Chapter 12

Davien P. O. V

I ended up sleeping in the room right across from mine, that was frankly the only way I could put my mind at ease. That pup wasn't officially in the clear in my book, there were still a lot of things about him I needed to make sure of.

"That's today?" I voiced out with a sigh, I couldn't see it, but I knew Oliver was grinning at the other side.

"Did you forget? The elders aren't so easily swayed, you should do all you can to earn some brownie points." He replied inbetween grunts, I could guess he was already hitting the gym.

"I have a thing to do today…" my mind spiraled to Kian's face, I pictured how angry he would be if I ditched him. It wasn't a pretty sight.

"A very important thing." I reiterated, opening my closet, and pulling out a grey shirt.

Oliver breathlessly asked, "What thing?"

I bit my lower lip, how crazy would it sound if I told him we would be planning to destroy Saint Incorporations, by supposedly going to have a word with Caesar Fabri.

"Don't tell me you have a date. Damn you Davien, if you blow off the mentorship program to go screw around, I will drive over to your house and coat your dick in wolfsbane!"

Damn!

For fuck sake, I was the frickin Alpha! Why the hell did it sound like the people around me were all frickin monsters?

Pinching my temples, I muttered profanities under my breath, "Fine, I already gave my word, it'd be out of character not to go. I'll just reschedule my other plans." Although I said that, I started to wonder if that really was possible.

The kid was like a hurricane, and I couldn't predict where he was gonna hit next.

"I've gotta go-"

"Wait, before that, what do you plan to do about Gwen? Her mate can't possibly be that idiot, Tyson." Oliver snapped at me, finally getting to the main thing on his mind.

I had known him since forever, and whenever he had something to talk about, he'd deflect your focus by bringing up something just as important first.

"Don't get me started, the moon goddess has been sitting on her ass, making a hell of matches lately."

"She honestly can't end up with a man like him, right?"

I sighed, I wanted to say that Oliver was right, but knew that would just be me picking sides. As an Alpha, I needed to be impartial when it comes to these things.

"It's her call in the end. No one can interfere in these matters. Even though we mean well." He didn't say anything else, but I could feel that he knew that I was right.

"See you after the program." He made a mhmm noise in response and I ended the call afterwards.

As soon as the call disconnected, the door opened, and Kian walked inside, wearing yet another one of my hoodies!

"It's rude to eavesdrop on other people's conversations." I narrowed my eyes as he sat at the edge of the bed next to the close I planned on wearing.

"So you could tell…an Alpha isn't in name alone." He muttered the latter part to himself, then crossed one of his legs over the other in a slow manner, careful not to reveal too much skin.

Not that I was paying attention.

I tossed my phone on the bed, then stood in front of him, towering over him with the intention to intimidate him.

However, the only thing on my mind, was how if he reached out, his hand could go into my towel and come in contact with my third leg.

Shit.

"So, why are you here?" I asked, thinking of all the things that could turn a man off.

Since he just had a bath, his scent was fresher and sweeter than yesterday. What's more, he used my soap, in my bathroom, so my scent was on him, adding to the stimulation.

Ralph was half gone!

Kian hissed and averted his eyes from my crotch, "That mentorship program you're headed to, tell me about it." He said, in an uneven mix of anger and…embarrassment?

His cheeks were flushed, but his eyes were vexed, I couldn't pick out which he was truly feeling.

"That? It's an annual program held in this district, it's purpose is to guide young pups on their future roles in their packs, before they get their wolves." I explained with both hands on my waist.

"That means, it isn't controlled by just your pack, a good number of packs have a hand in it." Kian deduced, pinching his chin.

"Of course. It's for this entire district, you'd find even an enemy pack in attendance."

"If that's the case, then who is the organiser? To have so many packs and coalition come together, they must be a tough force." He asked, digging up things most people wouldn't even think to ask.

I could tell what sort of image he had in mind, just from seeing him a few times, I could guess how his mind reacted.

"It's Silvertail." I answered, Kian raised a brow, it was certainly the first time he had heard the name.

"Is that a pack or a person being referred to?" He inquired.

I don't know why, but I found myself grinning when he didn't know something and asked me about it. Ever since we've met, he was the well informed one. It felt nice to finally have one over him.

"It's both. Isaac Silvertail, he was a wise alpha in his time, who singlehandedly created an antidote to cure a deadly disease that only affected pups. What's remarkable about him, is how he never discriminated between packs when administering the cure. All the pack leaders respected him, and subsequently after his death, the name of his pack got changed and named after him. Now, it's his descendants who host this mentorship program in his honour each year."

Still looking away, he nodded, "I see. So, I can guess you were selected this year to be a mentor."

"Sadly, yes. This year, they opted for a younger range of mentors, in hopes to connect with the mentees."

"Sadly?"

"It's not as great as it sounds." Tired of standing, I sat beside him, but laid my back on the bed, using my hands as a cushion for my head.

"Brute," I heard him say under his breath, my lips curled up into a half smile.

"Recently, the program is just an excuse for pack elders to show off their Alpha's achievements over the past year. The pups are used as objects and the air is tensed as fuck." I said, not knowing why I was even telling him this.

Just why was I so okay with his presence? This natural calming effect he gave off was starting to scare shit out of me.

Thankfully he got up, "Since you have plans, let's reschedule our strategising for this evening." He sauntered over to a drawer and pulled out a pen and paper.

"Here," he passed the note he scribbled something down into.

I took it without bothering to check what it was, "Giving me your number already?"

His features flattened, "Don't be ridiculous, that's the time and location for where we'll discuss our plans. Don't be late." The 'don't be late' was said with gritted teeth, and narrowed eyes.

"I'll return these back to you after I've washed and dry cleaned them." He said, before stepping out of the room and closing the door after him.

Once I was certain he was gone, I let out a groan and relaxed my shoulders. I quickly brought the paper to my line of sight, "A museum?" I raised a brow, wondering why we had to discuss our plans in a museum.

Just as I was about to toss the note, I noticed he wrote something on the back too.

"For emergencies only…" I didn't even finish reading, when my eyes caught sight of what looked to be his number, written at the bottom left of the paper.

I darted my eyes to the door, a small smile played on my lips, I didn't know why, but the feeling I got from having this, felt a hundred better than getting sucked off.

"This kid…he really is dangerous."
