Chapter 36 – Acting Like an Expert

Jhin's muttering echoed in the minds of the soldiers. They blankly stared at Jhin, unable to process what they just heard.

Although his voice was almost inaudible, the enhanced hearing of these Tier 1 Soldiers heard him clearly.

In fact, Saline doesn't need to amplify her voice at all, and they would still hear her. But, as she was irritated, she amplified it to express her anger.

The soldiers stared at Jhin as though he was a dead man! Who on their right man would have the guts to criticize a Tier 2 combatant, while only a Tier 0 or simply a mortal?

Their gazes couldn't help but alternate between Jhin and their captain. They could see her aura changing! From her fierce and fiery temper, her aura converged! Like a calm sea, but they know that hidden behind that calm was a volcano threatening to erupt!

And true to that, Saline started walking towards Jhin. When she arrived next to Jhin, she grabbed his neck!

"Who do you think you are to insult me?" she said. Her icy voice penetrating Jhin's ears. "Do you know the hardships I had to go through to reach this level?"

"I don't, but I do know that your teaching method won't work if you want them to master archery within a week." Despite his heart beating fast due to nervousness, Jhin still looked at her straight in the eyes.

"Is that so?" A frosty expression emerged from Saline's face, she said, "I'll let you teach them then. If I can't see any result within an hour, you'll pay with your head!"

She was so angry! An individual who wasn't even a Tier 1 combatant had criticized her teaching. She wanted to kill the man! However, when she realized that it was the merchant from the shrine, she calmed down a little.

The man has unknown origin. Moreover, the man seems to have connection with her Commander Crystal. She couldn't kill him without proper reason.

Jhin nodded, "I know that you're an excellent archer. But being excellent and teaching are two different things."

Saline knitted her brows, her lips curves into a sneer, "Are you saying that you can teach them better than me?"

"Yep." Jhin earnestly nodded his head. He commented, "The way you teach is pure rubbish!"

After assimilating the knowledge of the battle scroll about archery, Jhin could be said to have already mastered the basics. Although, it was all in theory, he was confident that he could teach the soldiers much better than Saline.

"You…!" Saline felt her hair standing in rage. She couldn't believe it! A mere mortal had mercilessly criticized her. Not just once, but twice!

Veins popped out from her forehead. With an icy gaze, she spat, "If you couldn't teach them! You better prepare your head."

She let go of Jhin before turning around. But, she barely took a few steps when a voice sounded behind her, "Where are you going? Help me teach them. I don't know how to amplify my voice. You use your voice while I say the command."

"Are you kidding me?" Saline retorted. "Do you think I won't really kill you?"

"I'm not! I'm only a mortal you know." Jhin replied.

Taking a deep breath, Saline controlled her temper. In the end, she nodded her head. She decided to take the chance to rest. The act of teaching the soldiers exhausted her. Not only physically, but mentally as well.

Jhin wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled. "First, tell them to put their bows in the ground."

"Hmm." She did as Jhin says, "Maintain a neat formation and put your arrows on the ground."

The soldiers were stunned for a moment but still followed her command. They could feel the suppressed anger hidden within her voice.

"Now, tell them to stare at their bows for five minutes." Jhin said.

"Okay, what's next?"

"Tell them, 'Closely stare at the structure of the bow and reflect! How you held the bow, how you nocked the arrow, the angle of the shoot."

"After two minutes, tell them to take an arrow from their quiver, and make them observe the arrow."

"After a minute, tell them to recall the angle of their hands when they took the arrow from the quiver."

Five minutes passed in the blinked of an eye. The soldiers followed Saline's order.

Meanwhile, the spectating archer combatants were silently contemplating. Their eyes brightening with each second.

"Command them to stand. Afterwards, make them execute the shooting stance. But instead of shooting, let them stay stationary."

Saline's anger had long disappeared, she couldn't help but ponder about the man's words. Although simple, the meaning behind each command was deep and profound.

The soldiers stood up and assumed a shooting stance. They loaded the arrow to their bows but didn't shoot.

"Tell them to draw the bow to their limits. Then, make it aimed at their front foot. Anyone who let go would be expelled from the army."

"Make them stay like that until I say so."

"Hmm… Let's make a story." Jhin pursed his lips. "Follow each of my words."

"The beast stampede will be composed of wolf-type beast. These beasts were known for their ferocious nature. The moment they bit into the flesh of you kin, for certain, your kin would be dismembered into pieces and will be eaten in the most gruesome way.

Your comrades and brothers will become their food. However! These beasts were not impervious of arrows! Killing them with arrows is easier. But! Only if you can hit them. They were agile creatures after all."

Jhin said while Saline copied his words.

"Treat your foot as your kin and comrades. If you don't want them to get hurt, you must master your bows and arrows! Closely feel the bow! The string and its connection to the arrow."

About five minutes passed.

"Now! Raise your bows! Aimed at the boulders! Treat these boulders as the beasts that will harm your families.

"Imagine the scene of them eating your child! Your wives! Your husband! Now, Shoot!"
