One week had passed since the draft ceremony.
Despite living in a small wooden room provided by the palace administrator, Von accepted his current state, he is eating three times a day because the palace is giving them free food and clothes. It is a good treatment for those who have been considered failures.
Morning has arrived and the sun is already rising. Von was using all of his time to check out the Palace Library.
He learned that this world seemed pretty underdeveloped. From what he could infer, there didn't seem to be much technological advancement. The only source of transportation appeared to be horse-driven carriages, that varied in size for overland use, and ships with sails for rivers.
Weapons were freely allowed and not regulated unless you were visiting the royal family or church that held the same authority.
Sure, in Von's previous world, Earth, some soldiers, and guards carried advanced weapons, such as guns in malls and banks, they weren't for killing, but to deter crimes from happening.
A similarity that both this world and his previous world shared was the system of monarchy. The Kingdom of Caiden was ruled by a King and the Pope of the Church.
Currently, on his hand was a large handbook titled "History of Dungeons and the magical beast". After reading for a while, suddenly, a colored blue transparent screen appeared.
『Intelligence has increased by 1』
Von had already experienced it the first time he read books in the library. After reading it for a handful of minutes he is expecting a raise in his intelligence.
"Efforts are being paid in full in this world." Von slowly liking this world.
Another reason why Von was reading this book, was because after idling for too long he had realized that he was even more useless than he had imagined himself to be. However, he could utilize knowledge and wisdom to compensate for his lack of strength. Thus, he had decided to utilize all of his time to increase his knowledge.
Von let out a sigh after reading the handbook for quite some time, then he decided to go back to his room to take a nap after a whole day of spending his time in the palace library.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
A woman wearing crimson armor violently knocking the doors of the failure Earthlings. She is the representative of the kingdom to escort the Earthlings. Her name is Viola.
And thus, when Von woke up, only after blinking dazedly three times did he realize where he was and his eyes still half-closed, he whipped his head back and forth to see if there was an emergency.
"What? What's going on? Is this how you wake up your heroes?"
The knight didn't respond and continue to knock violently on every door.
Once all failure Earthlings have gotten to their beds. The knight has finally opened her lips.
"The administrator has finally decided your allocated destination. All of you will be sent to Alexandria, which is the eastern part of the Kingdom. The walls of that city are almost total wrecked after a handful of war against monsters. So we need a lot of laborers.
"So we are now laborers huh?"
After hearing their fate of becoming a laborer, the woman standing right behind Von couldn't hold her tears.
"Huuuhh. Huhuhu"
Von heard a cry and took a glance at where the voice is coming from. Von can't be wrong about the identity of that woman. She is the daughter of the CEO of a famous Insurance company in the Philippines.
Von couldn't imagine what she's been through after living a prestigious life in her previous world and now suffering in this kind of misery.
"Hey what are you crying about?"
The woman just continues to sob.
"What class do you have?"
Von trying hard to lighten the mood. He couldn't just overlook a woman's cry.
The woman is hesitant for a second but decided to spill the response.
"Blacksmith"
"Huh? A blacksmith? As far as I know, blacksmiths are very important to this world. Why would the guilds pass on you? Or unless they already have a good number of it."
That's true that blacksmiths are vital in the Caiden Kingdom. They can craft beast cores, magic stones, and every other kind of metals into magical items and weapons.
The problem is to become a great blacksmith must need a lot of experience and resources too. It is almost impossible to learn blacksmithing by herself. Another thing to consider is her body that he thought couldn't even lift a hammer.
Von shaking his head realizing that he is not the only one being apathetic here.
"How about you what's your class?"
"Farmer"
"A farmer? Like a literal farmer?"
"Yeah"
The woman just laughs like she heard the best joke of her life. She wiped her tears using the collar of her clothes.
Sol just sighed and couldn't feel any worst because someone as pathetic as him is laughing her ass out at him.
"What's your name?" Von just pretended like he didn't know her name.
"I am Elly."
"My name is Von. So lets be friends then."
Both of them gave a warm smile.
All of the earthlings started to readying and picking themselves up.
When they are about to leave the area, the butler has stopped them.
"You should not bring those clothes in your bag with you. Have you forgotten we just lent them to you?"
They didn't complain and do what the butler wants.
Right now, Von and the rest of the so-called failures gathered in front of the palace gate barehanded.
They have thoughts on things that might happen. Going to a district where war is all over that place. They have a heavy heart but what else can they do. They start jumping on the long carriage one by one.
Von chooses to sit in the corner of the carriage. Suddenly, a woman sat beside him whose wearing a smile. It was Elly.

In the headquarter of the Royals guild.
Elliot has arranged his banquet for the newcomers. He couldn't hide his excitement.
Right now, the new members of the Royals guild started their mini-tour to their headquarter. Led by Charles they had moved to a ten-meter long dining table. Several great halls they passed by before also had the same kind of dining tables. This place was just as gorgeous as with the rest, even a rookie could understand; the furniture, the decorative paintings, the murals, and everything here were masterpieces. Just like they expected to be the strongest guild.
Now that some amount of time had passed by, all of the new members, as well as those who have an expired contract had signed a new and renew their contract with the guild. And even though most of them were in the middle of negotiating, a man wearing black armor was sneaking glances at all rookies, and openly staring in their face.
"You know, we have simple rules in this guild. Once you failed to follow our rules, your dead" those words were said in a husky voice.
The place was fell in silence and most members were taken aback.
"Oh come on Vice Leader Ludwick, just let them enjoy their moment." Elliot gave a small smile.
Charles narrowed his eyes and whispered to Lin with a grave voice.
"Hey hey I don't like that man."
"I don't like you too," Ludwick responded while giving an expressionless face.
Charles was in a deep shock and chills went down to his spine when he heard the response of the vice leader. He was 20 meters away from him. It was impossible to hear it from that distance.
"You…. You should learn how things work here. It's different from our previous world. You need to prove your worth. We will be spending our resources on your tutorial. So don't waste any cent of it"
"Oh great? Now you ruined the mood. Thank you Vice Leader" Elliot couldn't help but sigh.

After a half-day of traveling, Von's group have almost arrived at Alexandria District. They are currently descending the mountain on their way. There was a sea of clouds there to greet them. Even if it was very high, they did not feel the effects of the high altitude. They were fascinated with the grand scene of the blue sky, the sparkling sun, and the sea of clouds.
Alexandria is located eastern part of the Kingdom and beside the boundaries of enemies' territory.
Von had imagined a dark gloomy place, but instead, he found something that looked like a paradise.
Von pokes the nose of the woman who was leaning on his shoulder while sleeping silently.
"Hey, we have arrived."
