CHAPTER 53

Dae Hyun and Min Hye arrived at the bar where they were supposed to have celebratory drinks with the Chairman. A waitress motioned them to a traditional room where the drinks were been served. They went in to meet the Chairman and his daughter seated at the low table on a comfy cloth, conversing but they stopped when they caught sight of Dae Hyun and Min Hye.

They both bowed respectfully to the Chairman and his daughter and Mi Ra felt a smile form on her lips when she saw Dae Hyun. She had wanted to forget about him but it didn't help that she saw him often and she would as she had started working in her father's company in the fashion department which made it hard for her to suppress the feelings she had harboured for him.

They got seated at the table opposite the Chairman and Mi Ra. They called the waiter in and he took their orders and came back with other waiters who carried different delicacies of food in a tray along with drinks. Dae Hyun took a bottle of soju and poured it in the Chairman's cup in a respectful way.

They all poured drinks in their cups and raised it up for a toast.

"Cheers to Dae Hyun on his new position as the vice chairman." The chairman said as they all clinked their glasses and drank in a toast to Dae Hyun.

They all ate for some time but Min Hye barely touched her food, she couldn't stop thinking about what Dae Hyun told her when he said the Chairman wanted her dead and the reason was because he wanted his daughter to marry him instead of her. She felt angry just looking at him and she couldn't stand the sight of the man that wanted her dead, she wanted to take a knife and stab him in the throat with it but she just kept a stoic expression as she observed them all, laughing and chatting while she sat there silently just watching and not saying a word.

"Dae Hyun." The Chairman called and he paid attention to him as he spoke. "I'd like to have a conversation with you." The Chairman continued and Dae Hyun didn't need to think too hard to know what the conversation would be about. He knew the drink was merely a cover up for his true purpose to try and talk him out of getting married to Min Hye but he didn't stress too much over it.

"All right Sir." He replied curtly and the two men left the room while the women watched them. Mi Ra was probably thinking it was business but Min Hye already knew he was trying to separate them. She didn't bother much because she knew Dae Hyun wouldn't be fazed by whatever he offered him.

The two ladies were left alone in the room, Min Hye had a stoic expression as always as she ignored Mi Ra completely, not saying a word to her as she didn't plan to have any conversation whatsoever with the woman whose father wanted to kill her and the woman who was obviously harbouring romantic feelings for Dae Hyun. She was irritated of the woman in front of her.

Min Hye sipped on her drink as she waited for Dae Hyun in boredom so that they could leave as soon as possible as she didn't want to spend another second in there with Mi Ra.

"How's the wedding planning going?" She heard Mi Ra's cheerful voice say and she looked up to see her smiling face.

"We haven't hired a wedding planner yet." She replied with a flat tone and Mi Ra watched her as She wondered why the woman in front of her had a dull personality even though she looked smart. She thought the woman must have a unique personality or quality if Dae Hyun was about to marry her and she wondered what kind of woman she was since she was Dae Hyun's type.

"I'm well acquainted with the best wedding planners since I'm a fashion designer, I can give you a few recommendations." Mi Ra suggested with a smile and Min Hye wondered why the lady was being nice to her which ticked her even more.

"It's okay, Dae Hyun and I want a simple wedding, so we'll find a simple wedding planner." Min Hye said with a straight face and the woman had a disappointed look on her face.

"Ahh I see, I was just trying to give suggestions." Mi Ra said as the woman's grey eyes peered through hers. Min Hye didn't reply anymore as she had nothing more to say to her. "Girls should look out for each other right? I hope we can be friends since we work together now." Mi Ra said with a cheerful voice but Min Hye just shot her a hard look. It seemed like she didn't get the message, it wasn't her fault she didn't since she was a total block head in her opinion, she had probably lived as a princess in her own fairytale world, lacking stress in her life and have probably never been wronged, which made her turn out even more gullible.

"Thanks for your offer but I don't keep friends." Min Hye said with an uninterested voice.

"Ahh I see. It seems like you don't like me, have I done anything to offend you perhaps?" Mi Ra asked and Min Hye was a bit perplexed by her personality, it almost seemed fake because it was hard to see a wealthy person who acted so nice but she knew it was her true nature since she was very easy for her to read.

"No, but we don't have to pretend to each other, I know you like Dae Hyun and it really doesn't sit well with me that you like the man I'm about to wed." Min Hye said with a flat tone as she shared her thoughts and Mi Ra gulped, she wondered how the stoic lady knew of her one sided crush toward Dae Hyun, she was indeed smarter than she had thought her to be.

Mi Ra was left speechless and she found no words to defend herself of the accusation.

.....

"Dae Hyun, you're a smart man and I thought you got the message, but it turns out you didn't." The Chairman said as he and Dae Hyun stood at the balcony.

"Could you be more specific, Sir." Dae Hyun said, feigning obliviousness to his words. The Chairman breathed heavily before saying,

"I wanted to pass the company on to you, that was if you had married my daughter." The Chairman explained and Dae Hyun pressed his lips in a thin line as he adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose.

"I'm already getting married to someone else, I can't leave her for the company." Dae Hyun said firmly but he knew his words would have no effect on the Chairman.

"What are you talking about? How can you refuse a multi billion dollar company for a woman? I didn't think you were this stupid, you've always been my most trusted right hand man, if you don't run the company, then who will I trust to it? My son?" The Chairman said with an angry voice. Dae Hyun felt like pushing him off the balcony but he knew it wouldn't benefit him if he killed the Chairman just yet, so he ignored his urge to kill.

"I'm so sorry for disappointing you Sir but I won't find a woman like her if I don't marry her and besides, I don't have any sort of feelings towards your daughter, so she'll be in a miserable marriage if we do get married, I hope you understand Sir." Dae Hyun said politely and the Chairman pinched between his brows in frustration.

"Don't be ridiculous Dae Hyun, we're talking business and in the business world we don't get married for love, she'll understand and if you get married to her, you can have the woman by your side, she can even live with you if you want, all you have to do is sign the papers." The Chairman persuaded, he was in dire need for Dae Hyun to marry his daughter so that it wouldn't fall in the hands of a stranger, he didn't want to give the company to him when he'd be married to someone else because the company will no longer fall into the hands of his future generation but a stranger's.

"I can't, that would hurt her feelings, I can't do that to her Sir. Please understand my decision." Dae Hyun said, standing firm on his decision.

"Do you really think you're in love? In a matter of years, you'll get bored with each other and then you'll realise you made a big mistake." The Chairman warned, hoping his words would have an effect on him, but he wasn't in love, he was obsessed with every single thing about her and he could never get tired of having her in his arms.
