Ruby Rose

It's currently dark outside, where we see our favourite criminal, Roman Torchwick entering a Dust Store with a bunch of henchman behind him.

Roman: (flicking his cigar) "Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?"

One of the henchman points his gun at the shopkeeper, frightening the old man.

Shopkeeper: (raising his hands) "P-please! Just take my Lien and leave!"

Roman: "Shhh, shhh, shhh, shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money. (to the henchmen) Grab the Dust."

A henchman opens a case and removes one of several cylinders, which the group uses to take Dust from the tube containers on the walls.

Henchman 1: (placing another open case on the display to the shopkeeper) "Crystals. Burn. Uncut."

The shopkeeper proceeds to fill the case. As another henchman goes for another tube, he hears the muted This Will Be the Day song from the girl's direction, and unsheathes his sword and approaches her.

Henchman 2: (pointing his sword at her back) "Alright kid, put your hands where I can see 'em." (no response) "Hey, I said hands in the air! You got a death wish or something!?"

He goes over to her and and taps her shoulder, causing her to turn around, the hood dropping to reveal a surprised Ruby Rose wearing headphones. He motions for her to lower the headphones.

Ruby: (doing so) "Yes?"

Henchman 2: "I said, put your hands in the air, now!"

Ruby: "Are you... robbing me?"

Henchman 2: "Yes!"

Ruby: "Ooohhh..."

While Roman is waiting for his men to finish the heist, a "Hey!" and "Hyah!" are heard and the henchman that threatened Ruby flies past him. Roman calmly motions for another to handle Ruby.

Henchman 1: (raising his gun at her) "Freeze!"

Said henchmen ends up with him and Ruby crashing through the window. The other men look outside as Ruby gets up and unfolds Crescent Rose into its scythe form. Roman scowls, but Ruby smiles back at them before twirling the weapon around, striking it into the ground and turning off her headphones.

Roman: "Okayyy... (to his remaining henchmen) Get her!"

The henchmen head out of the shop and run at Ruby, who spins around on top of her scythe and kicks the first approaching criminal in the face. She gets Crescent Rose out of the ground and fires it off to hit another one with the butt of her weapon, sending him flying.

She fires again and brings the side down on one attacker and dodges the next's gunfire with her rifle's speed, getting close enough to knock him into the air and follow him upwards so she can beat him away to Roman's feet.

As she was about to take out the other remaining three on her left, the three stiffen up and fall to the ground revealing 3 combat knives stabbed to their back of their necks. They then glow red and return back to its owner who starts cleaning the blood off the knives. Roman and Ruby look up from the henchmen to see a teenager around her age in a black trench coat with a cigarette in his mouth.

After he puts away the knives, he takes out the cigarette in his mouth and exhales the smoke before dropping it to the ground.

Y/N: "Impressive work red."

Ruby: "Y-you didn't have to kill them."

Y/N: (looks at the rest of the henchmen that are knocked down) "Maybe not that impressive."

Roman: (chuckles) "You both were worth every cent. Truly, you were." (Drops his cigar and crushes it with his cane as approaching police sirens are heard) "Well, Red and Assassin, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around... "(raises his cane towards the ground) "...I'm afraid this is where we part ways."

Roman shoots a red blast at the ground, which creates a mini smoke screen and Ruby swings her scythe to get rid of the smoke, Y/N and Ruby see Roman isn't there anymore. They both then look around to see him climbing up a ladder on a nearby building.

Ruby: (to the onlooking shopkeeper) "You okay if I go after him?"

The shopkeeper gives a short "Uh huh", as Ruby sets off. While Y/N uses his time alter ability to give him a speed boost and jumps up onto the wall and runs up it, keeping his momentum and lands on the roof with Ruby high-flying again and landing right next to him, who looks at Y/N in awe and shock, while Y/N notices her silver eyes.

Ruby: (turns her attention back to Roman) "Hey!"

Roman: (stopping at the edge of the roof) "Persistent..."

Ruby readies to fight him, while Y/N pulls out his Calico M950, but a getaway Bullhead rises up and opens the hatch to allow Roman inside.

Roman: (turning around and holding up a red Dust gem) "End of the line kids."

He throws it out at their feet and prepares to fire at it with his cane. Y/N seeing this, raises his gun and was about to shoot at the incoming shot and intercept it from hitting the gem, but he decides not to as he sees a blur of purple, white and blonde approaching them. Curious, he lowers his gun and allows Roman's shot to connect with the gem, resulting in a large explosion.

Roman: "Whoa-ho-ho-ho!" (He stops laughing when he sees something on the roof) "Huh?"

A woman in a purple cape is now in front of both Ruby and Y/N, casting a circle of protection over them with her wand. As they both see Glynda Goodwitch waving her weapon and summons several streaks of purple at the craft. Roman is thrown around in the back until he goes to the cockpit, where a woman in red, her face unseen, is struggling with the controls.

