The Memoir Of An Immortal

"Two years!" It's been two years since I broke free from the shackles of the underworld and started a new journey as an immortal. I wasn't searching for a way out, though I was tired of my endless suffering in the underworld. He found me when I wasn't searching for Him, I've been granted amnesty despite my numerous sins against the Supreme immortal. "Tony Storm, I have a great assignment for you! Are you willing to start this journey?" I nodded my head weakly and that's how it all began. Regaining back the dignity of the human race from the rulers of the underworld, I now journey freeing those that were once like me and making sure I don't fall back to the underworld.

Entry 4 - Spirit Without Words Is Icing Without Cake

Opening my eyes groggily, I noticed everywhere was just getting bright. "It seems the sun is just waking up too!" I chuckled lightly before observing my ward, it was a miracle I was able to sleep considering what happened yesterday. Everything in my ward was still in its position, squinting slightly I noticed something on the chair in my ward, it inflated and deflated slowly like a balloon.

Not second guessing the obvious I knew someone was in my room so early in the morning. Faces flew through my mind at light speed as I queried the character of everyone who went through my mind. "Mom!" I whispered, it is only mom that would be in my ward at this time of the day. And I doubt if anyone with pure intentions other than mom is seated before me.

"Mom!" I called out as the figure stirred a bit before sitting upright. The day was getting brighter by the minute and I could see a rough outline of the person on the chair. "That's definitely mom!" I thought to myself.

"Tony Storm!" I smiled cheekily to myself with my heart turning warm. "Tony how do you feel?" She asked as she drew the chair closer, sitting by my head side.

"I am fine mom!" I replied.

"Tony do you know Jesus Christ?" She asked out of the of the blue, leaving me stunned for a moment. I could feel the anxiety rolling off her in waves but I didn't know how to answer. It's not like I haven't heard of Jesus, like prophet Mohammed or some other prophet. Though something stirred within me, I can't explain it but there was this deep longing in my heart.

"Who is he?" I asked but somehow I felt I knew the answer to my question.

"Tony!" She began, "anyone born to a slave is who?"

"A slave... of course!" I answered though I felt sick just imagining how a generation could be enslaved because they were born to one slave.

"How do you feel about this?" She followed with another question.

"Terrible, to be completely honest I feel like throwing up!" I replied with a scrunched up face as memories of my experience in the underworld began to surface one after the other.

"That's good! But what if they were lawfully enslaved?" Silence ensued with the sound of our breathing heard, with footsteps outside my ward. Deep in thought, I didn't know what to say.

"I'm confused!"

"What if they sold themselves into slavery?" She asked this time around with a glint in her eyes as she waited for my answer. Shaking my head in disbelief I wondered who would sell themselves into slavery and for what reasons they would.

"Why would anyone do that?"

"Hmm!" She sighed wistfully, "through disobedience one man sold himself and his descendants to another master! It was a lawful transaction Tony! Adam sold himself and his descendants to slavery when he fell into the temptation of the serpent!"

"The serpent!" I thought to myself remembering the stories we were once thought in children's church. "The serpent!... The serpent!... is it that old wretched serpent?" I asked myself trying to piece together the pieces of the puzzle.

"Adam's disobedience came with a price that would cost a man's life to be paid! But the life of a man who is without sin was required!" She said while looking out the window, "tick.. tock.." The clock sounded filling in the silence.

"So what happened?" I asked already absorbed into the story.

"God knew all men were stained with sin so He had to intervene by becoming a man Himself!" My eyes widened slightly after hearing that, everything started getting clearer.

"And God sent His Holy Spirit to brood upon a virgin He chose, Mary! And Mary became pregnant with a boy who was God in human flesh!" I gasped softly after hearing that, I remember hearing this story many times in the past but now it all makes so much sense. "He was not known as God," Mom continued, "but the son of God, Jesus Christ!"

I smiled after hearing that part, a long story but I finally knew who Jesus Christ was.

"Jesus Christ was known as the son of God because He was born from the union of God and man in the person of Mary, He was just a little baby when He was born. He needed time to grow to fufill His mission just like you Tony!" I nodded as she spoke not realizing this advice was one I would run with for the rest of my life.

"Jesus Christ was sent here to wash away the sin of mankind through His death and also defeat the old serpent by taking the keys of death and coming back to life, something no man has ever done!" I really wished I had a bowl full of popcorn right now with orange juice. It was quite a surprise no one had come to interrupt us throughout mum's storytelling.

"He was without sin throughout His life, He brought hope to the hearts of people. He showed everyone that God still had all of us in His plans, we now have hope that no sickness or disease can defeat us!" Mom paused for a moment, the atmosphere heavy.

"But He was here to die for our sins, to wash away the sins of mankind. He was nailed to the cross, those nails were driven into his hands and legs and He was left to die, booooom!" It felt like explosives went off in my head as the dots got connected. The man I saw back in heaven with those holes in his hands, the warmth radiating from Him was Jesus Christ. He still accepted me despite who I was, now I know why He didn't tell me anything.

Spirit without words were not enough, He had me come back to my world for a purpose which I would know and fufill. Tears were falling down my cheeks now, I didn't know how to reach Him and let Him know how grateful I was. "Huff! Lord Jesus I'm so grateful for what you've done," I muttered under my breath.

"Son, this are the words God left us with when He left this world as the son of God!" Mom said as she gave me a big book in black covers. "He also left us His Holy Spirit to guide us and help us reach Him every moment of our lives!" I nodded my head as I listened, "right here.." placing her hand over my heart she continued, "the Holy Spirit is inside of you Tony Storm! You call on Him any and every time, OK?"

"Yes mom!" I answered.

"Knock! Knock! Can I come in?"
