The Introverted Witch

A school holiday trip turns bloody when a pack of werewolves attacks and it becomes a problem for Auroras when she's tasked to take care of the students. There is another student that's a vampire but he cannot do it alone. It's more of a problem because she's outed as a witch when no one knew her as one of the supernatural, and because she's an introvert and a wallflower, she is now everyone's favorite person when they didn't bother about her before. On the trip, she encounters Kane, an unwanted and dangerous being who was not supposed to be there. Through the connection, she becomes a chosen one and throughout her trials, she gives in. Away from home and everything she knows, Aurora has to survive on her own. With everything taken from her and the only help she has is from trading with daemons, she has to earn her freedom. Learning new skills on her way, things she's never dreamed were possible a year ago. From a witch who had to hide her power to a powerful sorceress, Aurora is at a loss though. Does she even understand what freedom means to a daemon? Can she fight against those who oppose her and does she even want to? *** Aurora is an introvert. Partly born and party grew more into an introvert as time went on. She is also a witch, which complicates things since witches are social beings. Hence the reason of covens. She wants both but cannot get either. On one hand, she has extra workload and on the other, it seems like the spirits have rejected her and so no coven wants her and that included the coven she was born in.

Chapter 12

Hours earlier...

Aurora was already packed but she couldn't just leave! She will not let a stupid letter scare her and if her thoughts about her parents were true, she has a better chance to find out here. Plus, how was she to just leave? The council requested her and she has a chance to attend a coven but if she leaves, she will never be accepted by any coven under the council's directive. It would be worse because she will be outcast from the witch/warlock community for good, so no, she can't leave her one chance. She's lived a life in the dark, hidden and so afraid and she dreamed about the day she would belong, it seemed so far but now, she's here and her dream of belonging is so close for her to give it up. There was a time she thought that being in a coven will not solve all her problems but with the dark cloud over her head, stating that if she leaves, it would be for good, her heart is having a hard time saying no. Her aunt will understand, she's just panicking like she always does when she cannot help, but Aurora is her own person and she needs to stop going to others when a problem arises. She needs to handle this on her own. Find out who and why this person sent a threatening letter, plus she has friends now, what better bonding period is there than adventurous detective work, together? She sent her aunt a text, not so confident in herself to speak to her aunt about what her decision is. She didn't get a reply but her aunt will see it later and she'll pay her back if she already bought her ticket.

Aurora stayed in her room, going over how she would inform her friends and how to ask for help when there was a knock on the door "Hi..." she frowned in confusion when she saw, not a friend but a guard who nodded at her in greeting

"Miss, the council requests to have an audience with you" he stepped back and made it clear that she was to follow him so she locked up, her heart beating, wondering why? Maybe they have good news about placing her in a coven. Despite the fact that they requested her to this event, they did not request to see her before or met her at the party so this would be the first time she's meeting them. She feels so underdressed in her Jeans and flowy top and sandals. She should be dressed in formal attire to meet the council but they didn't inform her beforehand and nor did the guard imply that she needs to change.

Aurora was escorted to her room but she saw nor heard her surroundings, all she heard was what was spoken in the council's chamber over and over 'We are terribly sorry for we bring sad news of your aunt, she has been in an accident and died on impact. The council has been charged with the responsibility of arranging the funeral and of being your temporary guardians' her aunt was organizing her travel arrangements, she should have phoned instead of left a message but she would not have had to leave to arrange transportation so where was she going? She didn't tell her that she had plans. What if she did get my message and she was coming to me? That sounds more reasonable. She laid her head down and allowed her tears to fall, to stop the burning, both in her chest and eyes. She was shaking and sobbing non-stop when her door opened but she didn't have the energy to look up. Whoever it was just stood over her then touched her arm and she felt power flow from him to her and then she blacked out.

When she woke, she noticed that she was not in her room but it seemed equally pleasant and plain "Aurora... My sympathies to you but I brought you here to fulfill your destiny" Aurora didn't say a word as he explained what her destiny detained but she wanted to scream! She had the urge to jump him and fight him till he let her go. She tuned him out when she could, only hearing but not listening, she was numb from the news of her aunt, but she knew once she feels again, she'll run away from her responsibility. She's not good at it, it always curdles like milk.

It seems like a good idea to drink her problems away, at least until she has to get up from bed. She had no strength or motivation to get up. It felt like she couldn't move on anymore. She gave it her all but the world just kept on punishing her, for what, she has no idea but she's so tired of it all. What does she offer the world anyway? She's a nobody in a world that needs stars... She felt each step she took, made her proud and motivated, until she looked around her and saw that everyone has passed her by, they all moving through escalators. There's always a shadow following everyone but why is it, hers are so profound. What's the use of trying to go on when there's nothing left for her? She has no one and nothing to strive for. Aurora was so lost in her thoughts, she forgot she was not alone, but he should not have stayed. She's dealing with her own shit to add to his, why won't he leave her alone? She looks at the noise and sees him... But it's not him. "What are you doing in my room?" gosh, even her voice is dull and emotionless. She looked into his beautiful eyes and didn't feel anything but she sees another pair of eyes that did pull her heartstrings and it felt so strange because she was numbed at the same time and a part of her regrets rejecting him yesterday. It would be all her fault if she never sees him again but yesterday was mostly a blur, all she knows was the last look she got from him, an angry and frustrated look before he walked out of her life, not that he was ever in it.

"I missed you at breakfast so I thought I better check on you" he gave her a breathtaking smile but all she did was turn around

"Please leave" She wanted to wallow in pity some more.

"I'm sorry but I can see you dealing with something so as your friend, I'm obviously not leaving" she breathed out and closed her eyes in frustration. She thought of what to say to get him away.

"We are not friends, I don't have friends, just the way I like it. I'm just nice to everyone so I could get a chance to belong to a coven when this is all over. But it does not matter anymore so just leave!" she relaxed when she heard the door bang but a part of her deflated in disappointment and regret but it was overpowered by the numbing.
