"Haghhh!" Andrew woke up with cold sweat on his bed and gripped his chest.
His heart rate was normal, and he confirmed that he wasn't tachycardic.
"I managed to use it…hah…hah…"
He saved himself by using Lomba Goto and returning back one day in time.
"Who…what..was she?" Andrew looked at his watch. "She destroyed the city but…I don't remember any calamity like that happening…"
It was 12 o'clock in the afternoon.
"Andrew! Come down, I've made pie." Kara, Andrew's mother, called him.
Andrew got up from his bed and looked out the window. Everything was normal and people were living their lives as usual, mothers walking around with their children and shopping bags, salesmen scurrying around, rich people driving their luxury cars.
"Coming, ma." Andrew exhaled lightly and then he walked out of his room which was on the second floor.
After going down the stairs, he turned right and entered the dining hall, where he saw his little sister eating a big chunk of apple pie.
"Were you sleeping again?" Shana asked him.
Shana was three years younger than Andrew, so currently she was in the first year of highschool. She was a fairly tall girl, just a few centimeters shorter than Andrew, and unlike Andrew who was considered mediocre, Shana was called the top beauty in her class.
"Yeah.." Andrew pulled a chair and sat down beside her.
"Bad dreams again?" Shana asked him.
"Yeah…" Andrew rubbed his chest, tracing the path where the sickle chain had cut him.
"Bella called me in the morning." Kara came and handed Andrew his plate. "You've been ignoring her again, haven't you?"
Bella was Andrew's childhood friend. She and Andrew, in this point of time in history, are supposed to study together and appear for their college entrance exam. Bella had never had a boyfriend just like Andrew had been single all his teenage life, so Andrew's mother had always shipped them together and teased Andrew by calling her his secret girlfriend, sometimes saying they looked cute together.
"No ma, I was just busy…" Andrew timidly replied.
"Well then free your schedule! Go to her house and study! Isn't your exam next week?" Kara scolded Andrew.
"Ma, can I also go with my friends…?" Shana tried to score a chance too.
"No." Kara refused.
"But ma…"
"You, young lady, will stay home and study right here. I know what kind of 'studies' you do with your friends."
"Ugh, unfair." Shana crossed her arms angrily.
Kara always thought that Bella was lucky for Andrew since they have been studying together since they were children. And unlike Andrew who is average in his studies, Bella and Shana always get straight As in their exams.
"Ma, I don't feel like going there today…" Andrew complained.
Andrew was stuck in a time problem. In the previous day, he broke off with his ex by saving her out of grace one last time and then dumping her. Tomorrow, a dangerous girl called Anastasia is supposed to destroy the city.
"I knew you'd say that." A new voice came from the back. "That's why I came here myself."
Andrew lowered his head down at the familiar voice.
"Bellsis!" Shana quickly ran up to Bella and hugged her.
Bella happily hugged her back and they began to chatter together.
Bella and Shana were like best friends and Shana always told Bella that she should stop helping Andrew so much, firstly because she thinks Andrew's uncaring attitude makes her undeserving of her help and also since Bella's selfless commitment in making Andrew study makes him too much dependent on her.
"What can I do? That idiot won't survive without me." Bella smiled while looking at Andrew.
Andrew finally turned his head back and looked at Bella.
She had sweet blonde hair, her 5ft 8 stature and curves like a stunning valkyrie, and on her eyes were a pair of reddish pink spectacles.
"You cut your hair?" Andrew asked about her new bob-cut hair style.
"It's summer, Andrew, isn't it obvious?" Shana mocked Andrew, but she was actually stopping him from being inconsiderate of Bella's feelings. "I think I'll cut mine too."
"I cut it because you said you liked short hair." Bella softly spoke as she lowered her eyes.
"Pardon? What did you say?" But Andrew failed to catch her low voice.
"Nothing." Bella raised her head and smiled at him. "Shall we go to your room now?"
"Wait a minute!" Kara interrupted. "First, let's all have some pie!"
The three women then merrily had their meals as Andrew sulked by himself. And soon after they finished eating their food, Bella and Andrew together went to his room.
"If you keep this attitude up, how will you pass the exam?" Bella asked him as she sat down on his bed. "You do want to go to college, right?"
In the future that has been altered now, Andrew never went to college. After meeting his girlfriend, he began to take care of her and used his remaining time to cultivate. Therefore he grew detached from Bella and his family, and soon, his life punished him for taking that path.
So Andrew decided that he'd do things differently this time.
"I'm not sure, really…" Andrew sat down on his study chair and rested his chin on his hands.
But studying for an exam was difficult and Andrew wasn't that good with memorizing notes.
"..." Bella looked at him silently and then she stood up.
"What's wrong? Why are you so sad?" She slowly walked up to Andrew and then stood behind him.
"It's just…I think I've made a lot of bad decisions in my life…" Andrew said.
He trusted Bella and he knew Bella was a good girl who'd never betray him and that's why he felt comfortable to share his thoughts with her.
"That's all?" Bella put her arms around Andrew from the back and rested her chin on Andrew's head.
"You don't understand…" Andrew thought about telling her all his secrets and what was troubling him currently but another side of his tongue refused to leave his mouth. "I… I…."
"It's okay.." Bella softly breathed behind his ear. "I understand…"
