Lea practically explodes into my apartment, her energy filling the space before I've even had a chance to fully register that she's here. The moment she spots me, her eyes widen, her mouth drops open, and then she lets out a shriek loud enough to wake the entire building.

"You got engaged, and you didn't even call me to tell me it was going to happen?" she shouts, hands on her hips, looking both furious and thrilled.

I can't help but laugh, caught somewhere between embarrassment and excitement. "Lea, I didn't even know he was going to propose! It was a surprise for me too."

She narrows her eyes, but I can tell she's holding back a grin. "A surprise? You? Engaged to Damien Frost? Girl, I feel like I missed an entire movie."

I shrug, feeling my cheeks heat up. "He just… he just did it. Right there in the middle of dinner. I didn't even know what to say at first."
