Chapter (11)

Location: Shenghuo village sat on the Northwest of the capital- Yueliang -near the borders of The Spirit Forest.

A humble cabin was near the cliff where a thin waterfall was streaming down. Folks inferred it seemed as if the cliff was shedding tears.

No house was nearby and no one ever intended to come here, Wang Hua could stay here as long as it remained safe.

Last week, she attained a few hours to sneak out of the Wang manor and head here. To be honest, she had missed her grandmother so much but as it came across the old lady of the manor wasn't keen to meet her elder granddaughter so Wang Hua did not disturb her.

That time, she fetched some rice and dried meat to cook after working on her formulas. Moreover, as Wang Ah Lam suggested, she was enticed to finish them. So some facilities were left there to fill their stomachs.

"Xiaojiao, let's be ambitious and just look for the Moon bird's egg!"

The cub was following her, inside the cabin.

Humph! The cut was agreed upon.

As soon as Wang Hua looked down to see how messy her appearance seemed, she heard a rustling from outside. She hushed Xiaojiao that was already baring her teeth, signaling the danger.

They were being spied on!

She sat and picked the sword from the table, crawling on the floor and hiding behind the wall. Wang Hua half-raised her body, gripping her sword tightly, ducked her head, and peeked out.

A shadow quickly moved to the door and Wang Hua rapidly mimicked the act. She was ready to catch the stranger.

The door slightly moved and Wamg Hua was behind it, joints groaning, a pair of black eyes checked inside and her callused hands brushed inside, and picked up the broom. Her hair was messy and haystacks were dangled in it as if a messy bird nest in winter.

Yaaaa!!!

She roared and raged inside the hut!

As she stormed inside, closed her eyes and opened her mouth wide.

Wang Hua just watched her startled and brought her sword down, slamming the door behind her.

"Yu Jia Yi!"

The name sprouted out of Wang Hua's mouth and Xiaojiao stopped herself from hopping on her and sucking her life essence.

The maiden stiffened for a short while and then prudently spun around.

Her eyes were wide, and her skin pale as if she saw a ghost!

"My Lady!" saying that; huge beads of tears loomed in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks and her grip loosened. The broom fell on the floor making an annoying sound, Xiaojiao dodged not to get stuck and grumbled.

"Yu Jia Yi, what is wrong? What happened to you? Your dress is torn and your face is covered with soot."

She was waiting to hear the answer when the same question was asked by Yu Jia Yi.

"What occurred to you? Your sleeve is gone, you have scratches. I thought they had killed you." Her voice was agonizing and hoarse.

Wang Hua felt the skittering chill stinging her back like a viper. Brushing the despair down, she strode forward and grabbed the girl's arm smoothly, and led her to sit down on a chair.

"Calm down, I survived. I'll tell you everything but before it, you speak." "Why did Wang Xiuying send those men to kill me?"

"I don't know, perhaps she believes we tarnish the name of the Wang Family!"

The girl declared between her sobs...

Tarnishing the family, huh? How dare she draw in to take our lives? I'll make sure she pays for that.

"We? What's it to you?"

"She summoned me to the courtyard and all the servants were there. She asked for you and I said, I don't know, and then she called me a liar and took out her whip to chastise me. After beating me ten times I passed out."

She closed her eyes to take a deep breath.

"She killed my spirit animal!"

Speaking of that, she burst into a loud wailing and Wang Hua could feel her head throb.

How cruel could one be? How could she kill Yu Jia Yi's white dove? The girl was addicted to her bird and could not even stick around without it. It was unimaginable to see she had found this hut all on her own. Her memory for navigating the path was attached to her dove.

To Wang Xiuying, killing the vassal's spirit animal was utterly trivial. Especially if that person was an unfortunate frail slave like this girl.

"Stay here, I'll bring you water."

Yu Jia Yi's lips were colorless and life had approximately drained her visage.

Before she could leave the chair, Yu Jia Yi's muddy fingers dug into her dress.

"Don't leave me, I swear that I'm telling the truth!"

Wang Hua sighed. It was genuine that she could not trust anyone after last night but this girl was different.

Sigh! My sweetheart, I wish I could bring your spirit animal back!

Grabbing her hand, she assured her with a feigned smile, "I won't leave you! Just going to fetch some water."

The girl nodded and let go of her dress.

Wang Hu picked up the jar and went outside, watching how Xiaojiao sat on her back legs in front of her maiden.

The cub was taking pity on her, probably she had sensed her suffering after losing the spirit animal.

"Ah, Mia!" the maiden wailed out loud, tears drenching her face.

Xiaojiao couldn't deny that it scraped a heart severely, she was almost at the death door last night and if it were not for the herb and the spiritual essence the white wolf had given her, she couldn't clasp into life!

That Dove was Xiaojiao's amusement, she couldn't forget the countless times she had tried to catch that bird and failed, they sprinted and frolicked around the Wang manor, heartily.

Bringing water inside the hut, Wang Hua poured them into the wooden bowls. All of them were thirsty.

Taking the bowl, Yu Jia Yi sipped it in one breath.

"How could you reach here without her?"

The girl put the bowl on the table next to her and looked outside through the window.

"Her soul was thinking of me even after she vanished. A small light ball woke me up and I could recognize Mia, she brought me here and disappeared."

"What else happened, how do you know that they were going to kill me?"

"Lady Wang locked me up in the barn assuming that I will die and I can't hear them. She was talking to a man with a half-covered face..."

She gulped and couldn't continue, sniffing.

"Jia Yi, I need your information. If it weren't for the white wolf I would be dead now."

Tears popped out again and Jia Yi tried her best to explain.

"She said you have finished your task and must die now! You are a burden on her shoulders that she can't bear. Then the man took a pouch and checked his gold Taels. He told her that they killed you but they couldn't bring your head because of the wolves' invasion."

She paused and with her crying tone added, "I thought you were eaten by wolves!"

The light in Wang Hua's eyes dimmed, she was starving but lost her appetite after hearing these words. Jia Yi was speaking vaguely and she could not expect more after what occurred to her.

"I finished my task? What did she mean?"

She murmured to herself.
