22: Robert Vagabond

While Robert and Sam were making decisions regarding Knave's future, the person who the talk was about was lying in the bed thinking about how all his plan has come to fruition, the days that he was with Rick he had started to gather information about Robert's life.

After going through a lot of hard work of keeping it look like he was asking about something else while getting what he wanted to learn, when Rick was gone he started talking to the people in the mansion as well as Lark from the library.

After having a complete picture he got the whole family story of Robert Vagabond, he was the first person to come from outside the town and became a mayor.

He was actually from a different Island but nobody remembered which Island he came from, as his personality was relatively straightforward he fit in this small town very easily.

Later he fell in love with the girl named Jesse whose father was a farmer, they had a happy life together till Robert had his son Matthew. Jesse died after giving birth to Matthew because of problems faced during delivery and as such Robert was only left with his son Matthew.

Robert was crushed after his wife's death but he had to still live and stay happy for his son, so that he would not miss his mother and have a sad life.

From that day onwards Robert changed as an easy-going man to a hard-working businessman, he tolled for 20 years till his business was big enough to even shake the city's on the island, by then Matthew had grown up to become a good man in both life and business.

Matthew had married his childhood sweetheart Christine and had his daughter in two years after the marriage, Vanessa.

The Vagabond family was having a happy life with good wealth, health and because of their kind nature, they did not have any enemies.

But as after every summer, there will be winter similarly after happiness comes crises, when Vanessa was 8 years old, Matthew had to go to an adjacent island for business trip and by chance, Christine's relatives lived there as well, so they both went to the trip together but they never came back.

It was later found out that it was the demonic beast tide that had taken place which happens every decade in which their ship had been swallowed by the tide and not one person could be saved.

After that incident, Robert was crushed but he still had to stay strong and take care of Vanessa. Vanessa was deeply impacted by her parent's death and she had even fainted because of it, it had taken Robert quite a while before she could come out of depression and continue with her life.

At the age of 10, Vanessa awakened her talent for cultivation and Robert had sold his business so that he could get an entry for her. Fortunately, her talent was good and she got accepted in the academy and the money was not wasted.

After learning about Roberts past Knave was easily able to understand the man thoroughly and thus knew how to go about his plan of using Robert.

Robert who had seen the death of his loved ones, one after the other would always only have one worry in his mind at this age, a question which will keep him up even in the dark of the night, " Who will take care of Vanessa?" even though Vanessa was a cultivator she was still a human and a woman and thus like any other grandpa Robert is always worried about her future.

Robert would have contacted his family if he had any by now after Matthew's death, but he didn't and after Vanessa became a cultivator she almost became an entity that could not be understood by them.

So his plan of finding a good heir to look after her also went into the drain, so what would he do if he found a person he could believe in, a person who he knew, and a person who could become a cultivator.

Of course, he would take him in so that he could give all his worries and responsibilities to him and Knave just turned out to be the kind of person he was looking for.