Roman: "We got a Huntress!"

The woman gets up and heads toward the back as Roman takes the controls. Glynda glows purple for a moment and aims another blast above the craft, resulting in a dark storm-cloud right over the jet.

Roman: "The hell...?"

With a flick of her wand, large jagged hail starts falling that pummels the jet and even breaks through the window, narrowly missing Roman's head.

Y/N raises an eyebrow intrigued of the woman's appearance as she reaches the back of the ship and her arms and chest light up like fire, aiming a burst of energy at Glynda. The Huntress blocks it, but the flame splatters behind her and glows hot with the enemy's raised hand. Glynda back-flips out of the explosion, which destroys part of the roof, and magically gathers the shards to create a large arrow, which she throws at the craft. The fiery woman shatters the arrow with several blasts, but it reforms just in time to hit the side of the jet due to Roman's quick aerial lean. The wreckage separates and reshapes into more arrows that encircle the jet, but the woman summons several glowing rings around herself that expand and destroy the shards.

Ruby, finally acting, reverts her scythe into its rifle form to fire at the woman, who blocks each shot and creates several blazing circles around her three opponents. However, Y/N stays still, knowing it's a fruitless endeavour to fire randomly and a waste of ammo. He wasn't carrying all his equipment on him, because then he would of attached a tracking chip on the bullhead and let them run away to find them at a later time and possibly be lead to their base.

Y/N then grabs Ruby by the waist and jumps out the explosions radius, to not get hit, while Glynda rolls herself out and looks up to see the hatch close and the craft fly away. Y/N let's go of Ruby, who had a slight dust of pink on her cheeks, knowing it was over. He takes out a cigarette and lights it up, inhaling then removing it from his mouth and exhaling.

Y/N: "So they got away huh?" (while looking at where the ship was a few seconds ago.)

Y/N then turns around to see red going up to Glynda.

Ruby: (looking at Glynda) "You're a Huntress!"(putting on a pleading, awe-stricken face) "Can I have your autograph?!" (Then turns to Y/N) "Can I have yours as well."

Y/N just sighs and starts to walk away before Glynda calls out to him.

Glynda: "And where do you think your going? Your both in serious trouble."

Y/N: "What does it look like? I'm leaving, my job is done here."

Glynda doesn't respond but instead uses her abilities to make both Ruby and Y/N float and follow her causing Y/N's cigarette to drop out of his mouth. As Y/N was about to bring out his gun, he decides not to and wants to see where this goes and see if he could meet him.

Ruby and Y/N are currently sitting at a table in an interrogation room, as Glynda, with a tablet computer, paces around the table they're seated at, right underneath a bright light in the otherwise dark room.

Glynda: "I hope that you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, children. You put yourself and others in great danger."

Ruby: "They started it!" (Y/N sighs in the background)

Glynda: "If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back..." (she notices Ruby's smile) "...And a slap on the wrist." (she demonstrates with her riding crop, which Ruby barely avoids as she gives out an "Eeek!) "But... there is someone here who would like to meet you."

Y/N: "Finally."

Ruby looks at Y/N confused, not knowing if she missed something, but turns to see Glynda move out of the way so they both can see a man in green come through the doorway, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.

Ozpin: "Ruby Rose... (leans in to look at her face) You... have silver eyes."

Ruby: "Uh, um..."

Y/N: "It's about time you showed yourself... Ozpin."

Ozpin: "Y/N Emiya, it's an honour to be in the presence of the notorious Time Reaper (Ruby gasps) and not be dead."

Y/N: (slight smirk) "I could say the same to you. I've heard a lot about you... old man."

Ozpin: (nods in understanding of his words) "We'll get to that soon, but for now..." (turns his attention to Ruby) "Ms. Rose, where did you learn to do this?"(gesturing with his head at the tablet showing Ruby fighting)

Ruby: "S-Signal Academy."

Ozpin: "They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"

Y/N looks towards her, wandering if the same person he is thinking of, knows her.

Ruby: "Well, one teacher in particular."

Ozpin: "I see..."

Ozpin puts the cookies on the table in front of Ruby and Y/N. She tentatively picks one up, eats it in a single bite, and then, not seeing any rebuttal from them or Y/N, she shovels the rest into her mouth.

Ozpin: "It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..."

Ruby: (mumbles through her full mouth) "Oh! Thaws mi unqle! (she then swallows and wipes her mouth, embarrassed) Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!" (proceeds to make some karate-style poses and noises)

Y/N didn't know why, but he had the urge to smile a little at the innocent girls poses.

Ozpin: "So I've noticed. (placing his cup on the table as he leans in, then sits down opposite Ruby) And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"

Ruby: "Well... I want to be a Huntress."

Ozpin: "You want to slay monsters?"

