Borrowing a paw to kill

Jennifer didn't say anything and just came in and hugged Edward and cried her eyes out. Edward had a bad premonition, he tried to ask his mother what had happened but she kept crying. Edward had no choice but to place his hands on her forehead and inject some Mana in,as soon as Jenn felt the pure Mana she stopped crying and enjoyed the pleasant feeling.Edward waited patiently for sometime and then removed his hands, his mother too came back to the reality and heaved a long sigh. This time Edward didn't ask her but Jenn voluntarily narrated

Jenn began " I went to work like any other day, but found that our boss had sold his business to a local merchant guild, i heard that they were quite wealthy. Every one felt that they would get better wages so were cheerful, but contrary to what they thought the new boss just sent us all out without any compensation saying he had slaves to work free for him. But the workers didn't back down just yet, i didn't want to work under the new management but i had to support my friends so i too took part in the protest."

Jenn went silent for a moment and went on again

" Just as we were protesting a carriage came to the work place and a middle aged man got out from there. He was the young master and the only son of the Calver family that administers the surrounding villages. They happened to be the patrons of the merchant who had just bought our previous workplace, and the Young master was assigned to oversee the whole operation. As he came in the merchant went to him and explained the situation. The young master just ordered the people there to beat the protesters without mercy, just as he laid eyes on me, he ordered something to his guards and i was escorted out from there, then they went to beat up the others, i tried to run but i was surrounded by his men. He then came up to me and asked his subordinates to verify my background. He waited patiently till he got the information he wanted ,all the while his guards beat up my fellow workers , i was scared so i just kept quiet. The guard who was ordered came up to him and said that i was a widow of the vice commander Edgar Farlorn and had a 5 years old son, no backing what so ever. The young master just smiled at this and looked at me, he then said he will take me as his concubine. I was shocked and disgusted at the shameless man who had full knowledge of who i was and what Edgar had done for the country. He then said that i should willingly accompany him tomorrow as he leaves for the capital or he will kill my son. He just said it casually and went away as if nothing happened. The guards then allowed me to leave and i didn't stay there any longer as i ran to find some help, but all my friends just shut their doors on my face and turned me away when they learnt about my ordeal, it was not like i didn't know my circumstance but i had to try, i love only your father i will never let another man touch me. I was distraught and decided to take my own life so i came to see you one last time and warn you to get away far from here."

As she finished she started to cry again.

But before she could say anything she was knocked out cold by Edward, he then laid down his mother carefully.

If one were to see his face then they will be surprised to see such heavy killing instinct emanating from a 5 year old kid. Ed's face was frowning but then it twisted into a sinister grin and he laughed like a mad man , you see Ed who lived a full life in Earth knew the situation very well, it seems things like these happen everywhere as there was no shortage for scums in the human society.

The reason he smiled was not because he was angry but he was happy, happy that at the time when he was in dire need of money a fat sheep had just walked in to the lions den. In Edwards perspective the young master of Calver family was already dead.

Edward was not a emotional idiot but a seasoned veteran who knew about the scary underbelly of the crime society. He made up his mind to first reconnaissance the place the young master was living and pull of an assassination, no one would doubt a widow and her 5 year old son.

Ed still didn't know the full extent of his power gained from the first layer of the DD formula and also wanted to test it against real people and not wild animals that lacked intelligence.

Ed draped on dark clothes to cover his tiny figure and went in search of his target. After making sure that he reached the place unnoticed he climbed up the wall and entered the building, he didn't need to find the young master as he was partying hard and loud. Ed hid in the ceiling of the building as he watched below, the young master could be easily distinguished as he occupied the best seat and wore costly dresses. Just to make sure that he could kill him in a single strike Ed started to sense the Mana levels of the people present in the hall, the highest Mana was with the young master which was even thicker than Edward as he had been cultivating for a longer time. But Ed outranked the young master in terms of purity of the Mana and stability, it was clear that the young master Mana foundation was unstable as he had hastily raised his power. In Ed's eyes the young master was not a big threat but just as he was to attack he could read multiple Mana sources approaching the compound, Ed was scared because on particular Mana signature was very thick and can only belong to an expert.

So Ed began to calm himself and drew in his killing instinct so that he doesn't get spotted,he didn't expect the current change and could only improvise.

The young master was interrupted by a guard who informed him that guests had arrived, the usually haughty and arrogant young master was gone and his nature became servile as he himself went to receive the guests. The guests comprised of a number of people and from the way they were dressed it can be seen that they were a influential group.

The young master Cavler welcomed the guests and gave up his position to a Man with a long scar in his face , if one observed closely they could find that he was the person Ed was wary about.

Ed saw this and quietly changed his place, he didn't get noticed because of his precautions but also due to the carelessness of the group below as they didn't expect any one dumb enough to confront such powerful individuals like themselves.

The young master Cavler himself served refreshments to the guests and stood there like a errand boy

The scarred man spoke" Young master William , i hope you have been well"

William Cavler was the young master in target and he replied with courtesy to the scarred man

"His highness lord Enforcer is too kind, this lowly one has been well"

The lord Enforcer he spoke was the man responsible for maintaining the order and peace in this part of the kingdom he worked below the military adviser to the king so he was a person of higher stature than the young master of the Cavler family.

Ed who had been eavesdropping was delighted to figure out the power level of a high ranking official of the kingdom, he would directly overpower him if Ed reached the 3rd layer of DD formula.

But Ed was not sure why a high ranking official and other influential people would visit a border village. So he continued to listen in to their conversation.

The lord Enforcer was pleased with the servile behavior of the young master William, he always hated people born with silver spoon in their mouths as he had to fight his way to his current position ,thus he always tried to dominate good for nothing young masters like the buffoon before him.

The lord Enforcer spoke" Dear young master lets not waste time and begin the auction right away."

Young master William had to swallow his pride to deal with these people but the way the Enforcer was treating him infuriated him but he did allow the displeasure to be seen on his face and spoke

" Lord Enforcer this batch of slaves is outstanding but they got delayed while crossing the border and they need to be cleaned up so they can be made presentable to your highness. So we can start the auction in an hour if it is acceptable to your highness."

Lord Enforcer knew that the package was delayed so he didn't bicker with the useless fellow and started to amuse himself with drinks and started to converse with the other guests who were rich traders in the capital.

Young master William order a guard to go hasten up the packages arrival.

Ed who was listening to all this was amused, he came to kill and rob a pervert but now he was witnessing an illegal flesh trade auctioning. Ed knew that killing William will be difficult but he wanted to kill all the perverted human animals gathered here so lot of innocent people can breath easy, but Ed alone was powerless and he cannot alert the officials as the lord Enforcer of this fief was a customer.

Ed was thinking of ways to kill these animals when an idea struck him.He had heard from one of the neighboring aunties that a large wild beast was residing in the woods he previously went to collect the herb. If Ed could somehow ensnare the beast then he could borrow its paw to deal with these group of people. He just needed a distraction so that he could assassinate these people.But Ed never expected that his method will throw the entire country in a spiral of chaos.
