Valley

Yin Nanzhao stared at her a glance. He turned the steering wheel with one hand and pulled her into his arms with the other, "Hold me tight!"

Luo Xun had already learned not to let her mind wandered so she spontaneously hugged Yin Nanzhao tightly.

Yin Nanzhao holding her jumped out of the speeding truck through window.

A cannonball struck the truck, with a loud bang, the truck exploded.

In the blazing light filled the whole sky, two people rolled down the steep mountain.

Luo Xun fell and rolled until her head giddy and eyes dazed. All her senses became dull and fuzzy, only vaguely heard the sound of unstopping gunshots, gradually getting further and further away.

It seemed like a long time passed before the two had stopped.

"Xiao Xun?" Yin Nanzhao immediately checked if Luo Xun was injured or not.

He had tried his best to protect Luo Xun in his arms, used his body to cover most of the impacts, but after all, they had fell from such a height, he did not dare to be sure that nothing could go wrong.

Luo Xun woke up a bit, feeling pain all over her body. She couldn't help groaning.

Yin Nanzhao hurriedly asked, "Where does it hurt?"

"From head to toe, it hurts everywhere."

Yin Nanzhao breathed a sigh of relief, yet his tone was very cold, "Very good, it means that there is no injury anywhere."

Luo Xun angrily pushed him away and forcing herself to sit up. She rubbed her sore arms and legs while saying in grimace, "No wonder you've always been single. If such a person like you could find a girlfriend that would be strange."

Yin Nanzhao ignored her muttering complaints. He took out the weapon box and turned it into a one meter scythe, "Let's go! Dragon Blood unit should be chasing after us soon."

Luo Xun looked a glance at the shortened blood-red scythe and recalled the blood-red scimitar that Yin Nanzhao intended to use it cutting off his arm when they were at Consul's official residence. No wonder at that time she thought that the shape was a bit odd when it turned out to be a scythe.

Luo Xun followed cautiously and vigilantly closely by Yin Nanzhao's side.

Beyond expectation, the desolate valley was not without life. There were actually many climbing plants that looked like ivy.

Thumb-thick maroon vines densely grew high up with long and thin maroon needle-leaves. It looked very strong like sharp metal thorns. Some long vines climbed up the steep mountain walls, and some spreaded along the undulating earth. Although they were not dense, it seemed to be full of life.

Yin Nanzhao asked, "Know this plant?"

"I don't know." Luo Xun kicked the barren soil under her feet and squatted down to take a closer look, "I think this plant is a bit strange, be careful."

"There is no other plant coexists, very likely to be highly poisonous. Be careful not to touch it." Although Yin Nanzhao did not know biology, but he had escaped from death many times and was very sensitive to abnormal external environment.

In order to avoid the vines, two people did not walk fast.

A group of Dragon Blood unit's soldiers had chased after them.

Yin Nanzhao swung his scythe. One man was killed and fell on the lush vines with blood gushing out.

As if the activation button was pressed, those plants suddenly came alive. The maroon vines swam all over the place like snakes entwining living creatures that intruded into its territory. Each slender needle pierced into the human body like countless straws sucking blood thirstily.

Luo Xun and Yin Nanzhao had been on guard against the vines in advance. They never dared to get close it, but the people who were chasing them overlooked it and happened to be standing near the vines. Everyone was entangled.

They struggled desperately, but the more they struggled, the tighter the vines became.

They shot, but to no avail. The thick and thin vines were endless, even the heads broke but there're still tails, no afraid of bullets at all.

They were so frightened that their soul flew away and spirit scattered, even stretched out their hands to drag them and got more entangled by vines.

These plants were not like plants at all. They were like ruthless experienced predators, mercilessly slaughtering their prey.

Yin Nanzhao wielded his scythe and cut off all the vines that rushed towards them.

"Xiao Xun!" He warned Luo Xun to stay close to him.

However, Luo Xun seemed to be attracted by something and stared blankly at everything in front of her. She even took a few steps forward involuntarily, wanting to see more clearly.   A vine twisted and wrapped around her arm, yet she was not aware, still staring intently at those plants sucking humans.

It was too late for Yin Nanzhao to chop it down with the scythe. Because the vines were plants, not animals, even if it were cut down, it would not die immediately and would still 'bite' Luo Xun.

He could only soar over and grabbed the vine head. The vines were like maggots quickly stabbed thorns into his palm and sucking hard. With a scythe in his other hand, he quickly cut down the vines. After a while, the vines tightly tied to his hands slowly loosened and fell to the ground.

Luo Xun was still watching intently as before, completely forgot what was happening around her.

Since she wanted to see it, just let her see until she's satisfied. Yin Nanzhao didn't bother her anymore, only wielding the scythe protected her by her side.
