The Last Transmigrator

Love transmigration? What about fantasy? Characters who range from humans, dwarves, elfs, to gods? A world where everything that’s alive has at least a small speck of magic? “The Last Transmigrator” is a story about a college student who loves to run and read. After his death, he transmigrates to a novel called “The Elven Hero”. He gains a power called ‘anti-magic’, which did not exist in the novel. His main goal is to not get swept away by the story and get killed; however, that proves to be different since he wakes up close to Aekodora – the kingdom which is ruled by “The Elven Hero”s main character – Kyros. ———————— Disclaimer!!! I am a new author and this is my first work ever, so there will be mistakes here and there. I’m writing this story to learn and explore what I like, so feedback is always welcome! :)

Mission Status: Complete

30th of Maious, 1503

Current time: 01:05:31

In the middle of the last warm spring night, Neoma had set out to the town square with Alvis guiding him. All of the servants were sleeping in their respective rooms, only a few guards were walking down the hallways and standing guard outside. The streets of Aekodora were empty with just a few lights lighting up the dark roads. All kinds of festive decorations were already hanging from the roofs of the houses, their colours ranging from white to golden.

Neoma stood in the middle of the town square. He had his brown robe on, the hood completely covering his head and not letting anyone see his face. Only a strand of white hair would sometimes show from time to time as he kept moving around.

"Alvis, where is the nearest teleportation circle set up by the Church of Inferno?"

╭────── • ◆ • ──────╮

Alvis will provide you with a map which has all of the locations marked out!

The map will also show your current location to ensure that the mission goes as smoothly as possible!

╰────── • ◆ • ──────╯

'Good thing it'll show where I am on the map…'

Neoma thought as he recalled all of the times he managed to get lost in his hometown even when he was using a GPS.

The youth looked at the map which soon appeared before his eyes, all of the 15 locations of the Church of Inferno's teleportation circles marked out.

'Let's do this block first.'

Neoma decided as he looked down at the map and a small sigh escaped past his lips.

'It's going to be a long night…'

...

"Gasp… Huff, huff…"

The youth panted as he climbed up on one of the roofs using the vines growing on the side of the house. Once he made it all the way up, had climbed all 4 stories, flopped down on the flat ground and stared up at the sky.

"Didn't… Didn't I have more stamina… huff… before?"

Neoma whispered quietly as he was trying to catch his breath. Unexpectedly, the blue screen appeared right before his eyes again.

╭────── • ◆ • ──────╮

That is completely and undeniably correct!

Since you have acquired new powers, anti-magic, your body is trying its best to get used to it and to adapt!

All of your energy is being used up to control the chaotic anti-magic in you!

Once you will have better control over anti-magic, your energy won't be used up as much to keep the powers suppressed and in a calm state!

╰────── • ◆ • ──────╯

"Ah… Good to know."

Neoma sighed softly after he read the text on the screen. He slowly got up and looked around the roof, a small frown appearing on his face.

'To think that they even set up a teleportation circle on the courthouse.'

He thought as he walked to the middle of the roof, approaching the magic circle drawn on the ground with fire magic. The youth crouched down and extended his hand out, holding it out.

Neoma began to focus his anti-magic towards the teleportation circle and soon black smoke began to cover his fingers. He frowned as he used every single bit of his strength to move the black cloud towards the ground.

The black smoke extended from his fingers and slowly, like thin strands of string, began to float down towards the teleportation circle. Once the black strings touched the circle, it began to turn black and break apart. The fragments of the teleportation circle slowly disappeared as more and more black pieces broke away.

A few seconds later, the magic circle was gone.

Neoma was panting softly yet again as he wiped the sweat off of his forehead.

"This is harder than I thought…"

"Phew… Halfway done now. However, this teleportation circle seems to be inside the house…"

Neoma let out a small sigh as he looked down at his feet. He stood on the rooftop of one of the houses near the town square; however, this was the furthest one compared to the others which had the teleportation circles.

