You died, Xavier

*****************************

I woke up due to the extreme hangover I was having, I clenched my hair and winced in pain, nothing can beat down a man like a hangover.

I looked around, and I recognized where I was, I was in a nursing home not far from the boys' dome in the Warriors temple.

I went outside and walked back to the dome. It was strange that there was not a single person around on my way to the dome.

'Where did they all go?'

I reached the dome, and as expected, there was no one there. It was like the whole temple was empty. I went to check the training field, and as expected, nothing.

I decided to go back to the dome and wait until the main gate of the temple flew open. The masters looked stunned along with the students who stood behind them.

I looked around and behind me to be sure if it was me they were staring at like they'd just seen a ghost. I was confused at the confused gazes on their faces. What went wrong?

Zeke was the first to approach me, but he took careful steps, Emily followed behind him, also taking careful and slow strides.

"Xavier?" Emily called out.

"Yes?" I answered, Zeke got to where I was standing. He took out a stick and began to poke me with it.

"Watch where you poke that thing," I said, slapping the stick away from his hand.

"It's you!" He said, and I blinked twice.

'What was the crazy act?' I asked myself.

"Who else?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"What the hell happened?" I asked again.

"You died, Xavier," Emily said, and I turned to her.

"Died?" I asked, and Zeke nodded.

I burst out in laughter, but they just stared at me like I was crazy. Were they serious right now? They were the crazy ones.

"I Died?" I asked again, and they nodded.

"Come on, guys, you almost got me there. You guys planned it well." I said, wiping off the tears that rolled down my eyes due to the extreme laughter.

"We are serious, Xavier," Emily said.

"I found you behind the dark alley close to the bar. You were cold as ice, and you stopped breathing." Zeke said. I realized this was the first time I had seen him being so serious.

"He brought you here. We all saw you. You were dead and gone." Emily said with tears glistening in her eyes.

"Then how do you explain me standing in front of you right now?" I asked, I was slowly getting frustrated and angry.

"We don't know, it's...it's a miracle," Ezekiel said.

"Miracle, huh," I said.

"All I remember is getting drunk, passing out, and waking up in the nursing home," I said, slowly losing my patience at the nonsense they were spouting.

"We took your body to the nursing home, we came back to get your body back to your Kingdom, but... here you are, alive and well," Ezekiel said, he embraced me happily, but I pulled away.

I felt an immense pain in my head and memories of me walking towards a dark, narrow alley looking hypnotized, flashed in my head.

"Excuse me," I said and then bowed to the masters, who were still staring and looking at me like they had just seen a ghost.

I went to the relaxing place in the temple, the roof, and because the temple was built beside the sea, the wind whipped against my face while my hair danced in rhythm with the wind as I stared blankly at the horizon.

"I died?" I said to myself and then shook my head in disbelief. Why should I believe them? They were all crazy.

"What's it like to revive from death?" Emily asked, I turned to the source of the voice and saw her standing behind me with a smile on her face.

"Stop saying that."

"But it's the truth, we saw you die, you were as cold as ice when Zeke brought you," Emily said.

"A truth that doesn't make a f*cking sense!" I ran out of patience and yelled, I came here to relieve my stress, but it somehow followed me here.

She walked towards me and cupped my face with her hands.

"I know you're scared and confused, No one would want to hear anything about death, but in your case, it's amusing and mysterious. You should find out what happened to you instead of forcing yourself not to believe others." She said.

I was about to speak when her lips unexpectedly landed on mine, She kissed me. Emily pulled away and I was stunned. She flashed a smile and left, I turned back to the sea in a daze, inhaled sharply, and shook my head, stopping the scene from replaying in my head.

I went back to the dome and everyone who saw me coming through voluntarily stepped out of the way, whispering things into their ears.

I passed by nonchalantly, I needed space and thankfully they were giving me enough space.

I might turn out to be the talk of the temple, 'The freak who revived from death' but it doesn't bother me, I have a lot on my plate as it is.

I got to the room and met Ezekiel, walking restlessly, through and fro. "You're here!" Zeke said and embraced me again.

" That's enough," I said, pushing him off me.

"What do you mean, I thought I lost my friend to death, do you know how I felt knowing you died on my watch?" Zeke said and I saw a tinge of guilt flash in his eyes.

"I was so scared, knowing I suggested having a drink, so if you had not revived, it would have been my fault entirely," Zeke said. This was the first time I had seen him this serious apart from the time he lost his favorite snack to the pigeons.

"Would you stop talking about death?!" I said. For some reason, the mention of death stirred something deep inside me, and it was an alien feeling.

"How did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Come back to life, it's so strange. You were out for a whole day, exactly 24 hours." Zeke said.

I grunted and walked to the bathroom, I shut the door behind me and undressed myself. I turned on the shower and let the cold water roll down my skin. I started seeing weird images of Athena calling unto me and a dark alley flashing through my head.

When I was done I tied a towel loosely around my waist and went out, I met with Zeke's stunned gaze and I wondered what was up with him today, he started in awe to the point that I became embarrassed.

"How the hell did you have the time to get a tattoo?" He asked and I took a look at my body. I froze at the sight I saw.
