4.A Son

"You should have asked her more about the child, like why he is still asleep." said Alpha Raven to onyx who was checking on Killian.

" there was no need. she had already gone to see him before we came to her, if there was anything wrong with him she would not die so calmly. "

At her words, the Alpha could only sigh. He still couldn't believe his sister has adopted a human child. He looked at her trying to figure out why she would do such a thing.

" if you have something to say, just say it. "

'you are being weird just looking at me like that.' she thought.

"why?"

"why what?" she asked back.

"why did you take him in, it's not like you to do things without a reason."

Onyx turned to face her brother, looked him in the eye and replied.

" I had a vision of him when we came in to see her, precisely when she was hitting her head on the floor. It was short and alot blurry but the him in the vision was not ordinary or human." the last part made an odd light flash in the Alpha eyes.

"If he isn't human then what is he?" onyx turned back to what she was doing but giving what her brother asked a thought.

"I don't know what he is but he is not an enemy and maybe our hope one day, so we must keep him safe."

Alpha Raven did not know what to make of his sisters words but her words had never been wrong before so he chose to believe her. It seems this child being here may be fate.

" when will he wake up? " he asked suddenly.

" should be in a few more days." onyx replied puzzled by the way his tone sounded, it had a bit of care in it.

"What? Did I grow two heads?"

'what the heck is she thinking about looking at me like that.'

" I am going to make arrangements for the burial of the woman and also a room for the boy" he turned to go but looked back only to meet his sisters dumbfounded face which caused him to stop and explain.

"Am only doing this because you said he was the hope of the pack' OK?" holding back a laugh, onyx could only nod in agreement.

'is it so hard to admit that you care about the child? Wolves are so cute.'

A week later Killian woke up and two days after that he was part of the burial of his guardian Haru. Onyx did not want him to miss the last parting with her, which is why she waited until he woke up to have her buried. The ritual was simply and short because Killian had not recovered completely yet so he couldn't be too emotional.

'Back at the pack house'

Onyx looked at the poor, sad child hiding in his bed with a sad heart. He was too young to go through such pain. She laid by his trying to comfort him with her presence.

"You are not alone Killian. Am going to be with you from now and try to be as good to you as any mother would be so please give me a chance." the bundle on the bed moved a little.

"You are not my mother." came a raspy and childish voice.

"I know am not trying to replace her, I only want to be a protector and friend like Haru was to you." onyx said as she moved the silently sobbing bundle into her arms.

"You don't have to call me mother if you don't want to, I only need you to know that I will be there for from now on." she kissed his head through the blanket try to comfort the crying child.

"Don't leave me. Please." Onyx's heart hurt as she heard the child's ply.

"Don't worry, I will always be here with you." Although anything could happen in the future and they couldn't always be avoided, what the child needed right now was comfort not the truth.
