Chapter 28

"As you wish, Rory," she said, crooking the violin under her chin.

As she began to play, Rory watched her fingers zoom across the strings and noticed how they corresponded to the dots and squiggles. He noticed that the closer the dots and squiggles came to the surface of the lines, the higher the sound became, like the squeal of a dolphin. Yet if they floated toward the bottom, the sound became deep and heavy, like the call of a whale. And most of all, Rory noticed something very familiar about the dots and squiggles, how they rose and fell in time, reminding him of something seen earlier...

"This is a wave too!" he exclaimed. He began pointing at the paper and laughing. "These dots and squiggles form a wave! Many waves! Your music is describing the ocean!" Rory clapped his hands because he felt so thankful for the instructor.

"Your friend seems very happy with the music," said the instructor.

"He said it describes the ocean," Rani replied.
