Might of the Ink Army

Chapter 18 – Might of the Ink Army

The soldiers were running with all their might. Every now and then, the Tier 2 combatants would look backward to check the situation.

Suddenly, the one in charge of checking the situation halted his steps.

"Hey Mex! Why did you stop?" One of the soldiers shouted as they ran passed the stunned Mex.

Curious, the other soldiers also turned around. However, the instant they did so, the same stunned expression appeared on their faces.

"Whoosh!"

Their hair and clothes rustled.

"Wh- What is that?" One of the soldiers muttered in disbelief.

A distance away from them stood a towering black figure. One of its arms was broken. However, the shocking thing was that in front of that towering figure was the headless giant golem; with one of its arms missing.

The black figure raised its arm again. It sent out a punch towards the immobilized giant golem. With a boom, a part of the giant golem's body was pulverized, some turned into debris that flew all around.

"Swoosh... "The shockwave made their hairs crazily fluttered about.

The soldiers were stupefied. To think that the monster that easily defeated their commander would turn into a punching bag, unable to fight back as it was destroyed into bits of pieces.

"Wait! That's Saline and the commander!" One of the soldiers muttered. They saw the towering figure bent down and picked two people.

Black light wrapped around the two as the towering figure threw them a certain hill.

"Hurry! We must save the commander!" someone shouted. The direction of the hill was just ahead of them, about half a kilometer away.

"Haha, it's about time to act again huh." Jhin murmured. Just a few meters away from him lay two gorgeous figures: both unconscious and disheveled. He shifted his gaze and saw the hundreds of wounded soldiers running towards his direction.

"Hmm… I guess sleeping on a thigh sounds fun." He said before commanding the ink soldier carrying him to put him on the ground next to Saline and Crystal. Afterwards, he commanded the ink soldiers to return to his wrist.

Finding a nice position, Jhin lay on Saline's thigh. Then his focused returned to the battlefield.

Sharing the vision of the giant ink soldier, Jhin started his commands. "Split up!"

And that's how Jhin started his very first battle. The one and only commander who lays on a beauty's lap as he commanded his troops.

"Hmph!" The black cat sitting atop the boulder snorted before resuming its gaze into the battlefield.

With a loud explosion, the towering black figure burst into pieces. However, instead of falling into the ground, these pieces rushed towards the legion of moonlight golems.

"Bam! Bam!"

Explosion continuously rang all over the place. A part of the horde of golems was cleared and were replaced by hundreds of black figures. With the rays from the fading sun, their tall and masculine bodies shimmered with radiance as they stood with their arms forming a punching stance.

Boom!

Like a blur, their punches hit the target closest to them. Bursting it into pieces; leaving behind a gem-like core on its place.

The retreating soldiers stared at the scene with mouth agape. They couldn't believe their eyes. To think that the monsters they bombarded with countless attacks and spells yet didn't fall would turn into debris with a single punch.

"System? How come my soldiers have a powerful bursting power?" Jhin wondered. According to the system, the summons on the battlefield were all Tier 1 in level. Yet, every time an ink soldier punched, the golem it hit would instantly burst into pieces. The power these ink soldiers exhibit vastly outmatched the ink soldiers he summoned when he was being chased by the spiders. It made him puzzled, both summonses were obviously Tier 1 yet the summons fighting the golems were so overpowered.

If such summon was present when he was being chased by the spiders in the tunnel, he wouldn't have to fear them. Summoning one or two would've annihilated the enemies.

[Under the influence of the Power Tutorial, all the attributes of the summons were maxed accordingly to their tiers.] A notification appeared in front of him.

"Eh? You mean to say, that the Tier 1 ink soldiers I've summoned on the tunnel could still improve their strength?" Jhin was surprised. He originally thought that the strength of the summon was constant.

[The strength of the summon is directly linked to the host's capabilities. If the host reached Tier 2, then all the Tier 1 summons would have max stats. However, as the host isn't even a Tier 1, the strength of the ink soldiers was limited to that of the weakest Tier 1. Meaning, the host mustn't slack off and should also train yourself. The skill you learn, your summons will also possess them.]

Jhin read the notification in astonishment. He couldn't help but stared at his summons on the battlefield who were clumsily punching the enemy golems. Some would even occasionally slip into the ground while kicking.

"No wonder it failed. Haha" Jhin mocked himself. Earlier, he tried redirecting the soldiers into a formation he saw in the Epic of the Generals. However, the ink soldiers' formation just turned chaotic.

"It seems that I have lots of things to know. Fortunately, I have a servant commander." He sighed as he shifted his gaze to the unconscious Crystal.

If he himself didn't know the underlying principle behind the formations, how could his summon execute it. Therefore, if he wanted to use any formation, he must at least know how it works.

Jhin returned his attention to the battlefield below. Currently, his ink soldiers were surrounded by the legion of moonlight golems. From his estimate, there were at least five to six thousand golems fighting his one-thousand army.

"Alas! If only their punches were refined. They might've stood a chance of defeating the golems." Jhin sighed to himself.

To defeat a golem, the ink soldier had to punch twice or thrice. The golems' abnormal regenerative ability allows it to continuously reform itself. Unless you burst it into pieces and crushed its core, it wouldn't die.

Fortunately, Jhin's ink soldiers were also capable of regeneration. Every time it got wounded, a black gaseous substance would envelop the injured area. A moment later, the wound would heal.

Even so, his ink soldiers weren't a match to the legion of moonlight golems. His army was vastly outnumbered while the golems possessed an attack comparable to that of peak Tier 1 in power.

"Sighs~ If only I know some skills."