He whined a little as he began to complain inwardly.

'And I climbed up all the way here… Now all of that energy was wasted.'

He continued to complain as he began to climb back down the vines. He didn't notice that one of the rooms downstairs had a light on.

Neoma landed lightly on the ground and saw one of the windows open. He did think it was weird that someone had left it open during the night, but the city of Aekodora was quite safe. The crime rate was extremely low and most people lived in harmony. Well, if no humans visited the capital of the elven kingdom.

The youth walked over to the window and moved the curtain to the side slightly, peeking his head inside. He could see the kitchen sunken in the dark.

'But why would one of the circles be inside…'

Neoma thought as he slowly climbed inside through the open window. He stepped on the wooden flooring, not letting out any sounds. As he began to head down the hallway, he saw a dim light coming out of the living room.

The youth stopped, feeling his heart beginning to race.

'Is there actually someone in this house… Is it the bishops?'

"Have you prepared it?"

"Yes, sir. The mages are ready at any moment."

"How strong is the spell?"

"The entire town square will be reduced to nothing. The lightning spell will completely destroy the town square and the houses of the surrounding neighbourhoods will be turned to rubble."

Neoma's eyes widened as he listened to the conversation of the two men who were sitting in the living room.

'How can this be? It wasn't like this in the story. The attack wasn't that huge even with all of the teleportation circles that they had then. There was no huge spell… Should I tell Kyros? No, no… Let's just focus on the teleportation circles now. I'll think about it later.'

He thought as he continued down the hallway and snuck into one of the bedrooms.

'There it is…'

Just like the other 7 times he had destroyed the teleportation circles, he did so with this one as well. However, unlike the other times, not everything went well.

"Hey?! Is someone there?!"

One of the men from the living room yelled once he noticed something was wrong. He felt something changing. He sensed that the fire magic in one of the bedrooms had weakened.

Neoma's heart began to beat even faster. He didn't wait for anything as he shot up and ran to the window, quickly opening it and jumping out. He didn't look back as he ran through the alleyways.

Neoma smiled as he saw that the mission was completed and he had indeed gotten rid of all the Church of Inferno's teleportation circles. His eyes were full of exhaustion, but he also looked extremely satisfied with his work.

"Finally… It's almost 5 in the morning…"

╭────── • ◆ • ──────╮

Congratulations for completing your first mission ever!

As promised, your rewards are 100 points!

Would you like to invest them into your stat levels?

╰────── • ◆ • ──────╯

"Yes."

Once his status window was opened, he started to consider in which stats he should be investing more.

'Hmm… So it takes ten points to go up one level… Huh? My intelligence level went up by one? I guess I did do some reading during my freetime… Which was all the time.'

After a few minutes of weighing his options, he finally came to a decision.

'7 more levels for speed… and 3 levels for durability. Yes, safety is the most important thing. If I can't run away, I'm dead. But if my durability is high enough, I can handle more hits and attacks.'

Neoma thought as he levelled up his speed and durability stats.

'Perfect.'

╭────── • ◆ • ──────╮

Congratulations!

You reached and even managed to pass the lvl. 10 of the speed stat!

Your speed has received a qualitative change!

You can now run at 50 km/h!

Your durability has increased as well!

You can even now handle being driven over by a royal carriage 3 times!

╰────── • ◆ • ──────╯

"... Isn't that already even faster than the Guinness record for the fastest running speed?"

Neoma mumbled under his breath as he read the text on the screen.

"I guess this is still nothing in this world…"

The youth began to head back towards the royal palace as he thought of everything which he had witnessed today.

'That lighting spell… They really will make it look like the Church of Storms is responsible for it. And such power… They either have extremely strong mages or they have many of them at their disposal.

'Should I tell Kyros and Elin? Maybe everything will be okay since I destroyed all of their teleportation circles. Hopefully that bastard doesn't make more of them.

'And even if they manage to cast such an incredible spell… Everyone here are just characters from a novel…

Right?'
