A.N: Omg Guys, I'm deeply sorry to have abandoned this book for days. I was occupied by my other novel; The infamous Dark Alpha is my Bodyguard, and I needed to update it daily. It hasn't been easy for me. I hope by next month everything will be alright, and I do hope that we can understand. <3 < strong>

Liam was chilling against a boulder with his left hand in his pocket, his right hand holding the cigar firmly as he puffed out smoke into the air.

He took in his environment, his ears picking up the slightest sound that he could hear. He was on the damaged street not far from their school. Some days ago, a riot took place and everywhere was destroyed, leaving debris and broken walls on the floor. Recently, it had turned into a hideout where bad guys carried out their transactions and they hurriedly left not to be cited by any police.

He stood for over twenty minutes before he heard the clinking of boots and he knew it was one of his men. Mark approached with a brown envelope, the man was a seemingly tall man with a gruff voice, he always had a hardened look on his face and there was a scar that covered his left cheek. "Liam" He called out his name.

Liam dropped the cigar to the ground and distinguished it with his shoes. "Our boss was pleased. He looks forward to working with you in the future" He told the young boy and handed him the envelope.

"Me too" Liam mumbled, as he received the money with a smile on his face, he pried it open to see it stacked neatly against each other and his smile widened. He gave a nod to the man and went his way, Mark did the same.

While Liam was walking home, he had carefully stowed the money into his backpack so that it would go unnoticed. He didn't realize Xavier was approaching him from behind, the latter slapped him on his head from behind. "How many times did I tell you not to greet me like that!?" He sounded displeased by what his friend had just done.

"That's boy's way of greeting, you don't expect me to hug you, do you?" Xavier countered as they made their way down the street. "Besides, wouldn't you be going to Maisie's place today, her mom said she made a new recipe" He informed Liam with a big smile.

Having other plans, he had to cancel his meeting with Maisie today, "I don't know man. I'll try next time" He muttered in a tone that conveyed to Xavier that it was his final decision and the latter didn't push it. Eventually, Liam went away to his house while Xavier continued walking over to Maisie's place.

During the weekend, her friends usually came to help as they mostly had nothing to do but stay in their boring houses, they figured out that Maisie's mother's restaurant was quite fun so they always came to assist in any way. And the kind woman would reserve them some pastries along with tea.

When he got to the restaurant, it was bustling like usual and he saw Danisa moving about with trays in her hand, he smiled a little as he walked right into the restaurant.

Danisa who had just received the plates from the customer turned to see Xavier making an entrance, she rushed to him and made him hold the tray, "You know what to do" She said with a wink before disappearing from his sight to sit on a nearby chair.

Xavier who was still stunned closed back his lips and made his way to the kitchen where he saw Maisie by the table kneading the dough.

He drooped the plate by the sink for Isolde to wash, the latter frowned her face upon seeing Xavier dropping it amongst the one she had washed and it irritated her. "Xavier!" She called out his name but he didn't respond to her and just went over to Maisie as if she was the only one in the room.

Standing next to her, his gaze landed on her hair which was pulled into a bun and tendrils fell over her face, it was then covered by a cap. She was wearing an apron on top of her black gown, he watched as sweat trickled down her face as she exerted force in kneading the dough. "The dough looks much today" He pointed out.

Maisie glanced at him and a smile graced her lips upon seeing him there, she didn't know he was going to come as time had passed by, "Would you like to help?" She asked him.

"Certainly" He responded. Maisie was grateful that someone with much power was present and he would knead better than her. She washed her hands and removed the apron while guiding Xavier to the faucet to wash his hands.

When he turned, she held the apron between her hands, and he lowered his head and she put it over his neck. She then stepped closer while tying the rope behind his back. All the while, Xavier felt nervous that she was too close to him. It wasn't that he hated it, he liked her being so close to him and he was scared to fumble. "There," She said to him and he went over to the dough and started to knead it.

"I need some help here" Danisa's voice rang out loudly. She had resumed her work after having a two-minute break and was feeling tired again. Maisie offered to help her out while Isolde and Xavier focused on their respective works.

Finally, when they were done with the day's work, they all sat down outside under the shed exhausted. "Thanks once again, my prince and princesses. You guys are the best" Maisie's mother gave them a heartwarming smile before asking Maisie to hurry up with the pastries that she reserved for them.

Maisie walked out with a tray of muffins, sandwiches, donuts, and milk bread, along with fresh milk. It was heavy and she had to watch her steps. Xavier quickly stood up and went to take hold of the tray, he took it from her and walked towards the shed while Maisie thanked him. He always proved himself to be useful, which was the reason why she admired him.

Her mother left them to chat while she went to conclude all the work. "There's this gym" Isolde started with her mouth stuffed with bread as she looked over at everyone who was silently munching on their food, they gazed at her while they listened attentively. "They require some part-time workers that would be paid wages. The pay was quite high, anyone who wants to join?" she inquired, her eyes glancing at everyone.

"Sure" Xavier affirmed, "How much?"

"200$," She said to them and saw everyone watching in awe, they had stopped eating for the moment. "Seriously?" Maisie blinked.

"Yeah," Isolde answered."For a day, we have to work nonstop" She informed them of the crucial part.

"That's nothing" Danisa waved her hands dismissively, she wanted to sleep early tonight so that she would gain a lot of energy and be ready for tomorrow's challenge.

"But how are we going to get in, isn't it late? Others must have applied" Xavier pointed out, assuming they had informed them earlier, they would have signed for the worm but now was too late and he was certain other people had gotten the job.

She dropped her milk bread on the tray and held her head high, her shoulder raised proudly as she gazed down at them. "Minions, I already registered us" She spoke loudly, and then said in a hushed tone with her left hand covering her mouth slightly, "And we got in"

Isolde waited for the round of applause that should've reached her ears by now, unfortunately, they all had a tepid expression on their face with their arms crossed across their chest. They stared at her with a bored look, puzzled, she asked, "What? Aren't you happy that we got in? It's truly a big gym and it's once in a 'lifetime opportunity' she emphasized as her eyes darted across each of them.

"You didn't inform us first" Xavier reminded her. Once again, she had done something without informing them of it and he didn't like that behavior.

Heartbroken, Isolde whispered, "Guys... I did this-"

"For our best!" They all cheered, and their once bored look turned pleased once and for all. The girls went over to smack her face with kisses while Xavier chuckled, and resumed eating. "You're our queen" Maisie mentioned and Isolde began to feel herself.
