THE INEVITABLE HIM

A one night stand with a White waitress in a club was all it took to make him. He had no father but an owner he had. He owned him..turned him into the demon he is now. At the age of eight, he killed the humanity and love he had. "To make you strange and a worthy successor. I don't need any weakling." Akim always roared at him. The day he died the Devil got a free ticket to leave South Africa for good. Revenge from their rival Mafia gang was not in his plans. He wouldn't shed the blood of his people. He needed the for something better. To build a legitimate global empire. He worked his ass of to be a better version than Akim had in mind. He would own it all, by any means necessary. The world wasn't fair so don't blame him if he stumbled on you in the course of fulfilling his plans. You needed to keep up to be able to work for or with him. He had a family, though not perfect, the gang always had his back and so did he. At the age of twenty -six, Lucifer as he was popularly known by his close men was the most eligible bachelor, and the youngest richest business man in the country and beyond. He said it and he did it yet, there was always something else to do. Something better. He might be crazy for wanting to conquer the world, but that was his plan. Lucifer was never the type to run, he never backed down....and though a tiny part of him wanted to, he couldn't. His demons were part of him. He was his own devil. The part of him which thrilled at the site of violence and smiled at the pains and fear in the eyes of others strived and dominated his soul. He wanted out but who was he kidding, his demons were his source of power. Power, which sucks humanity out of him. Lucifer had made his name in the Europeans countries, but he felt that there would be much profit and a fulfilling tap into the culture of Africa which would in no doubt be a jackpot for him. He was a business man and so knew his fact. Africa....he dreaded and loved. He was sure of his target..where else but Ghana..a foreign environment. He was yet to find out that Ghana would give him the encounter of his life.... Kara, popularly called Nana is the "unwanted" bastard of the Agyemang family. Her mother Esther got pregnant with her white boyfriend during her college years overseas. Her mother came home with a baggage instead of the promised degrees. Being the daughter of a strict African home, ones thought would be to disappear for good and bear the shame alone. The family frowned upon her actions, turned their backs on her and was disowned by her father. Single handedly, with help from her uncle, her mother raised her to become a typical Ghanaian child. Even with her fair skin and brunette hair...she was in no doubt a Ghanaian by actions. Many often got confused yet her calm nature and respect for every custom of the society irrespective of it's flaws made her Ghanaian. Kara lived her life like a story being told. She drew her plans from the moment Uncle Kwesi sat her down and told her of the story behind her birth and why she didn't have a father or a large family. She knew who her father was. At least she had a picture of him, a picture shut away. She was satisfied with having her mom and uncle in her life. They enough for her, she convinced herself. Nana's greatest fear is repeating her mother's mistake...Don't get her wrong, she respected her mom immensely, she was by far the strongest woman she had ever know. That didn't change the fact that she would like to write some of her wrongs. Nor did it change the feeling which ate her up all the time...She was an accident and that was something that even she couldn't make right. Being the child of a single mother in a Ghanaian society, there was a lot to do and not do. No matter the amount of wealth, the society would always see you as the daughter of the unmarried woman and hence, you are required to put in much effort to everything you do. Kara wanted her mom to know n feel that her birth was her biggest achievement

