Savior Game (3)

Chad seemed to be losing consciousness, and I realized that I didn't have to kill him. Hopefully, he had learned his lesson. I also realized that if he remained unconscious like this, he might be killed by other rankers, so it was best to leave him be.

And it seems like he too had fallen into his Egoistic stage when he awakened his narrative energy.

[Private System: The effect of "Time Accel" has ended.]

Setsuna clapped and couldn't help but laugh in the midst of the chaos around us. She ran over and slapped my back, complimenting my combat skills.

"You defeated a Slayer without even using any skills. Expected from Einsamer," Setsuna said, giggling.

I couldn't believe she could still find amusement in this situation, but I decided to go along with it.

However, her expression suddenly changed to one of seriousness and caution, as if she had realized that the battle was still raging around us.

"I know a Slayer's weakness is speed, as long as he couldn't use his spear. He was nothing, just an average person. His first mistake was throwing his spear at me. He thought he wouldn't miss any target, but I had Speed Accel," I explained, my nose still bleeding and exhaustion starting to set in after the effects of the potion had worn off.

Damn, using this hidden skill in reality was definitely a bad idea.

"Do you have a healing elixir?" I asked.

Setsuna nodded and gently embraced me, summoning a small potion. I took a sip, and I could feel my nosebleed stop. The burning sensation in my veins also disappeared.

"I still can't believe magic actually exists in this world," I said to her, my lips still covered in blood.

Setsuna had a bewildered expression on her face when she heard my statement.

"Moreover, you adapt so quickly to this survival environment," I continued.

It was very surprised as someone from high society like her who was very comfortable with her life style could adapt so quickly to this survival game.

After a moment of silence, Setsuna gently pushed me back to the ground and stood up to look at Hyun Hee, who was covered in the blood of her enemies.

Only then did she reply to me, her gaze turning elsewhere. I could only see the shadow of a warped expression on her face, and it seemed to me that the Setsuna I knew might no longer be here.

She wasn't always calm and collected, and this surreal survival experience, where the strongest devoured the weakest, must have changed her a lot. But she had also become kinder and more enjoyable to be around.

"Perhaps this is the real me. Am I actually a kind person?" Setsuna spoke, looking up at the sky and diverting her attention from Hyun Hee.

It felt like there was a barrier between us at that moment. I stood up, brushing off the mud and blood from my clothes, regaining my balance without responding to her. I couldn't comfort her right now, but there was one thing I could do to help her and Shan in the present and in the future.

All around me, the screams of agony, clashes of steel, and explosions continued to echo throughout the stadium. The drones still hovered above my head, but this time their targets were innocent people who couldn't even defend themselves, especially children.

In the midst of the chaos, Narathan ran towards the center of the battle, where rankers were slaughtering each other and drones mercilessly killed innocent children. He swiftly shot arrows, destroying the magic drones one by one, reducing them to blue particles that faded into nothingness. However, his efforts were in vain, as there were too many drones to be taken down individually. It would take hours.

I told Setsuna to defend the vulnerable people in need of help, while I followed Narathan from behind.

Setsuna didn't stop me and gestured her agreement by immediately rushing to protect nearby people who were screaming for help. Even though I had just met Narathan, I felt a growing sense of friendship and concern for him.

Since the effect of the Speed Accel potion had reached its limits, I could only rely on my remaining strength to keep up with Narathan. However, there was one thing that could increase my agility. As I pondered, blue particles started to revolve around my body, forming a dense layer of dazzling fabric that materialized into a transparent battle armor. Although the armor wasn't fully visible, indicating that its enchantment was not at its fullest potential, the buff potion greatly enhanced my strength and overall senses, making me feel like a superhuman.

My legs moved at an incredible pace, and within seconds, I finally caught up to Narathan. As I arrived beside him, I noticed the unsettling expression on his face.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"My brother, I found him," he replied in a trembling voice, pointing towards the chaotic crowd being slaughtered by evil rankers and drones.

I looked in the direction he was pointing as we both ran towards it. There, I saw a young boy with long brown hair, around eight years old, pushing through the crowd of fighting adults, blood splashing all around him. The horror that this boy must have experienced was unimaginable for someone his age.

Out of nowhere, someone snuck in and grabbed the boy amidst the chaos. Narathan shouted, "Nooooo!" and accelerated his speed even further.

As we reached the area where several rankers were fighting amongst themselves, I positioned myself to shield Narathan from countless slashes. Thanks to the battle armor, absorbing these attacks wasn't a big deal, but a visible crack appeared on the armor, indicating that it wouldn't withstand much longer.

