A New Role (2)

That night Malcom was sitting on his balcony while looking at the streets or the sky. He was looking at them with a complicated gaze. It was as if they had a new meaning.

His mind was a mess, as he knew that somewhere in that city, a man was holding Nora captive, doing who-knows-what.

Guilt and frustration flooded their minds but nothing as deep as the hatred that this horrible nation generated over him.

They, who had decided from the beginning to make them lesser citizens. It was they who filled their heads with lies about glory and heroism but wrapped their lives in a veil of lack and rejection.

They were exactly the same people who today, three thousand years after the greatest threats of society were captured, used the name of these creatures to destroy the lives of a few. How not to hate that nation?

This was fundamentally their fault, and once he had rescued Nora, Malcom would not rest until these people saw his true colors.

The torrent of anger through which his thoughts raced was interrupted by a voice behind him.

"I heard you were about to die."

Malcom looked up out of his trance and looked directly at Violet.

The young woman's eyes showed the marks of tears that surrounded the corners of her eyes, the sadness was palpable on the young lady's face. As she faked a smile she said, "I'm very glad you're…"

But she could not finish the sentence, as she felt a lump on her throat, making her unable to speak further.

Malcom quickly got up and hugged the young woman placing her head at the height of his chest, she lost herself in the hug, and her tears began to flow.

He did everything he could to comfort her, but the young woman was devastated.

Fear, frustration, and helplessness were the feelings that marked Malcolm's clothes in the form of tears.

The young woman managed to hold her sobs, "Why does this have to happen to us?" She asked as if she sounded lost.

Malcom placed his chin on the girl's head and said, "I don't know, Vi. But I promise you something. All those responsible for this are going to pay for what they did!"

Saying those words, he remembered Skyler's request, and a long sigh stole some of his anger.

The confusion came to his mind. Is it a place as bad as its people, or can you judge a city by the person who makes you remember it?

That thought flooded Malcolm's mind. He never imagined that later he would learn that there were more things that managed to escape his sight.

Nora woke up from her long slumber, she could not speak, and her body was suspended in the air.

She did not understand what was happening while another of her colleagues from the pop group cried next to her.

They were both terrified of what could happen, but Nora tried to maintain her composure and realized that someone was in front of her.

In front of them, a man ate calmly, his jaws ripping the food with exaggerated movements as he smiled after each bite.

It was as if he was eating his favorite meal after a very long time, and Nora felt chills by just watching the man eat.

Nora tried to activate her abilities. But she was not very strong, and she was not used to using her magic, but she tried anyway to find out that she had an inhibitor collar.

The technology they used to keep dangerous mages in prison would prevent her from even using her power.

She was frustrated and scared, and at that moment, Nora felt another person was looking in her direction while approaching.

The dark did not allow the other man's face to be seen clearly.

"At last, you arrive. Your gifts are ready!" Suddenly the man who was eating earlier said brightly. His voice was muffled as he did not stop chewing his food.

The person he was talking to approached slowly. His steps were not loud but enough to ring into Nora's entire being.

When he was close enough, he touched the bubble where Nora was being held captive, which also kept her suspended in the air. The young woman's eyes met his.

"Was it difficult?" The man who was looking at her asked.

Nora could not help but look at the man with fright. He had a huge white cassock with a necklace with the Mark of the church of the four.

By just seeing that, Nora felt deep fear. The man looked at her with powerful blue eyes that highlighted the darkness of the place where they were.

Her initial captor got up putting his food aside, and said calmly, "It was fun!" Saying that, he spat on the floor to add, "But now they will be waiting for the next move."

The other man smiled at that possibility of putting his hand in the bubble that kept Nora floating. He then touched the girl's Mark that was in sight.

Nora felt a strange repulsion, but she could not move. She could not even speak. Her tears rolled down her cheeks.

The man with blue eyes looked at her crying face emotionlessly. He then said dryly, "You did a great job. I want you to be part of the organization."

The eating guy stepped out of the darkness, and the dim light illuminated his eyes. He had a completely black eye socket as his right eye looked at the newcomer and said, "The money. That's enough. As long as you pay, I will gladly continue to do jobs for you!"

The man with the blue eyes nodded and then said, "Release the spell. I'll take them both at once!"

But in that instant, the dark jester said, "How do I know you can control them?"

His question made no sense, it was nothing more than a provocation to evaluate the reaction of his guest, but at that moment, the man with the blue eyes smiled.

The jester felt his presence, but before he could get into the den, everything was useless.

The bubbles where the girls were disappeared, and his completely black eye cleared.

With all calm, the man with the blue eyes walked calmly to the jester, who was still surprised.

The jester looked in all directions trying to understand what had happened, when the man in front of him said, "It is wonderful news that you want to be on our team!"

The jester smiled, but this was nothing more than a habit to hide the fear that the look of the man who was shorter than him caused him.

Calmly nodding, he agreed while that man looking at the two girls smiled and said, "You two will come with me to a better place."

Nora saw him smile, and at that moment, everything around her turned black.

Her mind dreamed for hours, but the image that was constant was Malcolm's face. She hoped that he would rescue her.

Despite all the fear she felt, despite the frustration and despair.

She knew that Malcolm would undoubtedly be coming for her in no time.
