CHAPTER 88

As I walked up the stairs to the room Terran and I used to share, a familiar yet subtle scent struck me. I couldn't place a hand on it.

I continued to walk, thinking it might be one of the maids around the house, but something was different; the scent wasn't that of any maid. I had smelled it before.

My beast was on alert with every step I took, and as I walked, the smell only grew stronger.

I reached for our room; the smell was coming directly from the room. It was that of a woman; her perfume ached to bring back memories from where I had first seen her, but nothing came.

I alerted my beast even more, prepared for whatever might come from the room. It was the middle of the night, and I would hate to bother anyone else in the house about something I wasn't sure of. I'd also hate myself if I happened to turn away from the room.