Ruby: "Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon! (talking faster and faster with her enthusiasm growing) You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! (giggles) I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!" (flips out at the last part, staring at the two with a wide, crazy smile)

Glynda and Ozpin study her, while Y/N couldn't help but think that she looks a little familiar.

Ozpin: "What else? (Ruby looks confused at what he meant, so he elaborated) "I can tell there's another reason why, what is it?"

Ruby: (Ruby turns a little red) "Um... W-well there was a time when I was really upset and... (Ozpin nods for her to go on) and a boy around my age had cheered me up... even though he didn't do a good job, he got the point through to me... and it made me want to help people, especially with what he told me. He even told me that his dream is to be a Hero of Justice, (Y/N who was zoning out had snapped his neck towards Ruby shocked and wide-eyed, which Ozpin notices) and I thought that maybe when I help people I could see him again as well and...(turns a little more red) thank him."

Ozpin looks at her for a few more seconds while Glynda looks intrigued as to who this person might be, while Y/N composes himself and acts normal. However inside his mind was currently playing a flashback.

Ozpin: (breaks the silence) "Do you know who I am?"

Ruby: "You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon."

Ozpin: (smiling) "Hello."

Ruby: "Nice to meet you."

Ozpin: "You want to come to my school?"

Ruby: "More than anything."

Ozpin: (exchanging glances with Glynda, who shows her disapproval with a "Hmmph" before he turns back to Ruby) "Well, okay."

Ruby smiles, wide-eyed and open-mouthed. Ozpin then turns his attention to Y/N who looks back at him.

Ozpin: "And you, Mr. Emiya. Things aren't looking so bright for you, you and your father are technically a wanted man." (Ruby looks to Y/N curiously and couldn't help but wonder why)

Y/N: "Sadly it's just me. Plus we both know I could easily escape right now."

Ozpin: (chuckles) "Thats true." (In the background Glynda "Humph" as if to say "speak for yourself") "So I'm guessing he's dead." (Ruby looks a little shocked and sad for Y/N until the next thing shocks her)

Y/N: "Thats right, you could say I had enough of his experiments so I killed him."

Ozpin: "I hope your not taking after him." (Y/N in responds with an unamused face)

A gasp is heard from Ruby as she looks at him in shock and horror, while Glynda's eyebrow twitches at Y/N's carefree attitude towards killing. Y/N and Ozpin glance at Ruby before looking at each other for a few seconds and agreeing to something like they just had a whole conversation.

Ozpin: "Let's cut to the chase, Y/N Emiya, would you like to attend beacon."

Glynda: "Professor..."

Ozpin: (He raises his hand to stop her from talking) "We already talked about this Glynda, (Turns back to Y/N) So?"

Y/N: (Y/N closes his eyes gives an amused "Hmph" before opening them and speaking) "Sure, but with a few set conditions of course."

Ozpin: (chuckles) "Of course Mr. Emiya." (Y/N stands up and they both shake hands)

Right now Y/N and Ruby are seen walking out of the building, Y/N was planning to head back to the dust till dawn shop to stock up on dust since that was his original plan, so he starts walking towards it without saying anything to Ruby. However, she is seen trailing behind him, deep in thought.

Y/N: "Are you gonna keep on following me or are you gonna go home red."

Ruby: "I-I have a name!... and I wanted ask you something."

Y/N: (he sighs before taking out a cigarette, having an idea of what this is about.) "Out with it then."

Ruby: "Um.. Aren't you like the same age as me. (Y/N responds with the number "16") Are you supposed to be smoking?"

Y/N: "These aren't harmful to the body, they just have nice taste and relieve stress." (Ruby says "Ah!" in understanding, but Y/N starts to get irritated.) "Is this what you wanted to ask?"

Ruby: "Huh? Nonono... what I wanted to ask was, why did you kill your own dad, how could you?"

Ruby looks down at the ground and continues walking, not knowing Y/N had stopped and she bumps her head into his back.

Ruby: "Ow!"

Ruby rubs her head before looking up at Y/N, who's looking back at her over his shoulder before he turns around and blows out the smoke from his mouth and looks at the sky.

Y/N: "He had it coming, he experimented on innocents and was the cause of many innocent deaths. He still continued with his experiments and involved a friend of mine who I had to kill. If my father didn't deserve to be killed then tell me who did?"

While Y/N was talking, Ruby was cowering under his glare and the coldness of his voice. Y/N realises this after he was done talking and sighs. Taking the cigarette out of his mouth and dropping it to the ground before he crushes it, he turns to a guilty looking Ruby.

Y/N flicks her forehead, eliciting a cute noise from her, before speaking.

Y/N: "Don't make that face. (Turns around) It doesn't suit a pretty one as yours."

Ruby gasps at Y/N's words before fidgeting and turning a little red. Suddenly, realisation appears on her face and remembers she wanted to look at Y/N's weapons. Before she could even ask him, she looks to him, only to see him gone.

She pouts a little before smiling and couldn't help but be excited for beacon academy.