Fortunately, Narathan found his brother and quickly pushed through the crowd to tightly grab the little boy's hand. However, the girl who held the other hand of the child looked at Narathan with a frown.

"Let go of him! Are you even human to lay your hand on children?" the girl with wavy yellow hair said in an angry tone.

Narathan furrowed his eyebrows and responded harshly, "That should be my question. He is my little brother."

There was a moment of silence between them amidst the chaos. They stared at each other for a second until the little boy shifted their attention to the current situation.

"Brother!" the little boy said with a tearful smile.

Wait a second... On a closer look, I realized that she was the person I saw in the elevator with Narathan and another black-haired girl when I first entered this building!

I understood now that the wavy yellow-haired girl was just trying to help this boy, and Narathan had formed a wrong opinion about her. But before she could explain, five rankers appeared out of nowhere, wielding swords and daggers, and leaped to attack us. I easily deflected one of the men's attacks and used my sword to cut off his arms, causing him to curse and scream in agony.

But Narathan narrowly escaped death as the sword of one attacker nearly reached his neck. Suddenly, it was suspended in the air. It was the yellow-haired girl, who wore a black sweater and blue jeans, who had saved him. She used her fist to clutch the edge of the attacker's sword, halting it from reaching Narathan. She then punched the attacker in the face, causing him to collapse unconscious.

The tall boy was left with his jaw dropped after witnessing her fist, which seemed to be made of steel, or even more solid than steel!

The wavy yellow-haired girl then said in her stern yet alluring voice, "So, that is your brother that you mentioned in the elevator?"

Narathan frowned before his expression changed as if he had realized something. "Ohhh, I know now. You are the yellow-haired girl that I talked to in the elevator!"

She slightly nodded before turning to face the three other rankers. She raised her calm voice and said, "I know it is too late for introductions, but my name is Dora."

Dora briefly looked at me before conjuring blue particles into her fist, which formed into magical gloves with an exterior that resembled dragon scales, wrapping around both of her arms.

Only then did I realize that she was one of the high rankers, yet she hadn't modified her body, as there was no visible line of light emitted from her. The three rankers who charged to attack her exchanged nervous glances with each other once they saw her display of skill.

After all, the dragon-like gloves she equipped on her hands could only be utilized by one of the rarest foundation archetypes, the Dragon-Slayer.

Subsequently, the three rankers flinched and ran away. However, another wave of unknown high-rankers sliced them in half in the blink of an eye. These unknown high-rankers strolled toward us with infuriated expressions on their faces, and there were three of them.

One of the high-rankers had short, buzz-cut black hair and black skin. He wore a red shirt and black pants, and he stood at a towering 1.90 meters. Tattoos of a tiger adorned his right arm.

The black-skinned guy looked at Dora with intimidation and shouted, "Dora, I finally found you."

The yellow-haired girl replied, "Unfortunately for you, Ugha, you are going to die here."

Suddenly, no more words were exchanged between them. The line on Ugha's body began to emit blue light, and his arms reached out to grab a newly materialized giant black sword out of thin air.

Then I realized, he also possessed one of the rarest foundation archetypes, the Demonic Slayer.

"Go get the other two kids, brothers. I will deal with Dora," the black-skinned guy commanded his men.

The two other high-rankers accompanying him had yellow skin and were dressed in black suits. They both possessed the archetype of an assassin, as they moved with incredible speed towards me and Narathan. Evidently, they wielded dual daggers. Since assassins needed swift movement, carrying a sword would be extremely inefficient due to the weight. Therefore, daggers were an excellent choice for them, which led me to believe they had the archetype of an assassin.

Every archetype could utilize every weapon, but their skills were only available for specific weapons. Therefore, every ranker only focused on the improvement of their main weapon and neglected the use of other weapons.

But for me, as a peasant, I needed to be well-versed in all sorts of weapons. This led me to obtain the exclusive skill from a hidden quest, Pseudo Weapon, that allowed me to craft a weapon out of thin air whenever I wanted.

Well, to be precise, I had only learned the basics of how to handle the weapon, since my archetype wouldn't allow me to obtain a mystical skill that enhanced the ability of my weapon. After all, a peasant was simply a peasant, and there was nothing special about being a peasant.

However, I refused to let that bother me and tried my best to upgrade my archetype until I obtained the exclusive skill, Jack of All Trades, when I was focusing on grinding in the virtual world.

Yet, I still didn't see this skill on the information panel. What if the skill Jack of All Trades isn't usable in reality? I still didn't know the answer to that as well. But if it does work, I hope I can use it soon.