CHAPTER 5: The Glance 2

Kara checked her cute brown leather wrist watch. It was already 11:20pm. She was doing great. No complaints and enough tips. She was blessed. She mentally noted herself to thank God for the tips before sleeping. She went to take a customer's order from Josh, the assistant chef. They were age mates but he was already a chef. Well, he was doing great being a chef being a chef instead of reading a whole lot of books. He was a natural with his cooking. "Somebody is have a great day". He smiled with so much energy. Kara took the order from him and and replied. " I thought someone would be tired by now". Sometimes she couldn't even hear herself when she spoke. Was she the same girl. Three years in the US and she already sounded in fact spoke  like she had lived there all her life. She shook her head and head to the table of the you g couple with their kid who had probably turned four. That should be the reason why they ordered for a cake with a bold "4 years" candle."Please "your order" will be ready in ten minutes ". She smiled at the couple who in turned smiled back at her. Thankful that she didn't expose their plan to surprise their daughter with her favorite cake. " Thank you". The gentleman said. Kara turned to leave but paused to check on the sulking child who began crying. Her parents were having a hard time pacifying her. Some of the customers showed annoyance. Kara rushes and squatted beside her. " Get Sara, do you know something. All beautiful birthday girls cry okay, that's totally okay". She tried to sooth her. She knew that the child was confused with what she was saying. She put on a confused face and her cry began subsiding. Kara continued. " Yes. It makes them really, really beautiful. Did I forget to say that it's only when they cry tears of joy?" Sara shook her head and uttered a muffled " No". "Well, good that I have told right. That cry tears of joy when they get a huge ice cream. But they become ugly when they cry because they are angry. Now you don't want to be angry right? You are too pretty to be angry right". Sara nodded and said " I'm too pretty ". Good....of course you are". Kara seconded. The couple were glad and amazed at how easily she calmed their daughter. Even more amazed of how she got to know her name. The restaurant had become peaceful again. " Okay, now that our princess has stop crying, her loyal servant will bring her magic cream. Will be right back". She smiled and left the cheery girl who was clapping her hand and smiling at her parents. "Josh, ice cream". Kara requested. Josh starred at her confused. " You want ice cream?" He repeated to which she nodded. " It's for a kid friend. It's her birthday. Make it great. Two minutes " She ordered. Josh smiled. "I love it when you start bossing me around. Hold on....Kara don't tell me that you are paying". Kara gave a stern face. "Don't tell me you are gonna talk to me instead of going to make it". Josh disappeared to the kitchen. Few minutes later, he brought out her order. She smiled and thanked her friend. Kara went and gave the " mountain " to Sara and whispered to her which made Sara burst out with laughter." Thank you so much". The lady said with so much gratitude. The man pulled a $50 dollars from his wallet to give to her. Kara declined by gently pushing it back to him. She burnt to the height of Sara who sat in her seat already enjoying her ice cream. She giggled at her. "It's on me. It's Sara's birthday after all. Please allow me to gift her. Thank you".

She smiled and left the table. A hand, large, masculine called her to come to the table. A table of four men. " Duty call" she mumbled to herself and walked to the table with a smile." How can I be of service gentlemen? " She politely inquired, ready to take their orders. The man gestured for her to lean in to hear his order. Kara was a little confused, however, she complied. She realised that the other men were passing lustful eyes at her. She could tell they were undressing her with their eyes. She decided to overtook it, take their order and leave without causing any problem. "Yes sir,..how.." Kara went still. She couldn't even recall what she planned on saying. She felt intruded. She had never felt that way before and she was getting irked. The zip of her blouse flipped open exposing her cleavage. The man gave a lustful smile at Kara with his grip still on her zip. "What else will be on you tonight. I don't want an ice cream though. I want you". Kara was totally shocked but recovered quickly from and gently held the hand of the audacious man. " Sir, fortunately I am not edible. I am not food so if you could please make your your order I would be much grateful". She forces a smile looking around to check if she was creating a scene. Another touched her hips and winked at her. The other two smiled as they gulped down the wine. Kara gave a stern look. She felt a hard grip on her right hand. She felt stranded. " Why don't we get out of here baby girl?" She had lots and lots of patient but there was a limit to everything. An intended squeeze of her buttocks was all it too for her to ho crazy. Using her left hand which was free from any grip, she smacked the man who dare to press her butt on the face. The slap so hard and strong it echoed in the restaurant sending the tipsy man to land on his butt on the mirror ruled floor. The grip oh her right hand tighten as the man stood to up openly to assault Kara. But she knew how to take care of herself. She slapped him so hard with the back of her free hand he lost his balance and loosened his grip on her hand. She set herself free. Again, the restaurant witnessed another drama. All the four tipsy men stood up, giving a stern dangerous look to a furious Kara. She was boiling inside.

Lucifer tapped his plate with his cutlery to get Nelly's attention. Where the hell was her attention. Or rather, who had gotten her attention. Nelly was the chief chef  at REFICUL CUISINES. One of the most expensive world recognized restaurants in Boston. Two weeks ago, they were still holding their position as the best restaurant. The number one of the top ten restaurants in the State. Currently, their biggest competitor, Rienners has taken over. He knew the competency of his staff. So what was he missing. His research directed him to the latest recipe of the Rienners. Surely his restaurant could do better. To take a step in solving this problem, he decided to have dinner with chef Nelly. She needed to find a solution, that too real quick. They'd were have their new additional meal for dinner. He made sure to book a table in a corner where they would be unnoticed but nothing would go unnoticed by them. He would mentally take notes of whatever he wasn't providing to his customers. He needed a solution, but there he was with his staff who's attention was drawn to something else. Something unreal, not impossible but ...unbelievable. Surely he was not daydreaming. He wasn't relieving a memory from three years ago. She was still the same. Her striking lips which he had yearned, desired since that day got his attention. They didn't look so wet and tender this time, rather, they looked tight, thin. His eyes roamed and travel to her eyes. Those once scared eyes bunt with fury. He smiled to himself. He somehow like the anger of a once "scared washroom kid". His lips turned into a frown. He had seen something he didn't like.....
