 600's. Which means that Karma Cloud is also at the same level as her. Klay Panthor's quest hunting is the reason why he doesn't level up. Even if Klay Demonic is doing his best to raise his level, all his efforts are in vain.

This world doesn't store any experience points. If you reach your max level, the monster that you kill won't add any points to be used when your max level increases.

For example, Klay Demonic kills a monster that is worth 3,500 experience points. All those experience points will just disappear because his level is stuck at 350. So the only choice Klay Demonic has right now is to wait for Klay Panthor to level up.

"So my equal in the human world is a lazy genius who's full of himself because he received all five classes," said Klay Demonic.

"He's nothing like you, Klay; you're a genius and a hard worker. He'll sure lose to someone like you," said Chloe.

"I'm not sure about that," said Klay. "Hey Chloe, if I kill my equal on the human's side, what will happen?"

Even if Klay Demonic already knew the answer to his question, he still asked Chloe. To make sure that his knowledge is correct and reliable.

"You'll forever be stuck at your current level. You won't be able to level up ever again," said Chloe.

"That's right," said Klay. "But I can't wait anymore; we'll go to the human continent, and I'll find this equal of mine and force him to level up."

"You're so impatient, Klay," teased Chloe.

"I don't have any time to waste," said Klay.

"Well, if you want to go to the human continent, we can contact Vixen," said Chloe.

"Vixen? She's on the human continent?" asked Klay.

"Yep, she said she wants to do something for you, so she's preparing for your arrival," said Chloe.

"That's perfect; let's go there right away," said Klay.

The two contacted Vixen and made their way to Conheart City. Klay and Neerial will soon make their way there. The fate of the two meetings will soon arrive sooner than expected.

Human's side; Klay Panthor/Christ Skylar POV

We're now on Outerd Kone, where we are hoping that we find the sister of Nova and Jonathan.

The place is full of roses, tulips, lilies, daisies, etc. Basically, it's a place surrounded by flowers. It gives off a refreshing aroma in the air, making it easy to breathe.

The sky is also clear, and the sun can be seen. It's such good weather that it will make me want to stay in bed and sleep.

"This place is beautiful," said Neerial.

"Yes, it's such a shame we couldn't explore it in peace," I said.

We moved to the side of the street to avoid attention. We're moving sneakily, as if we're shadows hiding in the dark. As we reach our destination, we see a huge stone castle in front of us.

"This is it," said Amberstone.

In front of us is a huge gate surrounded by tall walls. A bunch of guards are at the gate, yawning as if they're bored with their job. It's obvious, but it's unlikely that we'll fight these guards head-on.

"You guys know what to do," said Jonathan, making his next move.

Jonathan began to climb the wall beside us and made his way to the top. It's actually dumb that he thought that. I mean, that stunt he's pulling will attract a lot of attention for sure.

"Wait," Nova said while pulling Jonathan back to the ground.

Jonathan fell down and moaned in pain.

"What is that for?!" Jonathan screamed.

"We're not going to climb; it will attract attention," said Nova.

"Then how will we get inside?" asked Jonathan.

Nova pointed her index finger below and said "Underground."
