"How is she?" Whitney asked as she sat across Jonas. Her voice laced with concern.
"She's still in coma." Jonas answered without much emotion on his voice.
"What a poor girl. How could she ran away just like that?" Whitney commented as she began to peel the apples slowly.
"Yeah. I wondered too. Anyway, the police are trying their best to find the culprit." Jonas said as his fingers danced across the keyboard of his laptop.
"Jonas, why don't you rest. I will look after Louise for you. You need rest." Whitney pushed the small plate containing the peeled and sliced apples to him.
Jonas paused but he didn't look at her. He continued to be busy in front of her.
"I will rest after this. It's an important collaboration with our companies so I need to work hard." Jonas said lightly.
Whitney smiled.
This man is really capable.
"Okay if that's what you think but rest if you need to. I don't want to see you working so hard." Whitney said as she wanted to grab his hands and hold it but Jonas was busy typing so she got a stick for the apples. She stabbed it lightly.
"I know." He said but dropped the topic after.
"Dorothy just won an award for violin." She lightly bragged.
"Wow. Congratulations Dorothy. You make your mother so proud of you." He said albeit perfunctorily.
"That's a given. I worked so hard for her and she also knows it." She smiled as Whitney looked at her daughter thoughtfully.
"I will always make Mom proud Uncle." Dorothy walked towards the sofa and sat beside Whitney.
The mother and daughter displayed a loving picture in front of him but his face never left the screen. He continued to type commands.
Such lie. Such shamelessness.
Jonas sneered on the inside but he continued his work in front of them not caring if he's being rude or not.
Whitney actually didn't notice his cold treatment.
Ever since, the man had a cold aura and he often forgot other person's existence when working. To her, it was normal.
"Well, it seemed that you are busy. Dorothy and I will go to spa and relax." Whitney tidied up her dress as she stoop up.
Jonas spared her a glance but not Dorothy.
"Sorry about that. I just need to finish this." Jonas got up and proceeded to the water dispenser for a drink.
"What's to be sorry about when you work so hard. I am imposing you by being here. Well, I hope Louise will come around soon." Whitney glanced at the little girl on the bed.
Jonas smiled but did not comment.
Whitney and Dorothy got up and picked up their clutches before walking towards the door.
Their emotions controlled and their thoughts didn't project outwards.
She maintained a smile throughout the whole time and Dorothy stayed silent.
"We'll get going then. Do rest after your work. It is more important alright?" She walked towards him wanting to kiss on his cheeks but Jonas waved his hand.
Whitney's emotions began to crack.
"I have a slight fever. I don't want to pass it to you." Jonas found an excuse.
"Then please take care. Louise will be sad if she will see you so tired." Whitney said with much concern.
"Yeah. I know. I already drank medicine. I won't show you to the door. I will sleep after you go." He said then placed the glass over the small counter.
"Okay. We will visit Louise another time then." Whitney said.
"Okay. Be careful on your way." Jonas warned but with a slight cold tone.
Whitney smiled and nodded.
She walked towards the door gracefully while Dorothy following her.
"Good bye Uncle." Dorothy bid sweetly.
