A New World! Wait... Who Is This Mysterious Girl?!

I drowsily stepped through the portal and found myself in the middle of a beautiful field…

I opened my eyes only to be faced with the bright sun. My body was sprawled out in the middle of a field which spanned who knows how many kilometres.

Ugh… the sun is so bright… did I fall asleep again? I'll never get used to travelling worlds…

I stretched my arms and tried to get up, but my efforts were in vain. I had used up too much energy conjuring the portal that I can't even stand up.

Hmm… what's this citrusy smell? I guess this is one of those weird things you imagine when you use up too much energy travelling through worlds that one of the elder villagers told me about.

"Hello. Do you need any help?" I heard a voice from my side. Despite believing that this voice is just from my imagination, my curiosity got the better of me. I used what little amount of energy I had left to turn my head to see where the voice was coming from. When I turned and saw a young girl. She had soft, fluffy, blonde hair tied into pig tails. Though, the colour of her hair resembled more of the colour of a lemon. She was wearing a simple outfit and had a lemon hairclip pulling one side of her bangs back, making her look quite odd. What puzzled me was her star shaped necklace. I would always researched on different worlds before I visited them and according to the books I've read, this world has no knowledge of astronomy and the sun was always in the sky. The sun was the only star in this world, so it is almost impossible to see during the night. It made me ponder about how she has such a necklace. They also have little to no knowledge of plants and…

"Excuse me miss, are you okay?" the girl bent down and peered at me with her big, round, sky blue eyes. She then started waving her hand in front of my eyes, perhaps trying to make sure that I was awake. I tried to sit up but I couldn't so I just reached my hand out hoping that she would pull me up. She tilted her head in confusion. Then, just a second later a light bulb lit up above her head. It was as if she was a comic character, exaggerating her expressions and gestures. I wondered if everyone in this world is like that, or if she was just an odd girl.

The girl took my arm and pulled me up with all her strength.

"Thank you…" I murmured.

"It's no problem! I'm a strong girl!" she puffed up her chest. Dubious of her words, I decided to just let her bring me to wherever she was going, even if it felt like my arm was gonna break off with my arm around her shoulders. She was just too tall! Nevertheless, she seemed like a truly kind and cheerful girl.

Hi! I wrote this a while back but I never managed to finish writing it! I decided to post it here because 1. I need to stop procrastinating and 2. the prize of the competition is too tempting, particularly the cash. I hope you enjoy this anyway, and if you have any ideas for this story, you can suggest them to me, I'm going for a 'Wandering Witch' vibe for this story, basically a laid back story with some dark moments I guess. This is getting too long so, see ya!
