Chapter 45: Missing the Beer

He had a chiseled body and he looked handsome than he was a week ago. But in this world almost all cultivators were handsome. Most of them had chiseled bodies, the bodies of body path cultivators even more exaggerated. He just shook his head, except for some special cultivation techniques, expelling impurities from the body will make their bodies chiseled. It was as common as having two eyes on Earth. People will only give you a glance if you lost one of them or they were strikingly beautiful. Putting those thoughts inside his mind he jumped onto the pond. The feeling was still the same as when he was a kid. The pond was almost seven meters deep in the center.

There were some different colored lotus flowers. When he swam toward the center the lotus flowers drifted away as if making a way for him. These lotus flowers were rootless, there were some hair-like structures underneath their roots, so even with a slight ripple they would drift away. He frolicked around for a while chasing the spirit fishes who were spitting water droplets towards him. They were mad at him for disturbing them by pushing water with his hand and throwing them towards different directions. Although the water droplets were powerless and could only make someone's clothes wet, the fishes looked like they would devour him whole if given a chance. After having his fun, he went out of the pond and used spirit energy to dry off his underwear. He put on his clothes and went towards the house. He felt refreshed. If only there was beer in this world.

There were some wines and moonshines made by mortals, he hadn't heard of a beer like drink. Since the materials used to make alcohol in this world contained spirit energy, most of the alcohol was medicinal. When Amrit tasted some previously, the taste was alright but there was something that felt like it wasn't a real alcohol. Yes, it was a feeling, people here used the medicinal alcohol for cultivation, not to get drunk. Here getting drunk was just a side effect. And who would use the expensive spirit herbs, process them, prepare alcohol, and store them for years just for the purpose of getting drunk? The cultivators here couldn't afford the luxury. There should be someone who drank alcohol just to get drunk in this world but the improvement in cultivation would take the fun out of drinking. "Oh if only there was some beer here" Amrit mused.

Talking to himself, Amrit reached the door and entered the waiting hall. The room was still empty. "It seems that everyone is busy today, maybe I should prepare a breakfast for everyone," Amrit spoke to himself. "Let's prepare pancakes, a little bacon, an omelet with some spinach, and the spirit tea," he thought out loud. "Hmm, there is no spinach here but there are some vegetables that taste the same." This was the first time he was preparing for breakfast here. He used to make his own food every day on Earth, it wasn't super delicious but it was eatable. He then went into full cook mode, wearing an apron and preparing the ingredients. He was all alone and singing while cooking. After half an hour breakfast for five was ready then he realized he was singing by himself all this time. "How embarrassing," he thought. Thankfully he didn't see anyone in the waiting hall.

He didn't know when the old habits kicked in. He was only making the omelet with spinach, bacon, and pancakes to fulfill his protein, carbs, and fiber requirements. People from this world can get their supplements from spiritual energy. In case of extreme need, herbs were enough. "Well, everything is cooked and smells amazing. This must be due to spiritual energy" he looked at the prepared breakfast and opened the container to store the food. Now he understood why even the mighty cultivators cook food the mundane way, it was simply too relaxing. He then went to the waiting room and sat on the chair. "I hope they will come soon" Amrit wished after sending a 'Breakfast is ready' message in his communication jade. This jade works only a short distance and roughly covers the whole clan. There were long distance communication jades but those were expensive and the clan only had a few of them. Those were to be used only in case of emergencies after all every communication jade had a total capacity to send and receive messages. If one exceeds the number of times one can communicate, it will disintegrate and turn to dust.

There was a communication array engraved on those jade slips and depending on the grade of material and array used it could be used for one-time, one-way, two-way, or short and long distances. With an array master in the clan, short distance communication jade was common. Looking at the jade and hearing no reply, Amrit just sat on the chair. He decided to wait for some time and would go upstairs to cultivate after that. After hearing the news yesterday, he knew that his parents and grandparents were going to be incredibly busy from now on. Having time for breakfast would probably be a luxury for them. So he was not too deeply disappointed. Sitting on the window seat he just looked at outside. The sun was not too hot, well there were temperature regulation arrays but still, looking at the sun, the shine didn't seem too hot.

He just looked at the field and marveled at this never-fading beauty. As he was looking at the field, he saw his father near the door. His father opened the door, looked around, and asked "Where is everyone?" He paused for a moment his face filled with worry. Amrit asked "What happened, father? You looked worried." Punya replied, "Am I late for breakfast?" Amrit thought something had happened after seeing his worried face. Turns out he was worried about missing breakfast. Amrit didn't know whether to cry or laugh. The clan leader of the largest clan in Lunaris city was worried about missing his breakfast. If words got out, the whole clan would be a laughingstock. His father was a good actor; he didn't want to know what the elders were going through in the clan hall meeting.
